Yep, they definitely look to be taking a steer from GotG and opting for a bit more humour and being slightly less earnest than the previous 2 movies - not that there was anything wrong with that. Knowing his back catalogue, there's no doubting it will be a bit of a fresh take coming from Taika Waititi.

Hunt for the wilder people g
Looks like a great film plus I like Sam Neil as a actor & it was this film that got Same Neil a role in Thor.

The tone is defiantly more off the wall then the last Thor film which is a good film & Cate Blanchett looks fantastic & defiantly some one who can take Thor on plus his reaction to the Hulk is fantastic "It's ok he's a work buddy " thankfully my work buddy's don't react like that when I see them.

+1 on that, Neill smashes it as the cantankerous 'Uncle' in Wilderpeople.

If we're backslapping Waititi, I've got to mention Eagle vs. Shark too - possibly too quirky in it's Kiwi humour for some, but made me really wistful for time I spent living in NZ.

You will see a lot of his influence for RAGNAROK in that one.

    "This is punishment..."

I'm a big fan of Thomas Jane as the Punisher, since Jane brings a nice 'American-ness' to the street-wearied Marvel anti-hero Frank Castle (aka, 'The Punisher').

I liked the 2004 film and would like to see a spin-off involving a Punisher-protege, perhaps a street-crusader named Crossing-Guard (male OR female) and portrayed by a photogenic actor/actress such as Haley Joel-Osment or Daisy Ridley!

Punisher is a great American pop-culture/pulp-fiction character, since he represents 'storytelling ambition' and one of his horrible nemeses, Jigsaw, symbolizes pure 'American terrorism.'

    ====

PUNISHER: You can't and shouldn't frighten American pedestrians.
JIGSAW: You think Americans only like peace and security?
PUNISHER: Are you catering to pedestrian sado-masochism?
    JIGSAW: Call me...a prophet!
PUNISHER: Americans like Planet Hollywood, not George Orwell.
    JIGSAW: Americans like fear.
PUNISHER: Leadership requires an attention to grace.
JIGSAW: Tell that to the Taliban (i.e., 9/11).
PUNISHER: You don't create 'revolution' by terrorizing street-traffic!
JIGSAW: We'll see how Hollywood begs to differ...
PUNISHER: There's nothing damnable about simple vigilantism-voyeurism (e.g., The People's Court).
JIGSAW: Since when were you a 'diplomat for American Airlines'?
PUNISHER: I believe in affordable education...
    JIGSAW: We'll see!

All of the major cast, and supporting actors sign multiple film contracts. However, signing them doesn't guarantee they'll return in the future, or Marvel will force them back.

Hugo Weaving's Red Skull is the biggest example of this.

    "Let there Be Romance..."

I think one reason that comic book adapted films are not reaching a cross-section of the American populace despite the obvious fact that Hollywood (USA) has been making countless comics-adapted films such as The Avengers and The Dark Knight is because people do not tend to market/advertise the romantic side of comic book storyboards.

Now, I know Marvel Comics' Gambit and Wolverine are not considered 'Don Juans' or 'John Holmeses' but they have been tied to romance-intrigue storylines (of unrequited love, betrayal, and love-triangles) involving the female superheroines Rogue, Phoenix, and Storm.

We comic book fans are not considered 'mainstream' or 'standard chic.' Indeed, we're the "martyrized kids' graffiti" domain of the art world(!), and that's not something we like to be insulted about, but gosh darn it, there are Gambit-Rogue love scenes that would arguably rival a scene from a 'Brangelina' or 'Tracy-Hepburn' 'supercouple' film/story (if not an outright John Holmes or Shakespeare film --- unless you're into graphic or explicit love-comics which I am not).

I mean, what are some truly stand-out love stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?? I wasn't too impressed with the Wolverine-Phoenix romance in X-Men: The Last Stand.

What we need is more human angles to comic character love stories/fantasies. I mean, aren't 'Valentine's Day liberties' allowed?

Here's a dialogue-synopsis for a comics-adapted film (in the tradition of Kick-Ass or Mystery Men) about an Internet-blogger named Ajay Satan meeting a real-lie soap-actress (Amelia Heinle) online and agreeing to do a Marvel Comics adapted Gambit-Rogue romance film titled Comic Date:

    ====

AJAY: Have you seen The Craigslist Killer?
AMELIA: Yeah, I also saw The Husband She Met Online.
AJAY: There are some terrific 'tech-characters' in comics --- Video-Man, Electro, Cyborg-Superman, and Tron.
AMELIA: I know about Tron. I also saw Ghost in the Machine.
AJAY: When I was a kid, I used to read those choose-your-own-adventure books.
AMELIA: Oh, I loved those! I also read Nancy Drew.
AJAY: I like your work on The Young and the Restless!
AMELIA: Yes, I'm all about soaps now.
AJAY: You might like the soapy quality of Gambit-Rogue comics love-stories.
AMELIA: My son showed me those. He's a fan. Will you send me some?
    AJAY: Sure.

AMELIA: I really liked what you sent me Ajay! Gambit and Rogue have a nice 'human chemistry.'
AJAY: Yeah, I think Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz would be perfect for a Gambit-Rogue film.
AMELIA: Yes, they were terrific in A Life Less Ordinary.
AJAY: I'd love to do a comics film 'project' someday.
AMELIA: That's what I wanted to chat with you about today. My agent is interested in recruiting an unknown for a Gambit-Rogue film (I sent him your stuff!).
AJAY: Are you saying you're recruiting me for this project? Will you be taking the part of Rogue?
AMELIA: Yes. Why? You don't think I have what it takes?
AJAY: No, I do. I just don't think I have what it takes to work with a celebrity such as yourself (I mean, I'm just a comic geek, babe!).
    AMELIA: You're sounding mediocre...

Got my tickets to GOTG2 tomorrow!
... and I just realized I'm seeing Guardians of the Galaxy on Star Wars Day. I love Marvel, but that does make me feel a little dirty. I have 8 movies I should be binging instead.
