    Hearing rumors that Lupita struggled with the mo-cap technology, I was surprised that her character and performance was actually much better than the very disappointing Snoke.

    That is easily Andy Serkis's most average peformance in mo-cap. But Lupita actually really shone in the brief moment that she was given. Her eyes, facial expressions and voice...well-realized.

    I'm s not that she struggle, but rather that a lot just didn't work, AND I agree that serious sucked because Lupita was in it for much longer than Serkis .

    Those rumors were from a trashy British tabloid. They never had any weight to them.

    Not too sure it's fair to compare. It was all face for Andy, she at least crawled over a table. I just thought she was more interesting

    Quoted for truth. I love how sometimes people call something a rumor and then still present it as fact. Strange.

    Anyway, I agree that Lupita's performance was fantastic. Maz was great in this movie.

    I agree she was better, but I don't know if that's exactly a compliment because IMO neither of those characters worked as well as I hoped.

    The most important part of getting a good mo-cap actor....is getting a good actor. I always thought that lupita was hired for her tremendous talent.

    The CGI on Snoke was really dated, Like PS3 or even PS2 standard. Just looked really cartoony, and Serkis did not really embellish his facial nuances as he has done for other characters.

    The (completely fabricated) rumor was that she did so poorly that JJ cut the part to a glorified cameo. It was from a shameless tabloid trying to attract people like us who will fall all over ourselves at any juicy information about Star Wars. Especially if its bad.

    Lest we forget, the Reddit originated drunk and abusive Mark Hamill rumors that somehow still get traction.

    I loved Maz Kanata, i was afraid would be awkward but i think she fits just right in the Star Wars lore. just my 2 cents.

    She got a lot more to do in this movie. If we judged the Emperor based on his original hologram in Empire then he wouldn't be very memorable neither. It's counter-intuitive but we really need to wait until the new trilogy is over to really make any judgements.

    Overall a great movie and a nice start to the Star Wars saga again, the main characters aced it for me. Snoke on the other hand.... I was sure the CGI here would be really good but on him it did not look like I had hoped. I understand that he at times is a flimsy hologram but jeez.... Voldermort or whatever his name is again has a lost brother in a galaxy far far away....
