    WANT.

i have been trying to figure out if there is a way to reasonably convert the multi-player LCG into a single player game just for this reason, but it's really not designed to be played that way and not adaptable. i think i brought this up elsewhere, but i want a Star Wars version of Arkham Horror (which feels to me like the best of all worlds in game play). it could be so awesome.

Yep, looks like you mentioned it here:

And I'd totally be down for an encounter driven RPG, either video game or tabletop.

Had this idea after hearing about a few cosmetics mods for XCOM 2. Basically just XCOM, but Star Wars. I pitched it on the reddit as a mod I'd be interested in if anyone had the skill to make it.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….

    Star Wars: XCOM Conversion

It is a dark time for the Galaxy, all major systems have fallen under the control of the Galactic Empire.

On Jedha, the Empire greedily harvest the planet’s supply of kyber crystal from the ancient Jedi ruins, and from the religious sects that still call the planet home.

However, a few brave men and women stand against this tyranny. The Rebel Alliance now sends one of their best commanders, and their operatives to investigate the Empire’s sinister plans for the planet....

Setting & Main Conflict: The primary setting I imagined would be Jedha in the months leading up to it’s eventual destruction by the Death Star. The conflict would involve you taking command of a Rebel cell loyal to the Alliance to investigate and sabotage the Empire’s efforts on the planet. Through this investigation you’d come in contact with Saw Gerrera and the Partisans also operating here. This would provide the crux of the morality system [expanded on below], and provide additional avenues for conflict. You’d also come closer and closer to uncovering the secret behind why the Empire is harvesting Jedha’s kyber crystals. Depending on how far you get into this investigation may dictate whether your cell escapes the ultimate destruction of the planet. This is meant to replicate the AVATAR PROJECT mechanic from base XCOM 2.

I chose Jedha because it gives a variety of urban and rural environments and would give the mod a good starting point for a focused map making effort where assets can easily be repurposed. Everything from city street shoot outs, to dusty valley ambushes, to ruined Jedi temples, and Imperial mining complexes and transports can be serviced from using Jedha as a setting.

Morality System: Like most of the great Star Wars games I wanted to implement the light and dark side in some way. I thought the best way to replicate this would be in the struggle between the greater Rebel Alliance, and the Partisans.

Throughout the game you’ll be given choices that increase your reputation one way or the other between the factions. You can also gain or lose infamy by actions during missions, such as destroying more of the environment. If your more ruthless in your battle against the Empire you’ll gain support from the Partisans, but lose support from the Alliance. If you go out of your way to ensure your mission lives up to the high morals of Rebel command you’ll gain favor with the alliance.

This can manifest itself as in-game bonuses. Perhaps by siding with the Partisans you gain more destructive equipment, or cheaper black market prices for materials and upgrades. Siding with Alliance maybe gives you a large recruitment pool, more funding, or access to X-Wing strafing runs or other battlefield assistance.

If your reputation sways too far to one side or the other, you could be disavowed by that organization, and they’d send hit squads to eliminate you. This could be other Alliance Cells sent to take over your mission and ensure you don’t interfere, or a Partisan hit-team that feels your too soft for what they have in mind.

Other factions: Jedha’s cosmopolitan society also gives plenty of opportunity to work and ally with other minor factions that want to see the Empire defeated. Everything from mysterious force orders, to criminal syndicates can help you in your objective, and may supply special equipment or operatives. Similar to the Resistance Factions mechanic of base XCOM 2.

Chosen Mechanic: Just like in War of the Chosen, the Empire will deploy special operatives against your cell as it becomes more successful in disrupting their efforts on Jedha.

    A few ideas:

Inquisitor: The dark hand of the Emperor, and his special envoy when dealing with especially troublesome rebel groups. A skillset similar to the Assassin. Prefers to be in close but possesses the power of the Force to give them an advantage.

Bounty Hunter: One of the most fearsome bounty hunters in the sector. This adversary is paid well by the Empire to help bring an end to your troublesome presence on Jedha. Skillset variable, though I’m imagining something similar to the Hunter. A ranged adversary.

