Maybe Mark is going to ireland for st. Patrick’s. :)

Wasn’t episode 9 scheduled to film in Argyll, Scotland in June this year? I read that somewhere.

There was a brief story about RJ scoping Scotland for his new trilogy, closesly followed by the story of GL checking out a Belfast studio, though both were pretty swiftly debunked and dismissed.

Most likely promotional tour and considering TLJ DVD comes out shortly, he might also be marketing Skellig some more for Ireland Tourism.

Another thing is EP IX begins filming in June/July in Argyll, Scotland under the production name ''Black Diamond''and especially around The Rest and Be Thankful Mountain as revealed in a Scottish newspaper.

    https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/entertainment/movies/movie-news/new-star-wars-movie-shoot-11774216

Now the disinformation part is that it's supposed to be For Rian's trilogy but since he hasn't even finished a script yet, they can hardly start filming in June/July.

So EP IX it is...and yeah I do believe Mark to be a force ghost in this one..and much more true to the OT character than the ST one.

Luke can could now potentially comeback by the new time travel system we have seen in Star Wars Rebels. I would hate for this to happen tbh I hate the white one time travel thing anyway. Someone would have to save him in that dimension though.

I think its too early for MH to be filming anything for episode IX. Like previous posters have speculated, he could just be vacationing there. I doubt its even for marketing of the bluray, which has to be packaged shipped and in stores in two and a half weeks.

As for Luke in the story, for better or worse I can't imagine JJ undoing Luke's death. What's done is done and TLJ is now canon. Best thing to do is use Luke as a force ghost in IX, and just do the very best they can with his character and get him right at the end. I kind of like the idea that Luke won't appear to Rey at all in the movie and instead will appear once or twice to Ben to torment him. Ben is actually family to him while Rey is someone he was aquainted with for like 2 days. The relationship is Lule/Ben, not Luke/Rey.

Yeah I remember in an interview a while back Mark Hamill said England was his second home especially Ireland as he has spent so much time in uk filming. So he could just be taking a break. I like your little theory and thoughts on ep IX.

They will not use the Rebels storyline in a live action film. After Rian got lashed by fans over the unknown force powers? where he had to scramble to explain? there is no way they will use the time travel idea to introduce and/or reintroduce characters.
The casual movie going public, the ones that make up for about 700 million dollars of box office receipts, will never buy it, because they don't watch Rebels and would never understand.

This is SO true. I agree, we will never see any of that time travel stuff mentioned in the live action movies. Star Wars being able to use time travel is a slippery slops I'd much rather not go down.

If they are smart, they will use those gates in the cartoons to view and learn from different times, but refrain from using them to change history. Make Ezra saving people become an exception or the rules change.

This gives me the terrifying flashbacks of the build up to a star wars movie under JJ Abrams. The agony.

Way too early for filming. Perhaps if Luke is indeed a force ghost as I suspect, we'll at least get to see him perform some next level Yoda/lightning type stuff. I guess it's the next best thing to having him back in the flesh. I don't think JJ is going to pull a Gandalf move.
