    There're other options besides Luke abandoning her or never knowing he had a daughter. Personally, I think she was kidnapped on an entirely different planet and brought to Jakku.

    There is ahuge problem with Luke being Rey's father and not looking for her. There are many famous cases of children disappearing (like the one of Maddeleine McCann) which show that parents dedicate all of their resources and time and don't give up on searching for their child as long as they find it or find its body. I truly cannot imagine Luke being dedicated to training youngings or even Ben with a thought of his daughter missing back in his head. Also, I am certain that Leia and Han would be as dedicated to finding their niece as Luke.

    Not if he had good reason to believe she was dead. I've been speculating for some time that Rey inadvertently blocked her own Force connection in response to substantial trauma due to some kind of dark side presence on Jakku, even before Empire's End revealed the corrupted life essence. To Luke and anyone else connected to her, it would appear that she was dead.
