SPECULATION Maz' trunk = Obi-Wan's?

Saw this a while ago too. My mind was blown until i looked into it further.
Its not the same chest

 

Might be, yet the other contents of the box reveal another character: Lorra San Tekka. The beads are exactly the same. And as you know, both Tekka and Maz had been travellers. Did they travel together?

Though it might still be the same box of course.....

 

I've seen this around too. Not the same. Maz' is flat topped with metal straps and no side leather/wood-work. Obi's has a curved top, no metal straps, and side leather/wood-work. Cool idea. But no.

 

1.Chest in Obi-wan's hut from ANH where he gets the lightsaber out from to hand to Luke.


2.Chest in Maz Kanata's basement where Rey found Anakin's-Luke's lightsaber in from TFA.

I think the chest Maz has is smaller than Obi's. Its an interesting theory, but seeing the lightsaber in the chest, you could tell it wasn't that big. I could be wrong, and I hope I am. That would be a cool tie-in. - Gorth

 

It's not the same Trunk, now it's up to you to decide if this is: a) TFA paying tribute to the original movies or b) TFA creative team slacking around just repeating previous stuff.

I never even thought about it til I saw this thread... The Maz trunk would be a cool thing to store some of my Star Wars collectibles in. I wonder if anyone has thought of producing them and selling them ?

 

Total rip-off from the OT, add to the list: Death Star 3.0; young protagonist starts out on desert planet; robots have hidden electronic messages; X-wing flies down trench to blow up said Death Star; C3PO has miscolored limb; Storm Troopers wearing white; bad guys wearing black...and now LIGHT SABERS BEING KEPT IN TRUNKS!?? Where will it end?!!! I bet in Episode VIII they will show people wearing clothes and eating/drinking, just like in ESB. Total rip off. I hope there's a witty journalist on this caper already, typing up a 17 page narrative describing this newfound consistency. Mind blowing I tell ya.

Yeah Kenobi's chest has a more curbed appearance on its opening and Max's is more flattened in appearance .
