Most Favourite And Least Favourite Characters

The stand-out character in TFA was clearly BB-8. Talk about iconic, I think that droid will go down as the most recognizable thing in the sequel trilogy.
As far as least-favorite characters, that’s a loaded question. There are characters I think were severely underused, but I still liked them (Maz Kanada, Hux, Knights of Ren, Leia, Luke, everybody working in the New Republic, etc.) But as far as characters I think are poorly constructed, I’d have to say Snoke: none of his intentions were clear. Apart from getting luke and revenge on the jedi, Snoke felt mis-placed, like a shoe-horned Emperor Palpatine.

 

I like this thread. Hmmmm, lets see here. For my favorite character, I’ have to go with Luke Skywalker. He is just so original. Even though he does whine a little, haha. Anyway, I like his fighting style as well. He also has a few awesome quotes. I like how he trains to become a jedi then helps defeat the empire. I love the OT characters .

Im not sure who I would go with as my least favorite character. To be fair, all Star Wars characters I like in some way, shape or form. Hmm, I guess at the bottom of my favorites, or least favorite, I’d go with Rey. I actually do like Rey quite a bit. She somehow reminds me of Luke from ANH. But, if I had to rank all the characters, well main characters, she would just end up being the bottom of my favorites. Hopefully this makes sence.

Wait a minute, is this only talking about TFA characters. Oh no! Favorite, Poe. Least favorite, General Hux

 

Favorite has to be Finn. It just feels like he's the most realistic character in TFA.

My least favorite is probably Phasma, just because she has no character development and is just kind of meaningless in the grand scheme of things. She is fun to cosplay thought

 

Yeah, Im not a huge fan of Phasma either. I do like her armor. That grey, matalic armor is really cool in my opinion. Also, I don’t really like General Hux. Thats just me.

 

True! The design is one of the most Icon Things from the ST!

 

Fun fact- her design was original a concept for the looks of Kylo Ren. But Kathleen Kennedy and JJ liked it so much, that they created a completely different character.

 

New characters only:
Favorite, Finn, hand's down. Probably followed up by Poe, and then Rose, and then the Praetorian Guards, the Guavian Death Gang, and the Knights of Ren. And then Rey.

Least favorite, Kylo Ren, easily. I didn't sympathize with him at all, and I found his justifications weak. He was interesting in TFA because of his stature as an Anti-Vader (tantrums instead of cold fury, destroyed machinery instead of killing humans, contentious relationship with his military counterpart instead of respect, etc), but TLJ went overboard on focusing on him, and TROS threw every decent characterization of him out into the ocean with that lightsaber of his. Overall, I find Kylo a disappointing character in concept and an unlikable character in practice, I don't care for his actor (I don't hate the dude, but I don't like how he fit the role either), and I find his fanbase to be one of the most annoying fanbases I've ever encountered.

Kylo is also the latest in a trend of "dark, moody villains" that I loathe with the passion of a thousand suns (Movie Snape and Loki follow this trend).

 

Favourite: Poe, plays the same role has Han in the OT & Obi-Wan in the PT...sarcastically mocks everything/everyone and does whatever they please

Least Favourite: Snoke/Hux, although both started off interesting enough. Hux was actually pretty intense in TFA (he was basically space Hitler) but then they just made him a joke/buffoon for cheap comic relief in TLJ & TROS...which might be the strangest character arc out of anyone in Star Wars.

Snoke had an interesting setup, but with no payoff at all. In hindsight, they should have just replaced him with a hologram of Palpatine giving out orders (like in battlefront 2) for TFA. Then have the physical Palpatine revealed and killed by Kylo in TLJ, which would lead into Palpatine being a cloning in TROS.

 

most favorite- I was going to say phasma because of that book, but poe redeemed himself in my eyes in ROS. Also maybe that cute alien who stuck coins in bb-8
least favorite- I hate kylo ren for most of the reasons use the falchion said. Vader looked cool in his suit, and he needed it to survive. Kylo Ren however, wears his mask and has his voice changer to look cool and look like vader. In the first movie he was again like use the falchion said a perfect anti vader, and that made him more interesting. Then in TLJ, he destroyed that his mask and i though oh, ok, he's going to be his own sith. But he is still completely uncontrolled and crazy.
Finally, in ROS, he takes his mask to the discount inquisitors and says, ok, im going to be vader again. And that destroys all development he had, until he turns to the light, kills the ren boys, and gets thrown into a hole. And then he randomly kisses rey and dies. I don't have a problem with the healing because legends has seen way more atrocious examples of that.

 

Snoke gets worried like the Empire Emperor about Luke. Return Palpatine doesn't break a sweat and even encourages Luke to kill him. Snoke didn't want Luke to defeat the First Order (the neo-Empire), since even he was worried of hearing of the legend of Luke Skywalker. And yes, the First Order wanted revenge on the New Republic.

 

After giving it a long thought I would have to say that Rey Palpatine is my least favourite one. Rey from Nowhere I did like.

 

It's a shame- Rey from nowhere was so much more intriguing.

 

I too didn't like the fact that Rey is Palpatine's granddaughter.

I like Poe Dameron. And BB8 but it a robot so I don't know if it can be considered a character.
I didn't like the the return of Palpatine.
Not sure about Snoke. A new villain could have been intribuing as it is seen in The Force Awakens but then it turned out that he was a creation of Palpatine.

 

I too have mixed feelings about his character. Not that I didn't like
what Rian Johnson did with him, but there was nothing mysterious about him like in TFA, this Snoke was completely different than the one we got in TLJ.

 

Least favourite: R2-D2 – Slept through the whole thing.
Most favourite: TR-8R – “Traitor!”

