Ok, so who else had a bit of a 'moment' when Patrick Stewart's (presumably Charles Xavier!) uttered "we should tell him the truth" in the middle of the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer?

It made me grin and gave me goosebumps! It may mean The Illuminati (from the comics) are in, mutants or the x-men may finally be introduced in the MCU and I love Patrick Stewart are Xavier

Now I just want Kamala and Peter to meet and become friends, just like in other adaptations. (Most recently Square Enix's Avengers game. In the comics, Kamala is a giant Peter Parker Spider-Man fan, but she's friends with Miles Morales' Spider-Man.)

I see the Twitterverse is alight with protestations about the fact they've changed Kamala's power set - presumably to dodge comparisons with Reed Richards when F4 make their MCU debut?

That's a good point! I noticed but was pretty blasé about it. I thought they may have changed it for budget purposes, but your suggestion makes so much more sense.

Just a thought that occured to me on my way home today:

WARNING - REAL WORLD TOPICS AND RACISM INVOLVED.

How is it that William Hurt's General/Secretary Ross will be replaced by Harrison Ford, but Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa won't be? I feel like you can't say that it's because the role is too iconic or too big, because wouldn't you WANT to replace someone if the role was large enough? That way you can still make money off of their presence in the story? To me, with this latest replacement, it feels like the reason has been revealed to be race. (As I always suspected.) Replacing a minority in (semi) bad faith is something Marvel did in Iron Man 2, but it was a different time back then. Doing so now would bring all sorts of social media and public backlash, no matter how they spun it. This I understand. But to do the same thing for William Hurt's character to me just screams "we're afraid of the backlash," instead of "we want to do good by the character and the actor." Anyways, that's my mini-rant for the time.

Honestly, I'm curious to see how Harrison tackles the role, but I'm also annoyed that they feel comfortable going this way for so many actors and roles but not for T'Challa.

Wakanda Forever is now gracing the screen and the speculation, rumours and alleged timelines for upcoming MCU projects is back on the table...

So what's next for you? What cinematic fayre are you most looking forwards to, what are you hoping to see or have you had your fill of the Marvel pie now?

For me, it's Guardians 3 - rounding off the story for the last of the Phase 1 and 2 characters and after that I'm still keen to see the X-Men back in some live action form.

The franchise effectively rebooted the comic book movie after the faltering steps of Joel Schumacher's Batman films, and arguably paved the way for Favreau and Marvel to gamble on Iron Man and kicking off the MCU as we know it. There's been some great screen versions of characters - some so well cast, like Logan and Professor X, that they've long outlasted the films they were originally linked to - but overall it's been really hit and miss with the movies. A decent start followed by a well received first sequel, but subsequently let down by weaker third (and fourth) films.

Honestly more interested in what the shows do than the movies for most of next year, but I'm excited for Captain America 4 and Shang-Chi 2 whenever those come out! I'm not tired of Marvel per se, but I am tired of the mediocrity and half-hearted attempts at themes and concepts in movies. Yes, this may sound harsh, but that's how I feel. Marvel hasn't committed to a lot of ideas or concepts in their movies recently, but it about faith or the multiverse, or complex villains. This year in particular has been a tough one. Frankly I'm just hoping that next year and leading into Avengers 4 & 5 they sort of pick up steam again.

I didn't realize Quantumania will be released this coming February 2023 along with Mando Season 3! What a slate! The MCU for me is still relevant. Thor love and thunder didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth; I had a great time watching Dr. Strange:MoM, loved She-Hulk; the only series for me, that was a bit weak, was Ms. Marvel, for the most part it was pretty good, no repeat viewings for me on that front, unless for research purposes...

Ok, so we're still buzzing from all the news on new Star Wars content after Celebration... but can we just take a moment to also remember that the (current) Guardians of the Galaxy are going for one last ride in a month's time - and if my fears for the cast are concerned, I'm not emotionally prepared for what's coming :(

IMO the MCU is in a tough place. Their achievement building to Endgame was iconic. Endgame itself was an emotional powerhouse. Final battle, I believe, is one of the most emotional movie moments ever since SW in 1977. I do not believe the MCU will ever top this. Just listen to this audience reaction
