What is the most oustanding and admirable character in SW galaxy for you and why?
Imo its Leia, especially since I have seen TFA.
She always keeps fighting even after terrible losses.

TO MAKE IT A LITTLE MORE INTERRESTING YOU CAN CHOOSE THREE FAVORITS NOW!

And she shot first, even in the Sepcial editions.

My pick is Han, funny, surprising, cynic with a good heart.

Good choice. Not to forget his selfless confrontation with his son (..against better knowledge, just for Leia)

    oh tough choice!

for me it's between Han and Leia and i'm going to pick Han, but only ahead of Leia because he made the ultimate sacrifice in the end.
he's a scoundrel, but his imperfections make his genuine desire to do good all the more admirable.

I went for Obi wan because he was a great mentor to Luke, he kept to his focus on the force by following the jedi way all his life & he passed that on to Luke to carry the jedi forward, his powerful quotes were to be admired as well.

Yes and he reminds on my most beloved grandfather. Grumpy not near to "perfect" but the more charismatic...
Just a few good points more in this direction and I have to think about my poll :)

By the way, may the force always be with grandpa. Would be great if beloved could make a visit for a coffee and a piece of chocolate as a force ghost..

Very cool. I just was always sad that he was forced to fight with Anakin and had to leave him like visualized in EPIII

Thank, I know it was hard for him to fight a man who was like a brother to him & walk away bearing the guilt that he didn't not see it happen.

I think the poll could use one or more main options, such as Yoda or Qui-Gon Jinn even.

Qui-Gon Jinn was admirable particularly in that he did not practice blind faith in the Jedi Council but rather sought to be more in tune with the Living Force.

And, in the end, Yoda and Obi-Wan did become his padawans in the sense of learning how to become a Force spirit.

I deeply admire Leia and Luke.

I chose Obi-Wan in the poll above because he was the most active and influential spanning the Prequel and Original Trilogy in a good way.

To cite some of the more obvious points in Obi-Wan's arc which influenced my decision:
    • he learned much from Qui-Gon Jinn and exhibited an individuality that even earned a warning from Yoda
    • he took down General Grievous
    • he learned out about Geonosis and the Clone Army
    • he found out about Jango Fett
    • he and Anakin protected Padme
    • he taught (and later fought) Anakin
    • he neutralized the menace Darth Maul was at the time
    • he possibly enabled other Jedi to survive Order 66 by reprogramming the beacon at the Jedi Temple at Coruscant
    • he helped prolong Padme's life and rescue the twins (Leia and Luke)
    • he watched over Luke on Tatooine
    • he mentored Luke in a quick but substantial way
    • he enabled the rescue of Princess Leia
    • he sacrificed himself for Luke and other others, so they could escape, while simultaneously demonstrating to Darth Vader a greater power of the Light side of the Force (i.e. "if you strike me down...")
    • he reminded Luke at a key point in the Death Star trench run to "let go" and "feel the Force," and this enabled Luke to trust in himself, turn off his computer, and use the Force to achieve victory over the Dark Side
    • he guided Luke to Dagobah, where Luke would find Yoda
    • he appealed to Yoda on Luke's behalf
    • he warned Luke about the Dark Side before Luke left for Cloud City
    • he later confirmed the truth about Luke's father

Oh I went with Han because of how he sacrificed himself to reach out to Ben to bring his son back home through all the love and despair he had for him. *cries* Obi-Wan would be my next admirable followed by Leia and Luke. And Anakin...and so on. Oh the feels.

"You were my brother Anakin! I loved you!" - Obi-Wan to Anakin on Mustafar.

"You know...no matter how much we fought, I've always hated watching you leave." - Leia to Han

"Its why I did it...so you'd miss me." - Han to Leia.

    "I did miss you..." -Leia

    "Some things never change..." -Han

"True...you still drive me crazy." -Leia

    *Han and Leia's theme*

"If you see our son...bring him home." -Leia

    *brawls his eyes out*

It is impressive to see Obi Wans achievement listed.
I added Qui Gon and Yoda to the poll:)

I went with Luke. He did what he had to do. He made a lot of mistakes but in the end he went into the lion's den, saved his father and against all odd's, came out alive. He followed his heart and went against the wishes of his teachers. He refused to kill Vader even though Yoda, Obiwan and the Emperor wanted him to. Luke is so great! He did things his way, the way he knew he needed to. Naive? Maybe. Aadmirable? Yes!

Forgive me...I feel it again...the pull of every character's emotions...I feel torn apart...I want to be free of this pain...I know what I must do but I don't think I have the strength do it...

Tissues please? So I can cry myself like a river...oh and don't forget to toss in a (bb-8) plushy that I can hold close to my conflicted heart...I love that droid...he makes me all warm and fuzzy sometimes...not all the times. There are other alternatives...pray I don't alter them any further.

Luke was a kind of a hero that was very easy to get attached with because his openhearted way to deal with friends and family makes it nearly impossible to not like him in the OT. Therefore I am excited and a little bit nervous at the same time because I hope they really have written him a great script and special Luke moments in EPVIII and XI (I love the Jedi step finale at the end of VII..)

And OB1 was an EXCELLENT liar. :p

I would have to say Han Solo is the most admirable character to me. He starts off a scoundrel, learns what it means to be selfless and to care more for others, and becomes a hero. While he may have slipped backwards between ROTJ and TFA due to the loss of his son, he ultimately did the most selfless thing ever, sacrificing himself to try to save him. No wonder the walking carpet was always so devoted to that scruffy looking nerf herder.

    Most Admirable? Beru Whitesun.
Why? Humbly maintaining peace and order throughout her own corner of the galaxy. (Plus I guess we never see her least admirable qualities...)

In terms of consistency of his beliefs, loyalty and honor, Obi-Wan Kenobi. He was quintessential Jedi of the Republic era: negotiator as well as fighter. He believed in Jedi code and lived by it, even to his own detriment.

In the light of The Force Awakens, it's Leia. It takes a special person to keep fighting a good fight even when the galaxy is against you and in spite of personal losses and tragedies. And still keep the optimism (which Luke says is how the Force expresses in her). I believe that new Claudia Gray novel will show this even more.

In terms of the story so far, it is Luke. To be thrown blind in the fight for the galaxy and remain true to his own morals and emotions, to always remember that saving one person is as important as saving the world, to feel and reject temptations of the Dark Side is remarkable. I hope Rian Johnson does him justice.

I can't vote for all of them - which would be great - so I have to choose. It's hard, but I am going with Leia.

    Aunt Beru, hands down!

Luke Skywalker wouldn't be half the man he is if he had been raised by someone else for 19 years.

May your words be with Rian and his script:)

Taking some rumors that EPVIII will be more on the dark side I really hope you are right and they will honour Luke in some way.
I also hope the will find a satisfying way how Leia deals with Kylo in the following Episodes.
