Mandalorian S2 Trailer Debut - Screenshots and Speculation

It looks nice! I'm excited to see where the story goes!

 

Was that lady sabine? I bet it was sabine

 

So it looks like the Crest is in distress in the first shot--back ramp hanging open, sparks coming off the starboard engine... Does it crash land on Ilum (or shockingly similar ice planet) in the 4th pic? So now Din has to get around on ships that stay on land/water...except not or Ilum or The Ice Planet That Is Not Ilum but maybe Mon Cal? And then surely the Banthas are on Tatooine? Is that where the fighting ring is? Greef and Cara appear to still be on Nevarro... But there are X-wings and biker scouts and TIEs and SD hallways, oh my!!!

 

1: I do not think that was Sabine, Sabine may not always wear a helmet, but she's not been seen without Mandalorian armor. 2, the character is shown while the screen talks of "Jedi" so I don't know who it is. Ahsoka to my knowledge has never been seen wearing all black, so i would rule her out.

As for the ice planet, who knows. It certainly does look like the ship is in distress in the opening shot. I kind of thought they went to Hoth for some reason, but it could be almost anywhere

 

The hooded character who appears at 49 seconds into the trailer is being portrayed by current WWE Superstar Sasha Banks (real name Mercedes Justine Kaestner-Varnado), who has never acted outside of her role with the WWE.

Fun fact: Sasha is a first cousin to music producer Daz Dillinger, hip-hop recording artists Brandy Norwood and Ray J, and rapper Snoop Dogg, who is featured in her current wrestling entrance song.

 

Oh yes, more NR presence which is good. Let's see what Jon and Dave are keeping under their sleeves!!

I think it's a new character. It might be a misdirection from the trailer but let's see. It might be another lost padawan that lived hiding all these years.

I think it's highly unlikely that Lucasfilm would put the responsibility of creating the live-action version of a character as iconic as Sabine on the shoulders of a performer with no formal acting training like Sasha Banks.

It's far more likely that her character is brand-new to the franchise.

 

I just meant why would Mando be taking a water ship if the Crest was in good shape to fly? But yessssss, bring on the Quarren...

 

Perhaps, but since Sabine Wren is a character created by Dave, I highly doubt even if a lot of fans don't know her, he would choose a non-Asian/South Asian performer and would aim to stay as close to character as possible, but who knows? We'll know for sure on October 30th or afterwards

 

It appears to be the Razorcrest. Markings look the same:

 

Sasha has the skills to handle the role of Sabine despite not having any formal acting training, but the backlash Lucasfilm would face if the character weren't "done justice" due to Sasha's lack of training is a "can of worms" I don't see them wanting to open.

 

I do believe will get to see Sabine in this show. If not on screen, then at least off screen, but I think we will see her. Somehow Ashoka will learn of Baby Yoda and either seek him out, or Bo Katan will seek out Ashoka and Sabine after learning of Baby Yoda to help Mando on his quest

Its also possible that we could simply not see Sabine's face at all. Typically when she was with Mandalorians, like this group of Mandalorians, she kept her helmet on. She did not want to offend them I guess. In this case they would have options of using voice actors along with an actor in the costume, or stunt in the costume.

I do not think her and Ahsoka will have a large role. The reason is simple. There are two people in the Galaxy with any hope of knowing where Baby Yoda came from, they are Luke and Ahsoka. His quest is to get this information, this will not happen in episode 1. He has to go on a journey, a journey that will change him as person. Much like Luke changed during Empire strikes back. He might even lose Baby Yoda at the end of the season for all we know, and have to enlist the aid of Sabine and Ahsoka to get him back.

I think in his fight with the Moff, he will encounter Bo Katan, and that is how he will eventually get in touch with Ahsoka, Bo knows what a Jedi is and likely also knows Yoda.

She certainly can be. Its not a comment on her, I was just stating that Sabine never appeared without any of her Mandalorian armor.
