SPECULATION Mark Hamill doesn't accept the new trilogy as canon?

Love him as an actor, but there's a reason he doesn't write the movies. Let's not forget he wanted an evil clone Luke. To think about Luuke or Luuuke from legends in the last jedi makes me cringe. Evil clones only work in bill and ted

No one sees the perfection of Luke's arc story : it all started with a glass of milk , it ends the same way ,it's poetry, it rhymes, full circle .

I thought of an alternative idea where Luke' character in TLJ could have been consistent with the one at the end of ROTJ, but still have him hiding out on Ahch-To. Suppose some of the Jedi apprentices, who were small children, survived Ben's rampage (perhaps Ben couldn't bring himself to kill small children at that time). So Luke would be hiding out on Ahch-To with these kids, and in order to protect them he could not be away chasing after Ben or helping the Resistance. Then Rey found them, and Luke would feel like a new father figure to her, and the kids would feel like her younger siblings. She got comfortable in that setting, and it would be a struggle for Rey to remind herself that she needed to get trained and then leave the planet to go back to help the Resistance on her own. This way, the story would have been about Rey with Luke as a supporting character, instead of the story we got in TLJ where it's about Luke's redemption with Rey being more like a supporting character in his journey.

A very large portion of the fan base obviously wanted to see more of the OT characters, their stories and adventures on screen. I don't understand why Disney/LF did things the way they did. They need to make a Luke film or trilogy.

Mark hates TLJ. It's clear to anyone without an agenda for pumping this film up. Why anyone would want to without being paid is a huge question.

Start your film with the line:

"This will begin to set things right."

Pointing that "agenda" finger is easy when you have an agenda of your own. He's been very open about his opinion of what he would have done with Luke. Nowhere does he say or even infer that he hates the film. You don't find it to be odd that he'd jockey for his family to be in his movie that he supposedly hates to be part of himself?

C'mon now, you've made it clear that you hate the film and that is fine on it's own. Making things up to make yourself feel better about hating it isn't a good way to go about it.

Even if Mark really hates the ST, I still love it regardless.

Hilariously, a film that asks you to question your heroes and myths has this meta-narrative attached to it.

    Gosh, that is beautiful.

Sidenote: Alec Guiness hated Star Wars.
