I always felt Hamill's performance in TFA underrated and that he did an excellent job.

However, he's done very little meaningful acting in the past thirty years.

That's a looong time ago on a set far, far away.

So, one has to wonder; does Hamill still have it?

I don't think what we saw in TFA can really be called acting. I mean all he did was stand there in costume and stare awkwardly at Rey for a few seconds. Even if it was acting it was hardly enough to judge.

I know my opinion might sound harsh but I'm just speaking from my own perspective.

Actually he also turned a bit and lifted back his hood :D

    But, still...

    without blinking...

    that stare...

    that JEDI FORCE STARE.

I bet that took a few rehearsals to get just right ;)

That scene was powerful. His facial expression said it all, no words were needed. You could see the pain in his eyes, and just know his story.

The best part is that we will see him in action in Episode 8. The next film is going to be Luke's movie. He's going to be all over the teasers, trailers, posters and all interviews leading up to the release. I think he can handle it. He's Luke Skywalker.. He doesn't really have to "act" IMO. His performance will come across as legit regardless.

Mark Hamill did what he supposed to do. He was supposed to not be able to tell which way he is leaning....... and he did that

I think Mark's performance mixed with the John Williams score of "The Jedi Steps and Finale" did perfect to fit that scene. If you want to relive that musical moment, just picture the scene in your head and also consider how much music affected the way that Mark Hamill's performance came across to you as the viewer. It really brought out the Luke we all wanted to see a hundred fold...

Oh for sure buddy! Actually I am so happy that it ended this way without a word from him. If he had spoke it would have lost the mystery...........

I feel like that ending was the ending I had been waiting for since the ending to TESB. That ending was beautiful and gave you a since of "To be continued" just like the end of TFA. They mirror each other in so many ways.
