I'm sure there is a three note figure that's common to them. It's been rattling around in my head these past four years.

So...is Rey the chosen one then? Or is that just out the window?

Either way...The "skywalker saga" ended with a Palpatine defeating Palpatine.

The 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' visual effects team explain Rey's new lightsaber and the small detail you may have missed in it

One of the biggest reveals in "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," other than Rey's identity, came at its very end when the character revealed she had her own new lightsaber with a distinctive yellow-orange hue.

What color exactly is the lightsaber and how did the visual effects team land on it?

"A fair number of colors have been used in lightsabers. So there was a design challenge there in terms of what color it should be," "TROS" visual effects supervisor Roger Guyett told Insider Monday of the direction given for the lightsaber seen at the movie's very end.

"There was an optimistic kind of quality to that, but we also wanted [Rey] to have a very unique color," he added of coming up with the color we see on screen. "We ran some tests and decided in the end what color it would be."

Is there a specific name to Rey's lightsaber color? We're going with 'yellow optimism.'

"That specific color yellow, if you go too pale - this is getting really in the weeds here - if you go too pale and you make it too light, it's going to look white a lot of times," Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) visual effects supervisor Patrick Tubach said of one factor that helped them land on that precise color. "Colors on film, sometimes they bleed away depending on the exposure and the quality of the light in the scene."

"Making it that more golden yellow gives you that optimistic feeling, and it also allows you to make it supersaturated and still feel like it's in the 'Star Wars' universe," he added.

Yellow sabers aren't anything new to "Star Wars" lore, but they are uncommon. In the past, yellow lightsabers have mostly been limited to Jedi temple guards, who wielded double-bladed sabers.

When asked if they had a specific name for the color, optimism was a word that came up frequently to describe the tone they were going for with the look of Rey's lightsaber.

"We definitely went for things like golden and sun and optimism," said Tubach.

"I think the optimism carried that choice," added Guyett.

"I'm going to paint my house 'yellow optimism,'" joked creature and makeup effects creative supervisor Neal Scanlan.

Rey's lightsaber does include a yellow kyber crystal
"Yeah, it's supposed to be a yellow crystal," said Tubach.

It was not a clear crystal that changed color after chosen by Rey. Neither was it a purified version of a red kyber crystal as Ahsoka Tano did in the past to create her white lightsabers.

Insider thought Rey's saber color may have contained a healed version of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo's cracked red kyber crystal, but it seems that's not the case.

The small detail within Rey's new lightsaber you may have missed: The hilt of her lightsaber comes from her original staff.
Did the hilt of Rey's lightsaber look familiar? It should have.
    Lucasfilm

"That was the concept," said Guyett of the inspiration behind the hilt of Rey's lightsaber. "The art production design and the art department, we all contribute to the designs of various things... [director] J.J. [Abrams] just thought it was logical that she had the staff, and, therefore, the saber should somehow be linked to that."

In hindsight, when you go back to "The Force Awakens," Rey's staff always looked like it could eventually be transformed into the perfect lightsaber hilt.

"The Rise of Skywalker" is currently in theaters. You can read our review here.

Even if you call them both Palpatines, they defeated each other. Both of them died.

The last Skywalker, Ben Solo completed the victory by bringing Rey back and accepting his own death in her place. Thus, he was redeemed and Skywalker lives on in Rey.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's young Rey played by Bearsted pupil, 6

    ByTom Pyman

A young performer from Bearsted has rocket-launched her acting career with a role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Josefine Irrera Jackson was cast as young Rey - Daisy Ridley's child counterpart - in the latest instalment in the popular Disney-owned movie franchise, which opened in cinemas before Christmas.

The six-year-old's first feature film appearance comes after spending two years at Stagecoach Bearsted, a performing arts school for children aged between four and 18.

Josefine had the chance to work with director J.J. Abrams for two hours on set at Slough's Pinewood Studios, who was said to be very impressed with her skills.

The ensemble cast includes the late Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac and Ridley, who plays the older version of Josefine's character.

The pair met in the hair and makeup trailer and spent time looking in the mirror together to see how similar they looked.

Mum Anitra Irrera said of the experience: “In general, attending Stagecoach has made her aware of how much she likes acting.

"It has also helped her with her confidence and performing in front of a crowd. [Her teachers] gave her some valuable tips.”

The youngster will continue taking classes at the drama school with the hope of another film role arriving in the future.

Stagecoach Bearsted principal Shane Rising said: "We are all very proud of Josefine for being cast in this role.

"At Stagecoach our goal is to provide every child with Creative Courage for Life, and there's nothing more courageous than working on a film as iconic as Star Wars.

"Josefine has been a promising student and we are excited to see where she goes from here."

Teacher Sara Collins added: "In class, Josefine has grown in confidence and has a great talent for acting.

"It is so exciting to see her in a major film, and we are all very proud of her.”

The reason Rey is not the Chosen One, at least not the one mentioned in the prophesy (is there another Chosen On mentioned anywhere?), is that the prophesy says that the Chosen One is a male and has no father. The only person that fits is Anakin. It's not sexism. Luke can't be the chosen one either, he has a father, like Rey.

I really hope none of the folks that believe redemption is impossible for the villains in this franchise are Christian. (No knock, I grew up in church myself, just sayin'.)

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER’: DID DAISY RIDLEY DO ANY OF HER OWN STUNTS?
    Written By Jeremy Spirogis 20/01/2020

The newest installment for the Skywalker Saga strikes its one-month box-office level today, and despite crucial reviews, followers agree totally that the activity moments take point. Let’s have a look at what number of of the traveling through air, lightsaber-wielding stunts Daisy Ridley does by herself as Rey in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Who is Daisy Ridley’s stunt double in ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’?

