I like that the Mando turned the money over to Cara Dune and basically did the job for no pay after telling the villagers he wouldn't. Even at that early point in the story, he was already a few steps ahead, thinking about a safe haven to leave baby Yoda behind.

It remembered me the episode of the Clone Wars where Anakin and Ahsola were training farmers to defend themselves against Hondo.

Another great episode. I don't know how they manage to pull it off, but they take pretty much every filmmaking cliche and trope known to mankind and somehow make it work :D Also I can't handle the cuteness of that little green thing!

The show is definitely getting better for me as it goes on. Developing character depth and having actual heart instead of just feeling like concept art acted out.
I really wish Gina Carano was a better actress because she is amazing (unsurprisingly) at the physical work in the show. She's not the worst actress in Star Wars movies, but she's still quite rough around the edges. Hopefully she's given time to get better.

And dammit, idc what anyone says, the whole never removing the helmet thing is lame.

Yes Gina’s acting left a bit to be desired, and I didn’t get the whole red “eyes” ATST thing and no villager casualties was a huge stretch, but overall it was pretty good. Gina’s physicality was at least way more believable than 98% of the female action roles out there today. The red eyed ATST thing I cannot help but wonder if they were going for it to seem unmanned operating as a sort of drone or really large droid? Was there something said about that? My guess on the no villager casualties during the final battle just seemed like they were going unnecessarily soft. I mean they have shown dozens of people/creatures get disintegrated, a few people burned and stabbed to death amongst other things so I don’t get avoiding what would be totally realistic casualties on the villager’s side.

I like this episode a lot more than last week. Finally got a little bit of character development. The series is going to have to do a little bit of world building for it to have legs.

The show suffers a little bit from predictability. It seems clear that Mando will have to stop the source of the bounty.

We're now halfway through the season and I hope we get a couple of more episodes like this so there's more to build on for next season.

Maybe next Star Wars merchandising is a ball made of logs.
I will not give my opinion about this :D

Let me ask you - how much disappointed are you after watching ep. 4?

At least we saw the character Gina Carano is playing.

Yeah ... me too. Near 100% match, including the AT-ST, if I remember correctly in the Clone Wars episode there was some tank which Anakin sliced.

I like her play, I don't understand why people keep saying she's not a good actress, do you expect every actress to be Demi Moore or Angelina Jolie. I mean she play rough character, that fits her good, she is very well fitting to that role. I was also pleased to see her in that episode of Almost Human season 1 ( long time ago ah ).

    Hard agree.
The first two episodes were fine and interesting but these last two have actually made this world the show exists in feel real.
    --- Double Post Merged, Nov 29, 2019, Original Post Date: Nov 29, 2019 ---
No, but her delivery is awkward and wooden at times. She's not an overly experience actress and she's being asked to do more in this than she has before. In Deadpool ( a feature length film ) she barely speaks...for obvious reasons. They do this with other actors too. It happens.

She brings a great physicality to it without a doubt. But just look at Dwayne Johnson. Watch The Rundown or one of his other early films and then watch some of his more recent stuff. Having the pro-wrestling background helps but you can see a definite change in his abilities. It requires practice and experience. She's getting there. She just isn't there yet. Batista is another one; great presence but he's still growing as an actor and seems better with each role he gets. Gina will probably be the same way.

I would say he is a few steps behind  The first thing to do when you run is to remove the tracking device (cut all connections, throw you cell in the sewer, change the car, etc) ... quite obvious that if you have a tracker attached you can't hide no matter how isolated and underdeveloped the place is.

That scene with the "beautiful widow" was such a classical cliche ... I barely managed to hold my finger not to press forward ...

Well said. The only positive is the reveal of Cara Dune character. I hope to see her in more episodes and that she becomes one of the main characters.
    --- Double Post Merged, Nov 29, 2019 ---
I hope you right. The first 3 were great opening, this one really slows down the action. More relaxed, but also much more predictable and somehow not so interesting.

Had there been any word on if the soundtrack for chapter 4 has been released on Itunes yet? I’ve looked everywhere but I can’t find it.

Overall I thought it was a good episode. As others have said it did a good job of continuing to develop who the Mandalorian is as a person. I liked Cara Dune and I hope we get more of her in the upcoming episodes. I don’t get the criticism of Gina’s acting in this episode. It was just fine. “Baby Yoda” was once again super adorable. The one thing I did not like was the explanation of not taking off the helmet. We know that in during the Clone Wars time it was not the case. I’m hoping that there is some explanation of why the change. Whether it is something new since the purge or if it is something from older lore that they are getting back to.

I love how this episode is basically a tribute to Seven Samurai with an AT-ST replacing Tanegashima muskets as a supreme weapon of the bandits :D

    Something like this... ^^

There has to be an explanation for the Great Purge, so presumably we will find out what’s up with this “the Way” tribe, whether it’s a splinter cult or all that’s left of the Mandos who have doubled down on ancient dogma or something for survival.

EDIT: I'm still trying to figure out the timing... if the Mando has worn the helmet since he was 12 without taking it off, that's way before the mainstream Mando culture of Rebels' Sabine. So maybe The Way Tribe splintered off around the time of the Clone Wars/Siege of Mandalore?

    Point form, mini-review:

-Love the SWU version of- “toddler messing with the power windows” -schtick. This may be the best scene in the episode. Keep it up... s’good stuff!

-Planets in the SWU average about 18-27 sq. kilometres in total surface area. This is no longer something to roll our eyes at- it is something to quickly observe, then relish and enjoy.

-This “instructing villagers to defend themselves”- episode/, ...this is not so much bad writing, as it is an acknowledgement, wink, nod, and a smirk to the genres they’re drawing from. It was fun. At the same time, (having said all that), it doesn’t really make for much of a great episode, either, ...does it? But hey- those first three were dazzlers! ...Time to catch our breath!
(Regardless, watching Babyoda do the “feast-your-eyes-on-my-ultra-cuteness/birthday-party“ –gig was bloody fabulous. ...FABULOUS!)

-The owner/server of the “restaurant”... that was actually pretty neat. Not everyone in the SWU is a moisture farmer, ruffian, bounty hunter, Jedi, or military crony. Some people serve bone soup and cheerfully chat-up the new customers. I like that!

-As I recall, the next episode (e05) is a Full-Filoni, -and I’m very, VERY interested/excited to see how that one goes.

Unless it didn't make the final cut, I believe there's still some footage of Mando shooting storm troopers so it seems he goes back to eliminate the bounty. We haven't seen the other former imperial yet either.

I like it. The entire thing is similar to modern RPG games even down to loot and quests.
