Honestly, Black Panther has a lot of "bests" in the MCU for me:

    Best score

    Best villain(s)

    Best worldbuilding

    Best acting

    Arguably best story

Overall, I think it's safe to say I consider it the best MCU film.

After seeing Black Panther, I'm interested in seeing the rest. I've only seen Iron Man and Ant-Man (don't ask me why), but now I want to catch up before Infinity War comes out. What movies are essential and what could be skipped? Does Netflix have all of them? Or do I have to get the blu ray?

Captain America trilogy - for Steve and Bucky background and history, introduction of Black Panther and Spider-Man.

Thor 1 & 3 - first for the introduction of Thor and Loki, third because it is fun.

Avengers 1 (for team-up) and Guardian's of the Galaxy 1 (introduction of Guardians).

Doctor Strange - introduction of Strange.

If you want to know how Vision and Scarlet Witch (and Klaue) were introduced, watch also Avengers: Age of Ultron.

You can read MCU wiki to understand where all the Infinity stones were recovered.

I think Disney pulled them off Netflix, but I can't confirm - we don't have Netflix here.

You already watched Iron Man and Ant-Man, so you should be all right. But, this is quite a homework. :D

Everything the good @LadyMusashi said... and potentially Spider-Man Homecoming, because i) it’s great, ii) it expands the Stark/Parker link and iii) because future Lando of the past Donald Glover has a small part in it.

Yeah, I don't think they have them all, only the newer ones. Thor Ragnarok will probably be on soon-ish

Well, I bit the bullet. I got phase one on blu ray coming tomorrow! My wallet-brain isn't happy, but hopefully my nerd-brain will be.

To be honest, I'd say only these bolded are probably essential watching material going into Infinity War- the rest you can probably get by without-

    Iron Man
    The Incredible Hulk
    Iron Man 2
    Thor
    Captain America: The First Avenger
    The Avengers

    Iron Man 3
    Thor: The Dark World
    Captain America: The Winter Soldier
    Guardians of the Galaxy
    Avengers: Age of Ultron

    Ant-Man
    Captain America: Civil War
    Doctor Strange
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2
    Spiderman: Homecoming
    Thor Ragnarok
    Black Panther

That being said, if you want to see the appearance of each infinity stone (which are likely to be important to Infinity War) , also check out:
    Thor: The Dark World
    Doctor Strange

And of course, some movies may not be necessary to drive the plot, but they're just great fun:

    Iron Man
    The Incredible Hulk
    Ant-Man
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2
    Spiderman: Homecoming
Black Panther (especially- probably the best on the list)

I was actually hoping for close to 3 hours, like 2 hours and 51 minutes. Of course, a longer runtime does not equal better quality, but in this case I think the huge ensemble would only benefit from it.

Then again the runtime is just a rumor so nothing's official yet.

What are your guys rankings of all the films?

I think this is where I sit, worst to best:

    Iron Man 2
    Thor
    Captain America: The First Avenger
    Thor: The Dark World
    Iron Man 3
    Doctor Strange
    Iron Man
    The Incredible Hulk
    Ant-Man
    Captain America: The Winter Soldier
    The Avengers
    Avengers: Age of Ultron
    Spiderman: Homecoming
    Guardians of the Galaxy 2
    Black Panther
    Captain America: Civil War
    Thor: Ragnarok
    Guardians of the Galaxy

Clearly, I appreciate the newer stuff especially

Interesting list @cawatrooper... not sure I could capably rate them all myself as I find that those at the sharper end shift about depending on what I want to watch.

Off the top of my head though Iron Man 3 and the first Cap film are further up the list for me. Ragnarok, Winter Soldier, Avengers, Spidey and Guardians would be my top picks with The Dark World, Hulk, Strange and Guardians 2 languishing at the bottom.

So, I've been going backwards after seeing Black Panther. I'm confused, I thought they wanted to be hidden? But after watching Civil War it's clear that people know of Wakanda.

The world knows of Wakanda but only as a relatively poor farming nation not as a country with leading edge tech.

I'm not a huge superhero films fan these days, but I still follow a lot of it (I guess it's a habit from when I was a kid :p). Generally majority of MCU films land in the 6/10 region for me, but I have to say that what the Russo brothers are doing is definitely above average. I like how Infinity War looks like a comic book with all the colours, outlandish designs etc. Definitely looking forward to this film.