Ridley features three ladies who perform stunts on her in Episode IX. Caitlin Dechelle, Katie McDonnell, and Rubie Planson all play Ridley’s stunt doubles in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, according to IMDb.

Although the film chance mostly in London, there is about a few days . 5 of reshoots in Los Angeles that Dechelle worked on.

“I landed the role because I looked like Daisy, body-wise, and I also could handle weapons in the fight scenes we did,” Dechelle informed Elle. “So a Japanese katana sword is basically a lightsaber, though it’s a slightly different fighting style using a lightsaber. In essence, it’s practically the same. Except, I have to say, a lot cooler.”

McDonnell and Planson invested probably the most time as Ridley’s dual being that they are both from England, where in actuality the film had been mainly shot.

How most of the stunts we see in ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ tend to be Daisy Ridley?

Throughout the filming of The Rise of Skywalker, Ridley goes through intense training for her lightsaber battles. She had been upset when the only stunt she would not do was at the truck when it comes to film.

“I had learnt a version of it, but there was a risk of breaking ankles so I couldn’t do the full thing,” Ridley told USA Today regarding Rey’s backflip within the truck for the movie. “But there’s a bit in the film where you see me upside down. It’s funny because I did 95% of my (stunts), but that’s the one thing I didn’t fully do. People are like, ‘Oh, that’s so cool,’ and I’m like, ‘Ugh.’”

Although she’s got a few stunt doubles, Ridley executes as numerous for the stunts as she are able to. The just time she must allow some other person step-in occurs when the manufacturers have the stunt is simply too dangerous with their celebrity.

Who performed the backflip throughout the wrap fighter into the famous ‘Rise of Skywalker’ truck?

The many talked-about stunt into the movie could be the video of Rey performing a backflip over a going wrap fighter. The video clip is within the truck for the movie, therefore it is viewed repeatedly by followers. That stunt had been done by McDonnell, that is therefore enthralled to possess already been part of it all.

“This has to be one of the biggest ‘what on Earth is my life?!?’ moments I’ve ever experienced,” blogged McDonnell on Instagram. “Riding a speeder through explosions in the desert, with Chewie and BB8 on the back!”

The Ninja Warrior finalist had been excited to generally share together with her buddies and family the trick task she labored on for nearly a-year of her life, whenever The Rise of Skywalker emerged aside in theaters.

Although Ridley executes nearly all her stunts, its amazing to fulfill the behind-the-scenes stunt-doubles that do that other 5%. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is playing in theaters today.

For many reasons I didn't want Rey to be a chosen one. 1. It's a tired & cliched. 2. They already did it with Anakin 3. Much of Rey's 'greatness' in all 3 films comes from her character and decisions she made from her own grit and effort. Making her some chosen one makes it look as if her strength of character comes as the result of divine power. 4. Most importantly...her being a Palpatine and choosing to do good or not give into the dark side (which I see as anger and unfettered ambition) which her grandfather did and was expected of her. Showed that she's her own woman.

This is going to be strange.

Rey is by far my favorite character, and in my eyes the most accomplished Jedi of all time. Don't get me started on the Jedi hippies, you all know where my love lies, but bear with me, cause I'am having a short break.

Rey is no one, and the rest is non sense. Lineage is nothing. Rey grew in poverty, slavery, and hunger. Hunger. Anakin was a slave, but still, he had food, a mother, and was brought to the Jedi temple at a rather young age. Luke had a family. Thousands of Jedi Padawan had help, shelter, food, guidance, and a safety pillow to fall back into.

What did Rey have; She had nothing. Poverty. The fact, that such a person, going through all those hardship in life, made the decisions she made, is extraordinary. The most likely outcome for one going through life as she did, was to become a cruel heartless bitc$$ killing everyone.

Rey, despite all her power, and all she went through, remains loyal to the Light side, tries to save Ben, helps the resistance, and above all is respectful. I don't see her bragging. I see her trying.

For me, and perhaps I'am projecting my self, she has working class soul. She knows, what a dump really is, more than any Jedi before her, and that's why above all, she cares.

Well said. That's why we all love her and look up to her. One of the finest women in film.

I just want to add that she displayed even more courage because she didn't turn into a heartless mean girl. Being mean and cruel is a sign of cowardice and weakness not power.

In TFA Adam Driver stund double was Toth Gyula-
"When you see Kylo Ren performing an action sequence in The Force Awakens, it’s not Adam Driver beneath the mask, but his stunt double Toth Gyula. The young Hungarian worked on movies like Game of Thrones, Hercules, Age of Ultron and much more, but his most memorable role will always be his appearance in TFA."

In TROS his stunt double is called- Joel Adrian.

In TLJ I think there was no stunt double for Adam Driver, because Rian wanted to be as close as possible in the characters' faces.

Thanks for the article - I will go over it during the weekend. It would be great if we could have a clinical pshychologist examine fandom- perhaps there are articles written already.

If she had been a boring one note character (I'm looking at you Brie Larson as Captain Marvel) I would agree. But not for what she's done in this film. She actually gave a fully formed and complex human being. I am sure I am not the only person touched or affected by this performance.

Just like Captain Marvel, Rey discovers she has this incredible power, but has no clue why she is powerful and what her place in this story is- yet. I'd say they are both pretty similar and it's only personal preference which character you like more. Rey is more of a girly, Keira Knightley type, and Carol is more of a cool, reserved, but snarky Veronica Mars type.
