I was sure that I saw this somewhere. Good that they put them together :D This is definitely R1 series upgraded with repursorlift, that way Industrial Automaton overcame the main disadvantage of R1 - the tracked uni-pod which was very unreliable.

For the guard droids, they look very similar to those Duelist elite.

There was at least one A__. Show is no different without any profanity. Would love to be able to watch it with my young kids. Same goes for the movies. There’s just no reason for it.

if those words in Star Wars are a problem for you to show them to your young children, then you have to accept that you are in a small minority that finds those words that unacceptable in 2019 and the likelihood of this is incredibly small.

    Alright.

So, I loved it and it was fun, but this was the least Star Warsy episode so far.

It is related to Rogue One in that way.

This doesn't mean they are bad. It means their form moves differently as art than Star Wars usually moves.

Star Wars paints and moves in slow and big arcs which focus on symbols and the air of myth; pushing that heavily into the blocking and lighting itself. There is an openess to how Star Wars is shot - a glamour.

Rogue One and Mando 1-6 are gritty, hard, with a heavy foot to the pacing that thuds down like a solid punch to the chin that has a deafened slap of hitting human bone and flesh in silence.

This episode is a rough, back alley tumble akin in many shooting and editing styles to Fight Club.

It is done with high quality, dialed in, and sharp on its edges. Folks who enjoyed Rogue One should be quite pleased with this entry. :)

It isn't high on my list for Mando, only because it is not a primary Star Wars style of episode. I enjoy the high art style of Star Wars, so the others are more my speed.
But, this doesn't mean that it's bad!

It is a superb action show with solid contunation of the story's anchor on poetic justices. It's less Westerny and more Taken meets Oldboy-ish.

I really enjoyed watching Mando take out the droids. Such a nice way they choreograph his style of fighting without making it strongly feel like Holly-Fu.

As to swearing. I think that's interesting because Star Wars has been swearing since A New Hope.
D##n and H##l were both in the original Star Wars Trilogy.

    • "I have something here for you. Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn't allow it. He feared you might follow old Obi-Wan on some D##N fool idealistic crusade like your father did." --Obi-Wan, ANH
    • "Then I'll see you in H##L." -- Han, ESB
Han swears at least once more in ANH.
It's always been in Star Wars. Seems painful to care now since it's burned into its origin.

I suppose I can only offer sympathy. My mouth is a sailors mouth. I come from a fishing island where people died every year to the sea and no one had time to be polite about the harsh realities of life being a right b#### of a golden beauty and death, her boots she would easily choke your neck with underfoot.

I don't care about swearing. My swearing rules for my children are two:
    1) You don't swear to people. ("F- You", etc...) Because the emotional intent is rude - you're being an a## whether you're swearing or not.

    2) Don't suck at swearing! I don't care about swearing, but I hate hearing someone swear like a printer with a paper jam. The English language has a beauty and poetic rhythm to its profanties; use them right.

    I'm rambling...

    Anyway.
    Star Wars has always sworn.

    Good episode. Great action.
    Not Star Warsy in style.

    Good stuff though.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

I haven’t seen a “Code” yet but I haven’t seen anything that says they HAVE to kill. Only that they win, the strong survive, and act with Honor. I feel like he has changed but, he is just trying to be better. TINY is a big part of that. BD89C724-3E44-4B88-8EE7-2B1204056014.jpeg

    Oh, and also...

On the tangent of the story's pace - episodic vs arc.

There's more than one season of this. Nothing was ever said about wrapping the arc up in one season with a tell-all exposition style plotline.

I took it from episode one in the opening shot, just with its poise and gravitas, that this season was going to establish the myths and mysteries, and set up the inciting event which motivates Mando to go on his journey and reach the first climax of act one and cut off there.

In ANH terms, up to the get away from the Death Star and stop. That's what this season is. Act 1 of the arc plot.

    Not Act 1 through 3.

If we knew about Baby and Mando in 8 episodes, that would be one hell of a short plot considering where we started and the format of long-form story telling.

We're on a 10 speed bicycle in the lowest gear going uphill. Several revolutions of pedaling per one revolution of tire movement. We're not on a motorcycle in top gear.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

Hes just that strong if you noticed though his horns were snapped not all the way but big chunks of them. And he was the most beaten down in the cell.

    Sometimes the internet wins.

Just as I feel my back rising a bit, I see good folks doing their thing. Little things. Simple, kind, and calm. This is where the “real” Jedi action is at. Love you folks. Nicely done.

Having said that, I’m actually yearning for a (bit) of dark, deep, gritty SW, with a “wretched hive”, Tarantino-level of vulgarity and sleaze.

Wait...how does swearing equate to not being a decent person?
Like...how did a tangent about swearing in Star Wars end up relating to human decency and internet culture?

I swear like a mother f-er and I'm a pretty decent person. I've conversely met plenty who hate swearing and are straight a-holes to other people.

I don't see the connection between swearing and human decency.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

I’m quite with you on that notion.

My reference was to the warmth and acceptance shown toward what may be a less-than-common perspective.

    Ah.
    I get ya.

Yeah, Star Wars fandom is like a large family.
It's disfunctional and we argue a lot, but we're still family and you're one of us, so you have our familial respect regardless.

    Cheers,
    Jayson
