:D Except I will still claim Luke is the father she knew. He's the father she can't recall except as a feeling. She's resisting Kylo's attempts to make her settle for a surrogate dad and give up on her quest for her own father.

I see Kylo try to do the same to Rey that Snoke probably did to him: undermine his admiration for his own father and get attached to some surrogate figure that cannot replace the original father. The stuff Kylo tells Rey about her own mind sounds like his autobiography.

mind reading is set up in terms of force user on none force user.

any teaching done between pupils is not there awareness of the possibilities afforded to them via the force.
ie, they will be aware you can manipulate a weak mind "these are not the droids"
the teachings are self development or sabre skills. there is no real transmitting of these things, via mind reading.
    They are personal and developed.

her skills like weak minding were out of necessity, she had seen what he could, as an extension of that i think she tried her look.

there is no power as such to transmit to someone. sabre fighting is a developed skill through repetition
and manipulation of the force is through study and development coupled with the practice application.

i agree ~ there's deliberate parallels between Rey's emotional state and his regarding her loneliness, her sleeplessness, and her affection for Han.

though i don't see Kylo Ren telling her to "settle for a surrogate". exactly the opposite, in fact: "Han Solo: you feel like he's the father you never had...he would have disappointed you." though i agree insofar as it's probably coming straight from Snoke that Ren is disappointed in his own father.

You mean like "Stick to your own father, don't bother going after mine?" I could see that. He's certainly bothered by the fact that Han has done something to impress her.

That's the beauty of this interrogation scene - I never know which mind they are actually discussing once they melt together. Rey sees the island. And then she sees an image of Han, which Kylo comments on. Kylo cannot manipulate that image, which seems to cover-up the visual memory of her real father. When he tries to replace that image with a different suggestion, she tells him to get out of this head. I think we only have to substitute "Luke Skywalker" for "Han Solo" in this conversation, and we get Ben Solo's story before leaving home. To me it sounds like he's pretending to talk about Han but he's really talking about Luke.

there's certainly a lot of resentment there. i still don't see Rey's actual father (Luke or not) in the picture, but i can see how you interpret it that way. i agree Ren is almost always subconsciously talking about himself when he's talking about other people ~ hahaha

I could see the explanation for her abilities being a simple as "she's naturally gifted." And yeah, some people just have more natural talent in a particular area, or pick up on it quicker, than others. Be it athletics, art, music, etc. So perhaps Rey is just naturally gifted in The Force, and picks up on things quicker (perhaps due to her having to learn survival skills while growing up alone on Jakku, she's done it before). And Kylo unintentionally jump-started those innate abilities when he messed around with her mind or something like that, we'll see? Or perhaps The Force itself is changing/evolving in how it works, hence the "awakening," and young characters like Rey and Kylo are the result of that.

Yeah I agree, maybe Kylo somehow "pulled back the veil" on her .
