Lukes Green Crystal

this is spmething i thought about years ago since Obi-wan was so close to qui gonn so he must have taken it for safe keeping.

 

I'm a big fan of this theory, especially with the rarity of kyber during the OT.
the new canon does suggest that crystals are not coloured like we used to believe. They are clear, and only take on their colour based on the jedi/sith who wields them. knowing this takes a bit away from the theory - but it still represents the most likely scenario for Luke to find a kyber crystal for his new saber

 

The crystal could retain the "essence" of the holder after they die, sort of the afterlife for them before they learned about force ghosts.

 

I would hope this is true. Qui Gon was under appreciated by the council and had that natural rebel within him. I would hope that the spirit of Qui Gon could speak to Luke as well, especially given he has his saber. Luke had the Jedi training (somewhat), but if he had been a Jedi during the age of the Jedi Council he would have been more like Qui Gon. Respected enough, notable skills, but generally ignored as a master.

Like in The Dark Crystal??? Capture the essence within the crystal to be harvested by a force user who can extract it?
Or like a USB hold feelings and memories, visual to force users that can read it?

Who took Obiwan's lightsaber after he died in a New Hope? Does Vader have it?

 

just sort of like how using the force could allow you to feel their presence like a ghost without it being manifested.

 

It could for sure, but based on the way it was presented - it seems that the crystals are pretty malleable with their colour shifting. That being said this is all based on what I gained from reading the Ashoka novel and she was changing a red crystal back to clear that she stole off an inquisitor. So its tough to say really.

Luke could have easily gotten instructions as a part of obi-wan's journals...

Probably not. His crystal is his own. I don't see why he would borrow someone else's crystal as a Jedi individual.

 

Luke had a broken Rodian Jedi's lightsaber in his possession. It's canon. I often wondered if it had some help in constructing/crystal, etc.

There is a Star Wars licensed mythos figure, Obi Wan has Qui Gon's saber with him. Obviously that's not canon, but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for Luke to have gotten the green kyber crystal from wherever Obi had it
