    Hi all,

    First post here, woo.

    I have a question for everyone, the most recent TV spot, #11, there is that shot from inside the cockpit of an X-Wing and we see a missile hitting another X-Wing.

    It's bugging the hell out of me, I feel like I've seen a shot really similar to that in somethings else, pretty sure it wasn't Star Wars, some other movie, anyone recognize it or am I going nuts?

    Man, it looks like they are taking the air to air combat shots to a level of realism we have not really seen before in SW. I am seriously loving the dogfighting scenes they have shown us so far, and the shot you are referring to may be my favorite yet!

    Could be Top Gun but I dunno, i'm just gonna have to go and rewatch every movie that ever had aerial combat in it.

    Gotta agree with that, the action looks sick so far, gonna be a treat.

    To me It doesn't stand out as being too much like a specific shot from any one particular film.

    But in a very general way it does remind me of some of the space battles in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica. Over the course of the series there were quite a few scenes involving ship to ship missiles being launched, homing in on, and destroying various other fighters/ships. And some of those scenes were shot from a cockpit point of view.

    The dog fights look UNREAL. They're straight out of Top Gun, for sure, and that's a GOOD thing, considering Top Gun is a HELLUVA film.

    I also get a little Apocalypse Now flavor with the shot of the TIES flying thru the cascade of the Jakku sun that we've seen, as well.

    They've done a tremendous, tremendous job on this film. We should all be proud, even if we find things in it that we don't like or wouldn't have wanted in the film. Overall, I think we've got a modern classic on our hands.
