Main Finn/John Boyega Episode IX Thread

I think Finn will a super side kick for Rey so he can keep up with her. This from John Boyega comments about keeping up with Rey.

We will not see no big changes with him in the plot he was only the red herring in The Force Awakens and that is it.

Lando will take his LONG LOST SON back home, because Lando's in IX. And because they're obviously related, riiiight?!

 

There are better odds of Phasma being a former lover of Lando than Finn being his son

i was actually thinking about the time jump between movies last night and how that has been a staple of Star Wars since the beginning. every movie opens up right in the middle of something already happening and as the audience we have to start putting things together as we get moved along. obviously the biggest time jump of all was the first Star Wars movie as that all happened a long, long time ago but it was only released in 1977.

TLJ didn't have the chance to do this because it was hot on the heels of TFA. we already knew the situation when TLJ started so while there was more familiarity, there was also less wonder and that exciting feeling of being in the thick of it all. that may just be me; i still enjoyed TLJ.

Yeah, TLJ plays more as ‘TFA part two’ than ‘Episode 8’. That cliffhanger with Luke kind of locked them in there. Hard to just skip past that.

It's a bit tough to project the start of the movie not knowing when in time we start the movie.

We could start with the Falcon coming out of hyperspace from the jump that closed the resistance plot for all we know for sure.
I expect a jump but that doesn't mean that's how it plays out.

I'd guess we will hear General Finn before the climax though and I'd like if he and Rey parent the next generation but that is just my preference.

I was mistaken. @DarthPilkington and @eeprom have very kindly corrected me.

 

Very difficult to predict as he was a bit of a lost character during TLJ in terms of where we see his story progressing to. Although i agree it would be nice for them to go a bit left field with him and move him away from the Resistance it just isn't something i think they will do. He will be involved to some degree whether it is a General or grunt i'm not sure but i'm also interested in the Rose story line and where they go with that. I wasn't sold on it during TLJ as a lot of people weren't so they have some work to do to make us buy into it or they may abandon it all together. Certainly a lot of different ways for the character to progress.

 

Finn's character arc was about him going from somebody who runs away into a resistance fighter, willing to sacrifice himself for the survival of everybody else. So yeah, he is most likely staying with the Resistance in some capacity and will assist Poe, who is (I hope) gonna be the new leader.

Just in case this spawns another "fan theory", I have to mention that Phasma grew up on a post-apocalyptic world and from there went straight to the First Order. So - no way.

 

lol, she had to leave that post-apocalyptic world and get to the first order... not saying it's so, but what I am saying, is that there's a chance (Like Lloyd Christmas and Mary Swanson) hahaha... Lando drops off some cargo, she slips onto his ship and into his heart... Finn, I am your father... and I'm your mother.

 

Here we go again.....

 

I hope Finn gets a new unique look for IX. I'm tired of seeing him cosplaying as Poe.
