Main Rey/Daisy Ridley Episode IX thread

Good to hear! Thanks for posting this info. I probably would have never known news like this!

 

I just enjoy it. I suggested doing a thread for all the actors like an alumni section on here but it was never took up. I would hold my hand up and offer to do it but I do have learning difficulties and mental health problems so it would be quite a heavy burden for me. But it is nice to see what others are doing now. Am just drawn to Daisy so I know more about her, so I just share the information

 

Well thanks an amazing idea. A thread for the actors and actresses of star wars! Awesome! The info about the actors we know and love and the upcoming ones!

 

Disney will never let anyone but Daisy be Rey, at least not in live action version. Daisy's fingerprints are all over the character and she's nuanced and layered for someone to easily just step in. Rey was not a one dimensional prototype action heroine.

I think that Knightly is okay, but she does not have Daisy's charisma and presence.

 

I disagree. There are plenty of very talented actors out there that could step in and give a stellar performance.

Casting Alden Ehrenreich worked fine, I wouldn't mind Rey getting a re-cast, if there's a good story that need to be told.

 

I think the problem with that is they had to cast someone other than Ford to play Han. Solo was all about young Han and they needed a younger face, ya know. I doubt Rey will be anyone but Ridley just because at the age we know Rey at, Ridley is the face we are used to. Unless we get a movie about Rey being much older or much younger, I think Ridley will play the role. I respect your opinion though

Sure there are very good actors out there. But does not mean that it will be able to replicate what Daisy did in the role. Dustin Hoffman is a great actor, but I don't think he should be the next James Bond. I heard some of the names that LF considered for the role when they were casting (Elizabeth Olsen, Soirsa Ronen, Jennifer Lawrence), and while very good actresses. If they had been cast, it would not have been the same Rey. Tone, emotion, presence and mannerisms count for a lot.

Alden Ehrenreich worked fine. But he wasn't playing the same Han that we see in ANH +. Ford was playing Han as a cynical older man. Ehrenreich played Han a somewhat naïve 20 something. So essentially they are two different men . I am also referring to Rey circa how she ended up in TROS, an older and wiser 20 something. So sure if they want to do a follow up film or tv show in a few years with a 20+ time jump, then sure they can cast another actress in the role (although I don't think the fans would accept it).

 

Exactly. Han in Solo and Han in ANH were different. Big personality difference and definitely a big physical difference. Well said, my friend

 

Well said my friend, Daisy is Rey and Rey is Daisy. We don't need unoriginal ideas or anything akin to Marvel having three actors playing the same role. It would be disingenuous to replace the protagonist of the sequel trilogy.

 

Agreed. Every since Disney has painted this picture in our mind as Daisy as Rey, there isn’t turning back unless there is a dramatic change of time in terms of setting of the movie. Anyway, i agree with yall both

It's the adaptation of a thriller by the same name and which itself is based on a fairytale by Hans Christen Andersen. I don't generally like this kind of stuff, I find it too dark and I get enough of life's ugliness as it is. The movies will have the protagonist questioning her identity based on her...family.

Also Rey isn't and never has been your generic boiler plate action heroine (cough Brie Larson as Captain Marvel cough) so it would be hard to replace her.

 

Thats a good point. And I do agree. That would make her hard to replace considering her unique in the sence of her character

 

I think it's a little bit further on, than what that article suggests. The team and director are out there already. Think it's stated already that it starts shooting in June, so Daisy will be over there shortly for quarantine. Unless she's already there. She was doing something on Friday but we don't know what.

She's made of porcelain. Nice to see some new stuff to buy for the sequel trilogy and nice to see the yellow lightsaber.

It's shooting in Canada. I live in Canada! I wonder where. I am going to guess in the Vancouver area.

I saw the statue on Side Show's page. It's much better than rey kotobukiya. But I am not big on porcelain. That being said it is very lovely and really captures her essence, she looks both powerful and elegant.

Am in the UK, so I don't really know the geography of a Canada but there is some filming going on right now, I don't think any of the cast are involved yet but the director is hinting.
