Mark Hamill returns in Ireland for ep IX! Ahch-To in ep IX!

Um, that's not what the tweet says. It's marketing for TLJ home release.

 

I don't get how anyone could possibly think that we won't get Luke in EP IX as a force ghost. I think the only question sis "how much" Luke and whether or not JJ makes use of the now canon ability to do things in the physical world.

 

I think the fact that they can do more then just sit on logs (bring down literal lightning) now is a dead giveaway that'll he'll be in 9. The question now is will he be a cameo telling the whole story like Obi-Wan. Or is it so much bigger?

 

But Mark Hamill is such a master at it.

 

Mark Hamill is still a draw for a large portion of the fan base. If (and it is very much an if) there is any backlash, Luke Skywalker's appearance can greatly minimize that as many TLJ haters will still go watch 9 just to take in his last hurrah. Disney is aware of this, and the longer they can keep those fans coming, the better the odds they can win some back over. Even if they don't, they still want their money. Add that there was a perfect lead up to it, and it totally makes sense narratively to have him in there... only RJ would deny him lol... seriously though, there's no logic to not having Luke in EPIX.

The question is for how long and in what role. Wise council, ghost warrior, reborn warrior? In two years we'll be all over here discussing it.

I agree and it would be nice if these discussions would not get personal, but this happens sadly from both sides of the ocean.

Of course there will be a Force Ghost Luke, that's why he died. And the lovely thing with Force Ghosts is that they don't really die. They're alive, but passive. They cannot intervene in person but only by transmitting their wisdom and letting their apprentices find their own.

The point is, they don't want Luke to dominate the final episode of a trilogy that is about Rey and Kylo. They are Luke's legacy.

It suprises me how some people who claim they never want to have anything to do with the sequel trilogy ever again and claim that they're not interested in IX or in actually seeing the movie, are still patrolling the sequel fora like parabalani. I think those haters are definitely going to see IX, pencil and noteblock ready.............because they're going to tell the world how "bad it is". I'd rather not have Lucasfilm try to win them back.

 

Unfortunately for you, like any of us, what Disney does is not our decision.

 

Hmm, did he actually say he will be there for filming? This kinda seems like reading too much into it.
Though I'm sure Luke will be back, there's really no reason at all for Ahch-To to be back.

 

My vote is wise council. Without Leia, they'll need someone from the OT to support Rey.

 

Unfortunately? No IT IS fortunate that we don't have a say.

 

It barely matters what the Darth Nihlus Coalition does. They are short termers no matter what.
They will mostly come out for IX or they won't and then once the big three legacy characters are out so are they and Star Wars must go on without them.

I'm tired of the teeth gnashing, the sack cloth and ashes routine, the fervent hostility, and cancerous mentality. They can take their little ten and thirty dollars and go watch Phantom Thread or read their young adult novels or seeth in a corner or whatever pleases them best and allow those of us that enjoy and even love what LFL is producing to it even if the ca$h flow is ruduced to "mere blockbuster" levels.

My empathy well is running dry with the negativity. I'm truly sorry they didn't enjoy the episode but I'm not sorry I loved it and all that is being contributed by the haters is pure toxicity and even entropy and it is getting to the point time to apply sharp elbows in moving them out if they are committed to making sure everyone is at least as miserable as they claim to be.

 

Maybe Mark Hamill just likes Ireland's pubs and is visiting new friends. Maybe its nothing to do with Star Wars IX.

 

Just ingore 'm. Always remember that the critics raved about TLJ and there is absolutely nothing wrong with you if you love TLJ. I do to. You don't have to pay the slightest attention to all the haters. Just share what you love about Star Wars. Indeed, hating makes one miserable.
