I rewatched Cara vs Mando, its not a draw tell the end. She hits Mando 2X times more than Mando strikes her and he resorts to his flamethrower; showing weakness and dishonorable conduct in a hand to hand fight.

I retract what I said about Cara hitting Mando in the Beskar mask, she uses her metal bracers (wrist/forearm armor) when punching:

    74F96698-11BE-47EF-9631-E868BFB8D99D.jpeg

Its obvious she uses her forearm bracers to smite Mando, not her fists. The metal looks strong (possibly Mando Ore that has weathered); so I take back what I said that she unfairly punches a Beskar helm.

    ————————

So far my second viewing is much more enjoyable.

You think baby Yoda taught those kids how to be a Jedi while they were playing?

It's an aggravation. I like my health too well to give in to anger/rage. So, enjoy from a distance...;). Oh, you ask good questions.

Back to Mando. Since this is speculation: What if Mando and The Kid a permanent team up? Is Mando going to try to drop The Kid on another group of unsuspecting people?

I don't think so, after he was so quick to sus out the Kid would always be a target. Nor would he chance endangering the people he's left with.

Mando is in his twenties, perhaps early thirties. When Mando is old, if he survives all the killers around, The Kid would be around 110 years old. A teenager, like that great pic of a young Yoda type with long flowing hair. The Mandalorian can stay unmasked from now on out, and he could be as long lived as 800 or 900 years old like Yoda. A legend; Unnamed, never unmasked to see his face. He or she could be anybody who is designated for the suit. There are that many stories out there. Another Western figure, Zorro, had more than one generation behind the mask.

I’m merely jesting, anger must be banished. The way of the Jedi is peace. Thanks for the compliment. :)

Yes she was. Full story (up to now) here.

This is a street fight, there are no rules and there is no honor. She jumped on him without provocation, he has no idea what is she after. Only survivors count in such situation.

It's a helmet. He got stunned by the hit, no injuries just a moment of loosing balance. She used her gloves, not the bracers. The gloves are weighted-knuckle gloves with what looks like metal inserts covering the back of the hand and the knuckles. He survived the hit only because of the helmet. Using such gloves is inline with my previous statement about street fight.

Modern day example of such gloves used for motorsports here.

    Cara Dune gloves.

Her blaster is a heavy modified Type 14 Nambu, still to see the Star Wars name.

This was an amazing episode. Give me this more primitive Star Wars, throw in vibroswords and so on.. set in the Old Republic era.

Mandalorians not taking their helmets off in front of other people in this series does seem to conflict with what we saw in the animated series, but Filoni is heavily involved, so I'm sure there is some sort of explanation. It could be just this one group of Mandalorians that abides by that. My guess is the purge of Mandalore was even more brutal than we imagine, and it affected the survivors worldview greatly, to the point they adopted a new "way."

I'm still confused on the trackers thing too, really hoping they throw an explanation out by the end of this series. It does seem to work better the closer you get.

As for how the bounty hunter got to that planet, there was a quick throwaway line by the Mando before that scene; he was telling Cara Dune how they raised hell, and in a backwater place like that "word is going to travel fast" and they might want to think about moving on.... I'm guessing word got out that a farming village took down an AT-ST, and one Kubaz bounty hunter was smart enough to check it out.

I do want to see more Cara Dune... great character. Since this episode ended with them staying plane-side, I'm guessing that their paths will cross again sooner rather than later, like UgNolte in Eps 1-2.

I might have missed exactly how, but they knew each other before now, right? Or was this their first meeting?

Plus, what happened in Rebels and Clone Wars was decades ago. To quote Shmi: "But you can't stop the change. Anymore then you can stop the sun from rising."

All I can think it's something to do with the shame of the fall of Mandalore but then Rebels was after that too....seems odd and a bit contrived to give the character mystery rather than write him as mysterious...but that's just me.

You are wildly misinterpreting the scene. It wasn't taking the Mando down to prop Dune up. That's this weird thing people take away from any scene where a woman character bests a man at something. Before that, the Mando hadn't really struggled in a one on one situation but only when the odds seemed overwhelmingly against him. He was boring. He was omnipotent. The question is, if that were Greef Karga who got in that fight with him and the results were the same, would you feel this way still? The answer is no you wouldn't and it's obvious because every point you raise goes back to Dune being a woman.

They fought to a draw. Literally showing her as an equal. And yet here you are misrepresenting what happened and saying they somehow had her "easily best" the protagonist. Which literally didn't happen. I mean, you are actually lying about the context of the scene here. Do you not get that?

    Good lord.
That's kind of how fights work.

It doesn't seem to me that they knew each other before. In the cantina Cara gives the Mando her background, which implies they had never met. I think they kind of clicked because they recognized they were kindred spirits. Or at least they knew each other's type.

Gina Carano said she was filming season 2, so Cara will be back!

Gotcha! For some reason I was recalling that as a "catching up" conversation but thanks for clearing that up.

I really dig that the Mando is so adept at making both enemies and friends so quickly. And is a really good judge of character when it comes to which is which.

“Cara when she repeatedly jabs Mando in the face, you hear her bracers hit his Beskar mask and it makes a clanging noise like metal.”.

    Agreed.

I rewatched, (and turned up the volume). I certainly hear the clinks and clanks of metal on metal each time she strikes him on the helmet... *I also see her stretching/wringing her striking hand after the first or second hit* ...that’s “real enough” for me, -certainly in the SWU. — I also concede to error; mine was the original grievance, and I do withdraw it- (I’m sure the director is breathing a sigh of relief on that note.)
    ;)

I was surprised he gelled so quickly with Kuiil (Or UgNolte! :D) but pleasantly so. And who knew he could get IG-11 to work with him?!? (Until that little murder thing)

    Jawas, though...not so much :p

When I rewatched the episode, I really enjoyed preparing to battle the raiders. It felt like as others have said, “The Magnificent Seven.”

I am convinced Cara Dune is more than a shock trooper, my intial suspicion is she is ex-Mandalorian or is Mandalorian post Purge and has settled into her new life. Her questions about Mando not being able to take his mask off could be either her telling him its not worth it and settle down or a reaction to this tribe of Mandos who require never removing your mask.