ISB Special Agent: The man in charge of security surrounding Jedha’s Kyber harvesting operation. Able to quickly summon more adversaries to the action, and give them buffs to hit harder. Similar to the Warlock. They try to keep their distance, and protect themselves while sending swarms of additional Imperials at you.

Additional Enemies: What would XCOM or Star Wars be without a butt load of enemy types to throw at the daring Rebels. Thankfully most of XCOM’s base enemies could be reskinned to fit Star Wars pretty easily. Any base enemies not mentioned can probably be played around with to fit the setting, though perhaps some more work would be needed to modify them.

Stormtroopers: The basic enemy you’ll encounter. Just like Advent Troopers.

Stormtrooper Squad leaders: Just like Advent officers.

KX Enforcer Droids: Similar to Advent Mechs.

    AT-ST walkers: Sectopod

    Death Troopers: Upgraded Stormtroopers.

    ISB Agents

    Imperial Combat Assault Tank

You had me immediately at "Star Wars XCOM".

I wouldn't mind if it played out on a galactic scale, though, rather than just being on one planet.

Or, if you wanted a more localized and focused story, maybe a small group of original planets, still allowing for flexibility in narrative.

Not really an original game, but this looks like a really cool mod:

I mentioned some of my issues with Battlefront II in a separate thread last week, and I think this just goes to show how much more ambition those games could have. It's really kind of frustrating to me what Dice has been apparently prioritizing.

Like, this mod looks far from perfect, but I'd take it over Dice's game, hands down. But this isn't meant to be some mindless complaining, because what I'd really love to see is for Dice to really pick it up and give us something like this, but with their level of polish. I can't even fathom how amazing that would be.

Let's just say that I would probably play any Star Wars Game out there, but I would love a good flight simulator game, much like the old X-Wing and Tie Fighter games. You could play through either side the coin starting from after ROTS up into the OT.

You could build your character even modify your ship and then move up the ranks and have access to different ships in the fleet.

An open world game set on a Jedi/Sith war ravaged planet (Ruusan from Legends would be a good choice). It is more Skyrim/Fallout Open World meaning you create your character and from this "blank canvas" you can choose to make your character a Jedi, Sith, smuggler, bounty hunter then experience the story in a non-linear fashion.

Since "game" is open ended, I'll say an Old Republic (Now High Republic) game similar to Hellboy The Board Game, but less mission based.

My idea is not the best and maybe not the most creative but I thought it would be cool to just exist. The idea is to have a game similar to space engine but with the star wars galaxy instead. To add on to the game to make it more entertaining it could have open world planets that you can travel to and enjoy a fun different storyline every time you go to a different planet.

An open-world game set during the OT.
You play as a normal citizen and you can make choices such as joining the Empire or the Rebellion, or none.
You can get into smuggling, trading, the criminal-underworld or even upper-class society.

A SoulsBorne style game where you play as a Sith, I feel like Darth Bane would be the perfect fit for such a game.

I would play any/all of these games. We need more Star Wars games!

I came up with an idea that I've basically been thinking about for a long time but never really thought to flesh it out. The kind of Star Wars game that I would like to play would be about planning and executing strike team missions, based around the action scenarios of the films, such as escaping the Death Star in ANH, or rescuing Senator Palpatine from ROTS, etc, or at least just inspired by them. It would be a combination of Battlefront and like Metal Gear or something.

You would log on with up to three friends, or random players, and choose your era. You choose between three mission types: Rescue, Sabotage, or Escape. According to what mission you choose, you get assigned a proceduarly generated map where your objective, enemy locations, computer terminals, etc. are always random.

