Ian says that we shouldn't take a Teaser too seriously, and the other 8 cast members who were at Celebration say that nothing in the trailer was deliberately misleading, so take your pick as to whom you choose to listen to.

Misleading or not, the teaser basically told us nothing about the story and how it will develope.

Not specifically, no, but some conclusions can be drawn with a tiny bit of critical thinking.

I disagree, but that's a discussion for elsewhere.

I still think that with the introduction of the powers of "Force skype" (manipulated and implemented by Snoke to connect Rey and Kylo) and the astral "Force projection" (used by Luke at the end of TLJ), that Snoke may not be truly dead. Perhaps it was just his way of cementing Kylo as the darksider and anti-Luke, who killed his father and master, thereby taking the throne (unlike Luke in his temptations...)

Didn't Andy Serkis say something to the effect that Snoke was more evil and powerful than any that came before him? Considering the same, I think we are more likely to see Snoke appear again in the flesh than Palpatine. I think that Palpatine will most certainly be part of the MacGuffin sought on the remains of the DS2. I personally have warmed considerably to he idea of him haunting some part of the wreckage or imparting some Sith "wisdom" to Rey and/or Kylo that will needed to take down Snoke (aka Plagueis) once and for all. After all, who else may have fooled Palpatine into thinking he was dead and gone? And who as a result would have the information necessary to keep from making that same mistake twice?

#YourSnokeTheorySucks.... but maybe it was really part of the plan all along. :D ;)

Even if Snoke is not Plagueis, maybe he learned how to cheat death just like him and our heroes and Kylo learn that Snoke's death was just an illusion. This would still provide our protagonist and antagonist reason for seeking out the wisdom of Palpatine, the one who perhaps does know how to kill one's own master once and for all.

The problem is when Snoke got killed we saw the lightsaber physically cut him in half. With Luke’s projection the saber went right through him. If Snoke was a projection that would not have happened.

    1. SNOKE IS DEAD. There's a reason he wasn't a fleshed out character and Rian Johnson went out his way to show his body parts falling off the throne and his tongue hanging out.
    2. There's no way JJ is going to flat out confirm that Ian is back as Palpatine and filmed scenes and him only be some spirit haunting a Death Star.

Palpatine is the ONE thing that can unite everyone and potentially bring Luke back. According to MSW, Jason's strong speculation based on things he's heard is Luke will be back and the title is about him.

Which is contrary to the repeated emphasis that this is a story about the "new generation"; because of said emphasis, the title almost HAS to refer to the two "new generation" characters most directly associated with the Skywalker bloodline, Rey or Ben/Kylo, and since Rey is the Sequel Trilogy's protagonist, it is more likely, IMO, to be referring to her.

Palpatine is returning as the "connective tissue" linking the Sequel Trilogy to everything that came before it and as the "greatest evil" that the "new generation" of heroes has to defeat.

What in the galaxy is a MSW? I don't know all these fandom acronyms. I try, but my memory is bad.

The title will probably have a double meaning just like The Last Jedi. It was about Luke and Rey. The Rise of Skywalker will involve someone named Skywalker (Anakin, Luke) and one “other”. Ben Solo because of his bloodline or Rey taking the name.

The word "Rise" is in this trilogy and the whole saga really. I think since Rian used got his title from JJ's crawl. JJ returned the favor and used Rise as a story point.

Darkness rises and light to meet it

If Skywalker returns the Jedi will rise. (I find this one jumps out and almost interchanges.)

I don't believe Luke and Palpatine are in this physically. But to me I see it as like a metaphor of sorts. One definition of Rise means"to increase in size and number. During this whole trilogy not everyone was together or coming together until near the end of TLJ. So together and maybe it means the good and bad together has to come together to defat some great evil in whatever Palpatine planned. Or if he truly is alive and well they have to band together and put aside differences to defeat whatever is going on.

    But I'm just speculating.

    Here's a thought.

I don't think Palpatine is in the remains of the Death Star. I think our heroes are going there to retrieve something that will stop him.

Maybe one of the big reveals of EP IX is that Palpatine 'created' Anakin, and that will somehow shape Kylo's path to light side.

There is also a line from TFA, Snoke says to Kylo: "The droid would soon be delivered to the Resistance. Leading them to THE LAST JEDI. (Snoke pointing directly at Kylo) If SKYWALKER returns a new Jedi will RISE. This can't be a convenient coincidence that the words that I capitalized turned out to be titles for the next movies.

The scenes depicted in the final issue of that comic were not meant to be taken literally insofar as Anakin's origin is concerned.
