SPECULATION Mark Hamill doesn't accept the new trilogy as canon?

No they only want to hear the negative. How dare you remind us of the fact that Mark eventually has come to love Luke in TLJ and thinks its the best movie since Empire.

Well as the senior Vice President of the Rian Johnson fan club I must say we only bring it up to combat the silly narrative that Hamill hates the film/the sequel trilogy/the new Star Wars which has been pushed pretty heavily since the release of The Last Jedi.

I am still trying to figure out why people think Mark Hamill and Luke Skywalker are one and the same.

Were just think Mark has a much better grasp on the story and the characters than Ryan.

Jedi don't do that? Ooooh you mean like when Obi Wan and Yoda could gather the remaining Jedi and try to kill Vader and the Emperor but they instead went in exile and left the galaxy with no hope.

Yeah Jedi certainly don't do that...

Is he a screenwriter, a storyteller? A cineast? He also said he wanted a darkside Luke?

I have to say two things. Firstly, Luke was never one of my favourite characters until this film. Now I really like him and his arc.

To me how we find him in LTJ makes perfect sense. Yoda said Anakin was too old to be trained at first and yet he was much younger. With Luke they had little choice as he was their last hope (along with Leia). The fact he did not act like other Jedi makes sense because he came to it all late, training was limited, he was never a padwan and had no other Jedi to work or mix with. Living in a world where there are no other Jedi I think it's easy to become cynical.

The other thing is I respect Mark even more for coming out and saying what he thinks.

Mark's just following his Master's tradition. Sir Alec didn't like Star Wars either.

    This is way meta!

It may be the most entertaining one since Empire for casual audiences, but it's not the best Star Wars movie since Empire.. far from it. It doesn't come close to Revenge of the Sith or The Force Awakens in my opinion.

I thought it was a letdown sequel and Finn (who has the second best actor in this trilogy) was unimportant to the plot until they crammed him onto the same ship as Rey. Finn was just there to do some more action stuff, so his action figure would sell better :(

I just realized who uploaded this to Youtube that troll JarJar Abrams. The fact is that we keep seeing bits of interview where the only thing we're given is something about Mark disagreeing with the direction RJ took. The person who uploaded the video, and the person who posted it here, have an agenda, and that's clear. The one brief line at the end doesn't offset all the previous lines against where they went. Once I stop seeing people post videos and articles where 95% of what Mark says is anti-TLJ, then I won't act like that's what's happening.

I have the same thing. Luke was only interested in the originals when he was conflicted. Really conflicted. The scenes with Yoda in the originals, the two confrontations with Vader. In this movie he was exactly how I wanted him to be. Otherwise he would have been like this:

A guru....................I understand why people would like that (the battlefront version) but it is not a precondition for a good character or writing

I watched the interviews with Mark after I watched TLJ, and I'm not surprised to see that he shares the same opinion as me. He is a fan who understands Star Wars and, most importantly, the character of Luke Skywalker. He's not like Harrison Ford who never gave a d*mn about his character.

The funny thing is the more Harrison Ford gave a d'mn the more fans loved him. he was just like Han Solo.

Han: Look, I ain’t in this for your revolution. I’m not in it for you Princess. I expect to be well paid. I’m in it for the money.

Wait I've seen this interview before, it came out before TLJ and the line he's referring to, which is edited out, is "It's time for the Jedi to end". Why can I not find the original interview in order to provide context?

It’s Hamill's best ever performance and most interesting portrayal of Luke. He was left out of TFA for obvious and well documented reasons. He is compromised in TLJ for clear and obvious reasons. RJ managed that and gave us a remarkable Luke. MH should be very grateful to him.

Well it's not like its a terrible movie, but its not a good star wars movie...reminds me of the petition to have this movie be remade as a canon movie and have IX delayed
    :p.
