SPECULATION Luke Planted the Seeds. Rey is the ray of light that sprouted the seeds.

Luke is an utter genius. There is a little bit of speculation here. But it is cool to see how the seeds were planted. Basically, my theory (and probably plenty of other people's) is none of it was coincidence. Luke knew what would happen and how. He planted the seeds. Rey is a ray of light and helps the seeds sprout into effect.

    • Luke has Rey left on a planet where Han's ship is.
    • Luke knew Han would run into Rey because he wanted to find his ship.
    • Luke knew Lor San Tekka would give his map to the Resistance when the timing was ready.
    • Luke knew Han would take Rey to the person who had his lightsaber.
    • Luke knew the lightsaber would call to Rey.
    • Luke knew Maz would persuade Rey to leave Jakku to come find him.
    • Luke knew Rey would be drawn to the Force.
    • Luke knew Rey would end up leaving Jakku and eventually find Leia and the Resistance because of Han.
    • Luke knew Rey would have to face Kylo and rely on her force powers. He also knew Rey would become strong on her own on Jakku.
    • Luke knew R2 would activate to help his friends when the time was right.
    • Luke knew that when the timing was right, Rey would be able to meet with him on that island because she would reunite the pieces of the map.

I don't think that Luke Skywalker is THAT clever unless he's Dr. House .

Pretty thin. I think it would be less thin if you supplemented the name 'Luke' with 'the force'.

What if the Jedi Temple Tree that Luke and Shara Bey recovered produces seeds for actual Force-sensitive babies and Rey is one of them that Luke hid away?

You assume JJ put a whole lot of thought into things.

    I assure you, he didn't.

    Harvy is spot on.
You have to give luke some credit for understanding the force.
But, as the film portrays, the force is the mystical element that sets these things in motion.

And, in my humble opinion, it is the first and last word on the character Rey. And how and why she arrives at Ach-To and Luke.

If you go back and watch the interviews with KK and JJ leading up to the movie, you will see just how much importance they placed on restoring the sense of mystery and wonder to the force.
