Merging X-wings & Bounty Hunters?

Wait… since when has Sabine been a bounty hunter?

Doubt it. This movie will either be right after RotJ or after TFA.

 

I think people get too attached to rumors. Just from the title it sounds like it will be about rogue squadron, and be more about space battles. I bet if they named the movie "jedi academy" some people would think it is a movie about padawans teaming up with bounty hunters to steal the death star plans before being thwarted by an ancient fear.

 

I have mixed feelings the title immediately implies Rogue Squadron. However the rumor prior to the release of the title were Bounty Hunter's steal DS plans. So it could be still the previous rumored movie simply titled Rogue 1. Certainly the rogue naming convention fits the current feel of names from the Rebels cartoon. The ship is Ghost and everyone is Spectre 1, 2 ,3 and so on.

As soon as I read the rumor Bounty Hunters steal Death Star plans I immediately pictured a heist movie like the Italian Job. Where a group of scoundrels is betrayed by a worse scoundrel and they all are fighting for the same score. Given the fun of Cad Bane, Aura Sing, Young Boba, Asajj Ventris and other TCW era bounty hunters I could totally see a great film in the works.

 

After seeing the panel, i might have to eat my words. It looks likely that it will be a rebel group plus bounty hunters.

 

There's going to be so much backstabbing in this movie after they get their hands on the plans!

I expect at least 4 dramatic turnarounds between rebels and bounty hunters until it's almost ridiculous.

 

Since Edwards was very specific about the fact that the absence of Jedi will be keenly felt by the Rebels in Rogue One, I very highly doubt that Ahsoka will be part of this film. Edwards mentioned movies like Saving Private Ryan and Blackhawk Down as some of the influences on the story, so it sound to me as though this will be a story about soldiers - everyday average people put into extraordinary circumstances.

I would even tend to doubt that there will be bounty hunters in this, but I definitely don't expect to see any Jedi.

 

The only reason I think his talk lends some credibility to bounty hunters is because he says "good guys will be bad and bad guys will be good. In real life the nature of good and evil isn't so black and white". Not a direct quote, going from memory.

 

I think the idea of bounty hunters lingers because before we learned it was a war movie involving stealing plans we heard it was a heist movie. Personally I still like the speculation before we knew it was called Rogue One better. I was imagining the Italian Job with rival teams of rebel agents and bounty hunters trying steal the plans.

 

Why would the bounty hunters be rivals, trying to steal the plan. Who would they sell them to? It would be silly if the bounty hunters are just fighting the rebels, to steal the plans first, to sell it to the rebels...

 

Why are any spies/thieves/agents rivals? Off the top of my head I was thinking that the rebs put together a team that might include a few mercs (bounty hunters). One of the Bounty Hunters or double agents or Mercs has an Imp contact that will pay perhaps a rival Mof wants to shame Vader or Tarkin by recovering the plans once stolen. So the team pulls off the job and is betrayed by someone on the team. The rest of the crew have to find them steal back the plans and still get them to the Rebs.

If the recent rumors of bounty hunters is true, I'll be one happy fan. I always thought zuckuss got the short end of the stick, appearing in none of the clone wars.
