SPECULATION Maisie Richardson Sellers

I feel the exact same way.

Forgive me if im stepping out of line claiming your outlook to be the same as mine.

I remember so well that night when I sat up at the computer, casually and on routine scanning the net when I stepped on the explosives: "Disney buys Lucasfilm - Episode 7,8 and 9 is on the way ".

Heart rate increase.
Euphoria in the Jar Jar AKA human skull.
Almost sweaty hands.

I have from the very second we got the news been 100% optimistic in this. Many friends was on the automatic "not excited and skeptic" mode.

I even feel that the probability of the new trilogy is to outdo the OT at great lengths.

I feel that there is massive factors weighing in favor of the project being succesfull, even brilliant:

- JJ Abrams and Disney, coming as outsiders just have to make it right. The bare thought of being the one who "messed up" Star Wars is so profound that the individual is forced to be in constant dialogue with himself, questioning every little particle of everything they do with it. And adding to this dialogue with the self is the dialouge back and forth within the whole Disney and Lucasfilm team. They are a group of dedicated and very talented people working together, bouncing of each other.

There is a world of differences between this setting than that in wich the prequels was concieved in.

Also, when Lucas did the prequels, he was the master continuing his own art. The technical constraints of the original trilogy is too us what forced the movies to be great, while for Lucas himself they where just that; constraints and limits.

So when Lucas did the prequels he was looking forward a thousand years further in the art of moviemaking, while all of us wanted more of that original Star Wars.

Now, with outsiders coming in, we are ensured to be getting people with their fingers on the pulse of everything that made the original Star Wars brilliant.

This being great will strenghten the Disney brand probably to a degree that cannot be underestimated.

Also adding to the lure of prestige is the financial need and will to make this as great as it possibly can, a huge critical sucess generating maximum of revenue.

An motivator that is profound to say the least.

 

My apologies if this has been covered again recently, but I wanted to tie the recent character rumors back to the original casting sheet from June 2013 (sourced from Bleeding Cool):

- Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit. (assuming this is one of the two primary leads, Rey / Daisy Ridley, or "Rachel" from the original casting call)

- Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking. (assuming this is the other primary lead, FInn / John Boyega, or "Thomas" from the original casting call)

- A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident. (assuming this is Kylo Ren / Adam Driver, based on rumors he's an arrogant aristocrat chasing down artifacts. Some might counter that he's not traditionally handsome, but he can carry himself with a charismatic yet imposing presence)

- Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn't need to be particularly fit. (assuming this is Max Von Sydow, rumored to be Rey's friend and gruff caretaker of sorts while she's in exile)

- A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit. (interestingly we haven't heard anything about this role, yet Bleeding Cool confirms this is a list of lead roles -- maybe this is Maisie Richardson-Sellers?)

- Forty something male, fit, military type. (assuming this is Poe / Oscar Isaac, an X-Wing fighter pilot, possibly with a headstrong, rebellious streak since rumors suggest Han Solo disapproves of him getting involved with Rey)

- Thirtysomething male, intellectual. Apparently doesn't need to be fit. (assuming this is Domhnall Gleeson, rumored to be a high-ranking official within the Empire, who schemes to rid the galaxy of the devastating super weapons developed by both sides of the conflict)

If these are the lead roles, as Bleeding Cool claims, it would make sense that Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie were not included in the table-read casting announcement, since they were presumably cast in more supporting roles at a later date. We've heard rumors Christie is a chrome trooper and Nyong'o is a mo-cap character.

What doesn't make sense: Why was the actress playing the "second young female" not included in the table-read casting announcement, if this is a lead character? Prior to the announcement we heard rumors that Maisie Richardson-Sellers would be cast in a significant role, yet I'm pretty sure she still hasn't even been officially confirmed. Why keep both her and the character she's playing a secret?

Up until recently we'd heard very little of Domhnall Gleeson's character, with Gleeson himself suggesting that revealing anything about his character (like his rumored parentage) would give away something significant about the plot. Is something similar going on with Maisie Richardson-Sellers and the character she plays? The lazy answer would be she's Lando's offspring, but given how seemingly everyone is rumored to be somebody's kid maybe this is correct?

Of course, it's always possible the character was demoted to a subsidiary character during rewrites, but that still doesn't explain why Nyong'o and Christie were confirmed with a press release but nothing official has been said about Richardson-Sellers.

Anybody heard any interesting speculation?

* Edit: I forgot about the rumor that she might be a grandchild of Ob-Wan Kenobi. Would be curious to hear from Viral or the other mods how much stock they put in this rumor.

Anybody heard of "Korr Sella" before?

Apologies for the admin post, but how do I change the title of this thread to "Maisie Richardson-Sellers and the 'Second Young Female' "?

 

Yes. She's been listed as playing that character on imdb for a couple of months now.

 

Before Korr Sella, on IMDb (which anyone can edit - Korr Sella also appeared here) she was listed as "Emissary".

"Rachel" is Crystal Clarke and "Thomas" is Pip Andersen. This has been covered on multiple occasions. Korr Sella has been on IMDB for months.

I'm pretty sure I saw a tweet from one of Maisie's friends that confirmed it also. It said something along the lines of Congrats to my friend Maisie for landing the role of Korr Sella in Ep. VII. But I think it was deleted also.

Maybe she is there investigating the Empire's weapon? She suspected it would be used there?

 

Given in percentages how likely is it that they are one of the same?

I'm wondering about your most recent post, which surmises she might be the emissary that doesn't survive the first act. I'm assuming, perhaps dubiously, that this "second young female" is a relatively major role and would last longer than that.

 

That's what I thought too, but isn't that a HUGE coincidence? And before that, the coincidence that Rey steals the Falcon, they end up with Han, they go somewhere monitored by one of Leia's people and Leia ends up there?

 

No matter what role she plays, I'm sure she will do a good job. Any time her name crops up, she's always been rumored to be Obi-Wan Kenobi's granddaughter. If that is indeed her role, I hope they elaborate on that.

 

Well the fact the IMDb listing had the Summer 2014 name correct it seems likely Korr Sella is the same role. Its a very good guess I'd say. I couldn't give a percentage on that though.

Looking at the film, I'm not seeing how that break down is actually relevant for main characters. There was a rumor the Stormtrooper could have been female. So it might have been to see who fit those parts. But really, that break down seems sort of irrelevant to where the film went as far as there being two female leads about that age. I'm not seeing it.

 

Maybe Maisie will be a sith apprentice.
