The ROTS lightsabers were really good, I liked the Anakin changing lightsaber (blue to red). However, during the day the blade is clear which I did not like.

I remember getting to a point where people were complaining the marketing was too much for TFA and TLJ. I guess everyone has a different sweet spot. I expect hype to ramp up regardless.

There are lots of different lightsabers ranging from cheaper plastic ones to some that are more expensive and screen accurate. Lightsaber technology has come a long way.

Also, I'll take the Black Series figures over the Power of the Force figures. Luke was really hitting the gym back then.

Indeed there is Lv1 light up Shoto size lightsabers 10.00 USD lightsabers, there is Electronic Lightsabers at 20-35.00 USD. Finally there is the FX. I am sad they passed on making Basic (fully collapsible) lightsabers at 7.99 USD.

Sure looks like the marketing has picked up this week. New magazine articles, new promotional video, etc.

    stinks.
I think all of the ST and anthology films marketing campaigns have been awful. The trailers have been inconsistent, timing terrible and tv ads irritating.

And today was right on cue.

Nowadays with the advent of the internet, online articles, and twitter, I wonder if Disney is holding back on traditional televised ads. Its a lot cheaper to post a tweet than cut new trailers or print artwork for stores.

It may be cheaper but at least GL connected with people and made them feel a part of it during the PT marketing.

It's like they're doing the opposite with the ST.

It certainly seems TRoS marketing is at a Sandcrawl rather than light-speed. Disney has bitten off a lot this year: Toy Story 4, The Mandalorian, TRoS, Frozen 2.

It seems like just as I spoke up, the EW issues hit the shelves and I guess there is a tv spot that is now running. But yeah, the marketing overall seems to be bowing to the film making side. I get not wanting leaks. Totally makes sense, but surely there is a middle ground?

They read this thread and were like, “Oh yeah we have TRoS to promote!” *Jumps from Mandalorian marketing room back to TRoS advertizing room which is now infested with porgs and the cobwebs of the Ewok Spider:

Sorry for the late response as it’s been crazy in work. I want a suprise with the new characters but I don’t want a suprise with any OT character in this new Trilogy.

I’m on the same page with you regarding Rey/Kylo as I’m glad they’ve shown very little in the Trailer as I’m interested to see where their story ends between the light and dark. I’m glad they didn’t show any images of other characters in danger as I don’t want to know where Finn, Poe, Rose, etc, stories end up in TROS. Right now Keri Russell is a mystery and that’s good.

On the other hand, if you are essentially bringing back Palpatine from the dead, that really scares me as it’s a HUGE risk. When you bring back Luke in TLJ and he’s a ‘get off my lawn’ hermit, that’s a risk. When you bring back Han/Leia who are essentially divorced, that’s a risk.

The irony is I want Disney to take risks with the new characters and let THEM take the franchise in a new direction. Don’t use the old characters to drive the drama by messing around with their arc after ROTJ.

My biggest reservation about TROS is the return of Palpatine, so my answer to you is I want to know beforehand how they are reviving him? I could love the whole movie and than it could fall like a house of cards if the return of Palpatine is ridiculous. If we’re talking about Snoke as the villain in TROS, than I don’t want to see anything in the Trailer about him.

That’s why I’ll continue to say that they should have focused on the new characters in the ST cause you can take them wherever you want. Once you mess with the old characters, there’s a chance you divide the fans like TLJ Luke.

So you essentially want to see Palpatine just the way he was in ROTJ. At the very minimum 30+ years have passed. He should look somewhat different and even more warped by the dark side. Save that for the screen.

I don’t want to see him still alive as that sort of diminishes ROTJ. I may be able to buy if he’s a holocron or trying to possess other characters trying to get back to life.

Then wouldnt it be best to see him in the film rather then a commercial?

I rarely delve into spoilers but I want to know the context about The Emperor and how he returned. Again, I don’t want to know anything about the new characters as the Trailers pretty gave us the bare bones so I’m excited to see where their story goes.

But JJ has a history of ‘bringing back’ returning characters which is always a risk (just ask fans of Star Trek and Khan). If JJ actually moved this franchise forward and was focused solely on new characters, then this wouldn’t even be a discussion for me (sorry but he’s not the most original guy regarding his stories). But if he is bringing back a character that supposedly died 30 years ago, I just want to know the context so I don’t think it’s ridiculous.