 

I also didn't like much the droid D-0. To me it looks like a hairdryer from the 80/90's with a wheel underneath. Far behind compared to BB-8, R2-D2, C-3PO and BB-9E. I would have preferred a better design.

 

Favorite: Finn (Only for this movie, after that we all know how his character is handled in subsequent films)
I really liked the fact that they introduced the idea of having a defective stormtrooper. Made the movie very captivating to me.

Least favorite: Snoke
Character could have been written better.

 

This entire movie was probably the worst movie I’d ever seen.

Not sure if vapid fanboys will ever read this I'm sure they'll invent some nonexistent theories to explain gaping plot holes.

1. Maybe its just me but if I were to go hide I'd leave my phone number or maybe an email. I can't imagine my friends or family not admitting me to the hospital if I explained that I was giving them piece of a map to find where I am.

2. On that map. Kylo Ren explains they have all but the last piece of the map. They're looking for BB-8 or whatever the stupid R2D2 ripoff is called who has the final piece. My question is... why ? The First Order has a gigantic base that can blow up half a solar system. Who the **** cares if Luke Skywalker is standing on some remote island watching the waves. Leave him there maybe ? By going after the piece of the map the First Order indirectly pushed BB8 directly to Rey & caused the so called awakening. If they stayed at home and made some tea none of this would've happened.

3. Speaking of the much sought after map & yet again maybe its just me but I'd like to give most other people some credit... I hope... if we're looking for Luke Skywalker & his personal droid is sitting next to the control room I'D CHECK ITS DATA BANKS. OMG we can't find Sally where'd she go she's been missing for a week. Hey isn't that Sally's laptop & phone on the table lets check that ! What're you stupid the laptop & phone are recharging.... R2D2 turns on at the end of the movie. None of the resistance was like, OMFG the stupid thing was here the entire time we just lost all of our friends for nothing.

4. Speaking of friends. Finn comes up with the plan of attack on Starkiller base. Yet again, if I were one of the resistance I'd be asking, "Who the **** is this guy and why should we listen to him?" Nobody did any background check ? Oh this guy was a stormtrooper an hour ago LETS GIVE HIM ACCESS TO OUR COMMAND HEADQUARTERS.

5. I mentioned previously the Starkiller base can blow up half a solar system. Notice how not one tear was shed. Seriously, not a single character was freaking out or upset that 4 planets of people were wiped out, not to mention whatever flora and fauna that are now extinct. General Leigh was more upset that her deadbeat husband died then 4 planets. Besides what purpose did those planets serve. Writers never bothered to go that far because hey... we got a bigger deathstar and shoots 4 PLANETS not just one we need explosions ! Develop the planets... ? Nah....

6. Oh and if you're trying to convey some atmosphere of tension at a military base have everyone running laps for no apparent reason. How come all what... 12 of the resistance are constantly performing calisthenics ? I can see the directors now... OK guys make this place look tense & important EVERYONE START RUNNING AROUND !

7. Resistance... umm yeah. They had like 12 x-wing fighters. They're best guy was captured briefly. General Leigh is a general.... because. Who the **** knows all she does is look drunk most of the time. The stupid resistance don't even know the object they're looking for is beside their command center. The guy who devises the ONLY plan of attack is a former stormtrooper. Um yeah... lol resistance my ass another fail on the part of so called writers.

8. Why is Snoke/Gollum a gigantic hologram. Seriously what purpose did that serve. Why pay to have Andy Serkis motion capture an old guy in a robe. During development I heard about Serkis' involvement and I'm expecting something pretty cool looking because ... hey its motion capture which usually means something not human. They motion capture an old man in a robe. wtf.

9. Kylo Ren can stop a lazer blast and pull memories from brains. The former emperor palpatine couldn't do that. Kylo Ren froze Rey as she tried to shoot him then knocked her out with a wave of his hand. Why didn't he do that at the end and waste time light saber fighting while already shot ? Thats like Pacific Rim where the giant robots use their guns & swords AFTER having tried fist fighting. You know maybe I'd open up with my best stuff first... ?

10. The First Orders new Starkiller base. Nobody seemed to notice this large scale construction going on. They did with Return of the Jedi.

11. On the Starkiller base... ok this room can turn off shields for the entire place. We clearly don't need all those lazer turrets, or extra stormtroopers or failsafes like requiring more then 3 keys to turn it all off all we need is one switch ok ! Cmon one person would never turn it off anyways !

12. On the Starkiller base... ok as a contractor sir I'm going to recommend not putting a massive vulnerable section with access to the surface. If I recall my uncle who worked on the last two death stars said thats how they were blown up. Imperial guy bellows, "YOU'RE FIRED GET OUT OF HERE."

13. If people have the tendency to just leave starships like the Millennium Falcon sitting around why didn't Rey just steal it awhile ago ? Naaahh I'm content to rummage around wrecked ships for scrap and get handouts why would I do that ?

14. Han Solo just happens to come across the Millennium Falcon lol. Stupid.

15. I laughed out loud when general gingerscowl think his name was Hux ? Gave that snivelling speech before shooting the Starkiller base beam weapon. That pretty much wrecked whatever intimidation factor they had.

16. So Kylo Ren apparently took out Luke Skywalkers jedi training school with his Knights of Ren who aren't developed at all. Why does he offer to teach Rey all of a sudden ? I kill students so I can teach students. Makes sense ‍♂️

 

Maz Kanata (I didn't necessarily dislike her, but I thought the design wasn't as visually inspired as it could be, and Lupita's voice was too clean...

 

Best: Kylo/Ben

Worst...Rey Palpatine, Poe Drug Smuggler (TROS), Finn Rey Groupie(TROS).

In short, the three strangers who replaced the real Rey, Finn and Poe.
