i understand the initial shock. but when i want to like something i make an effort to try to understand it.
i still have my quibbles with TLJ, but i do think Johnson is a mad-in-love fan and did what he thought was best and achieved something very special.
i don't love it all, but i do love it over all. : D

 

maybe Hammil liked TLJ, but I'm sure Hamill did not like it.

Pretty much exactly what I've been saying. A narrative version of the old telephone game where one person whispers something into the ear of the next, and then so on. Just pure garbage method of building a set of movies you already know is going to be a trilogy.

#FireKathleenKennedy. Its clear she's incredibly bad at this and her ideas have failed miserably.

And, as stated, its clear that JJ is probably going to pave over whatever RJ did to try to bring the Saga back on track. 8 is going to be the joke of The Saga.

The problem being, I think the damage has already be done. Trying to get it back to where it needs to go will only further expose the fact that they had no idea what they were doing. And at this point, if JJ does retcon say Rey into being a Skywalker, people will only think he did it because the concepts in TLJ flopped with the audience.

That's one of the pesky problems when you overly subvert expecatations, people lose trust in anything being concrete in the narrative, and that's a VERY dangerous place to leave them. If they can't trust you, you can't tell them stories, because they won't believe you.

 

*You think it flopped with the audience with Rey being a nobody.* For the record, it fits with the rest of the main protagonists. Luke a farmboy and Anakin a slave. How is Rey any different? She's a scavenger. The only person that has a "noble" birth is Ben.

 

It doesn't matter what I think. If JJ reverses it, people will think he did it for that reason. Especially those that hate Star Wars and LIKED her being Random.

Perception is reality.

 

And who are these people that "hate" Star Wars, if I may ask? I've always been a strong proponent of Rey Random and making her a Skywalker all of a sudden would be deeply disappointing. Would I moan about it for months? Not really. But it would very much tarnish Rey's journey not only in TLJ, but in TFA as well.

I'll drop the clouded, but having every single one of your posts being some backhanded slap at TLJ is getting pretty tiresome.

 

I restrict complaining to the 'hated' thread and this one was really not meant serious and more like Mark often complains if his name is written that way.
