Agreed, I was enjoying the show through the first four episodes. But this last episode elevated it to a whole new level of Marvel entertainment. Wow!

    Hmm... Not a terrible finale.

Admittedly, I clearly "Mephistoed" the series, speculating all sorts of wild theories that almost certainly wouldn't come to pass... so I try not to let that color my opinion once I've seen something.

Still... I think it was a pretty middling finale. Definitely not as weak as Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and not as much of an utter letdown as Wandavision... but also, I don't think it was as satisfying as Hawkeye, or as mindblowing as Loki (though I admit I may be in the minority in really liking Loki's finale).

Instead of focusing on the bad though (because I don't think "bad" is really the right word by any means, anyway), here are some things I liked:
    - Lockley was done well. I love how Marc/Stephen black out like they did in Episode One, and Layla's horror at what happened implies that something far more horrifying even than Moon Knight occurred. Absolutely wild move to not even show the hero's big defeat of the villain on screen- and personally, I think it's all the better for it. Any Marvel movie can show you the good guy punching the bad guy- only Moon Knight makes you wonder what horrors actually occurred. And man, that post credit scene was so satisfying! Dark, but so much better than the happy ending I was expecting.

    - Also, I liked seeing Stephen and Marc working more in tandem within the same body. Progress! And Marc's return to the duat was touching, though below you'll see that I still wish it'd happened last episode.

    - Layla being a badass was certainly welcome- and I almost teared up a little at "Egyptian superhero". More of that kind of thing, please. NYC has had their share.

    - Kaiju Egyptian gods was kinda fun. I like how they could only really affect each other (thus still lending appropriate weight to the Moon Knight/Harrow fight), but still made for an exceptional set piece. And their slow movement was perfect, just really a weird highlight of the episode for me.

Now, just a few things that I didn't love...

    - Still not convinced that last episode's ending was the right move. Seems like it was just included as a way to end last week on a cliffhanger. Though I appreciated Marc's return to Stephen, I think this episode could've been better paced if Marc and Stephen had been resurrected at the end of last week.

    - Last week, we saw many souls being shunted to the underworld before judgment. Now, it may be just because of the editing, or perhaps time works slightly differently in the underworld, but it did seem like Harrow didn't even really begin harvesting souls in bulk until Moon Knight was pretty close to Giza, a good long while after being resurrected. Small continuity error, I guess- but I do feel like it was a missed opportunity to make last episode feel more connected to the series by having a better connected interplay between the underworld and the prime plane.

Overall, pretty solid series. At one point, I think it had the potential to be the best MCU show so far- I think it finished more in the middle of the pack, by the end. I hope Marvel sees this as well, and realizes that they can make weird, more thought provoking shows that don't have to end up in a more traditional finale. But hey, technically no sky beam (I'm willing to give that light at the top of the pyramid a pass ;)).

Without seeing the Moon Knight finale as of yet or reading your spoilers, Loki is still by far my favorite MCU series to date.

I haven't seen the show yet and I'm okay with some mild spoilers but do we know how this show connects with the bigger MCU as a whole? I know I've asked this earlier but that was before when the series has finished.

After the fantastic fifth episode, I prepared myself to be disappointed by the finale. Luckily, while it wasn't super amazing, I really enjoyed it. Mark/Steven working together and Layla as Taweret's avatar (actress was awesome going from Layla to goddess' bubbly personality) were great. Even kaiju fight above Kairo looked good. I wished for more time with characters, they could have given more to Etan to do.

Lockley was done well. We had him pop during the show several times, but that post-credit scene was really dark. Gods always get their own way.

So, the finale wasn't as impactful as Loki's, but as a whole I liked Moon Knight more. Everything is in re-watch value for me and I still haven't re-watched Loki. I can see myself revisiting Moon Knight soon. As I said before, give Oscar Isaac all the awards.

Ep. 6 – Gods and Monsters

    Running Egyptology commentary

A water-soaked tome is accurate. Water damage and flooding is a real trouble to these underground tombs.

Lightwell in the sealing is silly, but alright. We need light for the camera ;)

The Egyptian police dudes looks MUCH to fresh and well-equipped. Unless there has been a major upgrade of the Egyptian police in the last 10 or so years, these guys are WAY too professional and tough-looking.

Taweret possessing the police guys is the best thing :D

Ammit is awesome! I hate that she’s a villain, but by the Gods, she is siiiiiiick!

It would be cooler if she was a crocodile-hippo-lion composite creature, though, but I take what I can get ;)

Leyla’s Taweret-avatar costume’s wings make sense. While Taweret isn’t a bird, wings do represent protection in ancient Egypt, with several winged goddesses wrapping wings around folk as a gesture of protection. (Interestingly, vultures were a powerful symbol of protective motherhood because of these, as vultures have a distinct wring-wrapping gesture).

Um... Who’s Lockley? A different personality playing for the bad guys?

Conclusion: It was an ok episode of a great show. They ended it with a pretty uninspiring CGI fight, which is fair enough; endings are hard, and the MCU is a pretty fight’y franchise, so… Overall, the Ancient Egypt stuff, although reinterpreted through a comic book lens, was really good. They have studied and comprehended some Egyptology when writing this. Cool :)

He is the third alter personality. In the comics, he's a cab driver in New York, but here he's changed in a way Steven Grant was changed (in the comics, he's a millionaire like Batman, not gift shoppist XD). We "saw" him several times in the show, after blood bath usually and Oscar Isaac slipped into NY accent a couple of times in the asylum/talking to the doctor. Obviously, they made him the killer personality.

Oh, yeah... That's right! I'd totally forgotten that Marc wasn't Stephen's murderer alter ego! Cool, I didn't see that coming :)

Eh, honestly I don't think it's much of a spoiler to say that it doesn't really connect much at all. Maybe some spoilers here or there, but as of now I don't think it's necessary viewing in the way that something like Loki has seemed to make itself. Still really good, though!

Ahhhhhh, interesting! I was really wondering about that- was concerned that it was just for a cool look, but this is a much better explanation. Thanks! :)

Regarding Lockley- yeah, I noticed the Brooklyn accent in this episode, but in the end it seems Lockley is actually a Spanish speaker (or other romance language, my Spanish is a decade rusty). Obviously the two aren't mutually exclusive, but it seems like an interesting choice to make a character that's already a multiple personality be bilingual with two very distinct affects.

I thought it was Italian but I'm definitely no linguist, I can only speak 2 languages: English and bad English(Thanks John McClane). That scene gave me heavy Godfather vibes.

Good last episode. Made me really want more of this character's story. So much so that I cursed out loud when they didn't give us any indication of a second season coming, especially with that cliffhanger. I agree with the Lady as Issac's acting is award-winning. The way he smoothly transitioned from one personality to another was impressive, most impressive.

In the overall MCU universe, I honestly can't say that I saw anything that really tied in the show to all the others. I'm just guessing but I would say this is another version of Earth in the Multiverse. I don't remember seeing any references to the Blip throughout the series but I may have missed them.

    Edit:
Nevermind I found the Global Repatriation Council is shown in in Episode 2 after some small research.
