TCW surprised us all by revealing that Maul had survived. As absurb as surviving a bisection seemed, Maul's return ended up being loved by some of the fans. What do you think? Are you totally cool with Maul surviving? Were the Maul episodes so good that you're glad he survived in spite of being bisected? Should they have focused on Savage instead?

Both. Bad because I feel like Obi-Wan's evolution from Ep I was thrown away. But good because his episodes were phenomenal.

While it's seems a bit illogical that he's alive after being cut from the waist down, he still was a phenomenal character, with the pure warrior instinct and boiling blood that Count Dooku lacked (rather working more with politics and deception). The Son of Dathomir comics with him and Dooku made me really see why these two characters were separate creations, and how strong both could be together and separated. The idea of "Clone WARS" was fully explained, as he starts his own underground war, before eventually taking all of Mandalore through a warrior's battle after his plans became askew. Also, the idea that he was not Rattataki but rather a Dathamorian Nightbrother was a bit weird for me at first ,but as it was expanded and protgressed with Savage and then Maul, I felt it was very well done to change his origins. @Paulo Henrique, what about Obi-Wan's evolution did you think was a misstep? Was it his anger, because I accounted that as seeing his compassion for Qui-Gonn and his love for Satine on the separate occasions. The Satine relationship made Obi-Wan even more interesting for me.

Maul was never a Rattataki. It's Ventress who was a Rattataki. Maul was a Zabrak from Iridonia. In Witches of the Mist, Mace Windu explains that Iridonia and Dathomir exchange males, hence the presence of Zabrak males on both planets. One change I'm glad that TCW made is that Maul's tattoos were changed from Sith tattoos to Nightbrother tattoos. I like this change because the Sith were in hiding in when Maul was Sidious's apprentice and therefore it doesn't make sense for him to get Sith tattoos.

The idea of Maul surviving and having a brother sounded idiotic when I first heard about it. But the execution ended up being great! I think Maul's storyline was one of the stronger arcs of the show.

Oh, my mistake! Thanks for clarifying. I knew about the tattoos, and I probably did get Mauls origins mixed with Ventress!

I thought it was cool they brought him back. I'm guessing that he will probably return in Rebels to bring his story to a close.

I will disagree here. By the end of Son of Dathomir, the adaptation of The Clone Wars episodes un-produced, he is left broken and alone. He honestly might have just faded away.

Yeah I need to read that. So is Sidious's plans for him interesting or lame?

There were plans for him beyond Son of Dathomir. Concept art for the never-produced 7th and 8th seasons of TCW shows this.

I wish they did not bring him back. But after watching it, it was really well done and I enjoyed the episodes. Sometimes the link between TCW and the PT are hard to fathom, but the show by itself is amazing.

I was mad at first when I saw it. Then when his brother got to the planet he was hiding I was interested. I just finished his episodes this past weekend and thought they were well done. Still don't know why they had to do it....but it was fine

I was irked by the idea when I first heard about it, as were my friends. Once I heard Filoni state that Vader essentially survived much worse I decided to reconsider and I'm glad I did. My friends were still resistant at first, but once I got them to watch the episodes they came around as well. I view it as correcting one of the gravest mistakes of TPM, killing Maul off instead of keeping him around. Now I'm curious to see what Maul's final fate will be once they get around to addressing it in the new canon material.

It was a risky move, but I thought the payoff was excellent. Although the downside now is that there's no closure for the character.

Thought it was crazy at first. But just watching the episodes at the moment and I am amazed how good they are. I think it shows a glimpse of how cool Maul could have been in the rest of the prequels and would probably have improved them. But - why is his name Maul and then he is named Darth Maul? Surely the Darth _____ is a title given by your master - was Sidious lazy and said "You will hence forth be known as Darth...erm...Darth...ooh...um...Darth...oh forget it I can't think of anything, Darth Maul will do"!?
