Main Finn/John Boyega Episode IX Thread

I'd rather he'd be Rose's daddy, than Rey's caddy.

 

Speaking of...KMT's and John's comments making me think we will get a hint of a short relationship with Finn and Rose (that occurred between films) that is tension but not pursued in this film and maybe they will float a flirtation between Finn and (new character) Jannah. Hey if Finn can't be a super soldier let him be a ladies man!!

 

I'm thinking Finn is going to get with Lando's daughter and learn to fly the Falcon...works for me.

 

Finn is gonna have a great time in IX since daisy just destroyed reylo

 

Always felt John was a good advocate for Finn's character. I think JJ is more open to feedback than RJ so I hope the results are satisfying onscreen.

Any bets on if Finn gets to wield a different set of weapons and what they might be...its kind of been a thing with him.

TFA: Blaster and light saber
TLJ : Rifle and riot baton
TROS...?

So basically he'll be getting Rey's hand-me-downs? Damn, that's embarrassing.

Yeah I intentionally did not pick her staff because he has already been seen with it in the teaser, but its definitely a possibility.

Not trying to start THIS thread down a negative path because we all love Finn but a few observations.

The Mandalorian looks awesome and his weapons look badass.

Fairly minor ( but impactful) characters

Baze Malbus had the heavy repeater cannon and Chirrut Inwe who was awesome with a staff also had a lightbow.

Rey has HANS BLASTER AND LUKE'S LIGHTSABER?!

Poe is the best pilot in the galaxy. (Flies his own signature X-Wing)

Which leads me to Finn who has a standard issue blaster and Rey's old staff? (without Chirrut Inwe or Rey's ability to channel the Force...don't @ me there have been too many people on here arguing how Finn is a "regular hero" and how awesome they think it is so we rolling with that unless this movie says otherwise)

Can our boy Finn get a cool weapon to play with..IJS really?

Ok climbing down from my soapbox....

Now to my weapon prediction for episode IX.
I feel like some kind of battle royale with the KOR is coming involving Finn, Rey, (sigh... probably Kylo Ren) and maybe Poe.

I think that Finn may get a few seconds with Rey's lightsaber a la Anakin/Obiwan in Attack of the clones vs Dooku...

I also could see him picking up a discarded or dropped melee weapon from the KOR during the battle.

I hope (optimistically) Finn gets some extended work with a vibrosword or vibroax that he inherits or is gifted (a la Lando in ROTJ except we REALLY get to see him use it in a fight rather than just stand with it on the hull of Jabbas ship.)

So those are my guesses or hope for Finn a vibrosword or vibroax. (Both powerful melee weapons that can parry a lightsaber) As far as a gun I assume he'll get a lot of use out of that blaster on his hip anything else will be a bonus.
Let's get to speculating! (It's suppossed to be fun)

 

I don't have high hopes for him in 9. He's been terrible so far.

 

The Finn rose connection they are hinting at is garbage. I like that less than I like reylo as rose was the one character that TLJ didn't need.

 

I actually agree with that. Whilst I think Rose was well acted and added a nice heart to the film, that role, the role of soulful Moral compass was a space Finn could have stepped into on his own. That basically was his place in TFA rey/finn/Kylo duel. He wasn’t the most powerful but was the most right and the most just. Giving that role to Rose in the sequal and makig her teach him that lesson again was treading water for Finn. Seems like she was included to take some pressure off the Finn/Rey relationship. But other than that I don’t see what Finn couldn’t have pulled off alone.

I just hope he's given a solid arc. Finn is one of the few characters (and actors probably) that I could see continuing to show up in this universe via Disney+ shows or future movies. I think John Boyega genuinely loves this universe and would happily make another outing after TROS.

 

Or he dies.

 

I am sorry but that not our fault that is Lucas films fault, we dont make the movies we just comment about them.

look at the trailer again it looks like he finds her staff how you can tell, he looking beyond as looking for her, and Poe on top looking beyond for someone also.

John said few years ago that he sign up for three movies and these three movies are done. So I think he trying to let the audience know and Lucasfilm what your plans for my character after 9. By him saying it in the public on tv like this he is hoping to hear a response from Lucasfilm after the word spreads on the internet that Finn not coming back or Finn dies in 9. He a smart guy lol . I think Finn in 9 will have not really a big change from 7 and 8 and he just side character only. John words here he is provoking a reply from Lucasfilm, this not the first time he said something like this in public.