You each choose a character, and of course the available characters would be the obvious heroes of the films. Each character will have strengths and weaknesses that make a huge difference in how you will play out your mission, and you must assign the characters to perform certain tasks that they are suited for. These stats would include power, leadership, luck, piloting, tech, stealth, and others. So characters with high leadership, like Leia or Kenobi, would basically boost the percentage of mission success. Characters like Han or Finn could have luck (simulated by enemies missing you more), Rey and Kenobi would have a high stealth rating... Poe, Han, Anakin would have high piloting and so on. There would be the obvious combat strengths of Jedi or blaster characters, so if the mission doesn't go according to plan, it essentially becomes a fire fight. You would also have the option to play as a droid such as R2 or BB8 for maximum tech skills at the expense of limited fighting capabilities.

In Rescue, you and your team must plan a rescue of a character which will be controlled by ai. The mission would have three parts: approaching the enemy base, executing the rescue inside the base (which would be the heart of the whole mission), and getting the hell out with your team alive.

Sabotage would be similar, but your mission is to disable or destroy an objective. Say you chose the OT, you have to break into the Death Star or
Imperial base on Endor, and shut down a shield generator or whatever. The challenge would be the same as Rescue, but once your accomplish the sabotage, the
base is on alert, and under fire from the Rebellion/Resistance/Republic, so you have to make your way to a ship to get out before the base is destroyed, or you
    are defeated.

Escape missions would have you start already inside an enemy base, where you and your team simply must escape by any means. This would be like Finn and Poe's escape from the First Order base where you ultimately must commandeer an enemy ship and get out, or the OT escape in the Falcon from the Death Star.

For an example, you chose the PT and you choose Rescue. The map is a droid command ship. You and other players choose between say, Kenobi, Anakin, Padme, R2, or insert clone trooper here. You gotta get Chancellor Palpatine out. In the approach, which would be a one to two minute vehicle section, you come out of hyper space near the enemy base. The goal is to avoid enemy sensors (which would be marked on a mini map so you can try and fly around certain areas) and fly into a docking bay undetected. Whoever is playing as Anakin would stand a stand a far better chance at avoiding the sensors and not being detected. If someone chose to play as R2, they could temporarily jam the sensors for a few moments to get through.

Once inside, you must navigate through the map and find where the captive character is. You can do this using by staying undetected, quietly subduing any patrolling enemies, or even stealing a stormtrooper uniform and hiding in plain sight. If you bring a character that has tech capabilities like R2 (or a tech-minded clone I guess) you find a computer terminal and hack it. This would be simulated as a mini puzzle game for that player. The other players would provide cover. The tech player would then know the locations of the captive character, the enemy choke points, and so on. Using both/either stealth or blasting your way around, you must find the holding cell, hack/destroy the door, get your mate, and get out. The more stealth you use to accomplish everything, the more time before the base goes on alert. You then get the team back to your ship and escaping is essentially the same as the way the mission started. When flying out, the others support the pilot by jumping on the guns and shooting at any fighters in pursuit.

If you are detected at any point, in any mission, the mission becomes timed and all enemies are on alert. If the mission isn't accomplished before time runs out, you just get overwhelmed by an impossible number of enemies. So going over time would almost always result in game over, unless your team is close to escape.

Easy mode would have revives and less enemies. Normal would have no revives, more enemies. Hard would have very alert enemies and a boss (Vader, Emperor, Ren, Maul, etc.) which would randomly patrol the map. Defeating a boss would be extremely difficult, much more so than Battlefront, and certainly would not be possible with one blaster character. You might get really lucky and avoid the boss, but better be ready for a fight if you aren't.

The game would be as much strategy as action. Do you stay together as a team to cover each other, or risk splitting up to cover more ground and find objectives faster? Do you take a droid to find everything faster, or lean on a team with more firepower instead? Take a stealth team and go for the goal of being undetected, or go in guns blazing and put your fighting skills to the test? Can your team afford to leave a teammate back with the ship you came in to make sure enemy patrols don't find it and blow the mission....or do you need all hands on deck to make it? Will you be like Luke and wonder how your friend hasn't gotten you all killed with too much howling and blasting, or be like Han and prefer a straight fight over all this sneaking around....

That would be cool! I've been playing XCOM 2 a little lately, and I can't help but think how well it would work with a Rebel cell, or maybe a group of Clone Commandos.
