@Flyboy Your picks are awesome! I LOVE Chiwetel Ejiofor in every role he has been in and would be freaking outstanding in Star Wars.....can't wait to see what your story is about!

With my second pick as my movies writer I select... Rick Famuyiwa!

He is a calm, cool, and collected writer that has worked on StarWars already and proven himself. He has also made many indie movies that are character and narrative driven. He is a director I look to see make bounds in the next few years and I love what I have seen so far... He will write well for the story I am able to tell.

With their second round pick, Nights Watch Productions select:

    Jon Favreau (actor / producer)

Even before The Mandalorian this guy has been one of my favorite people in Hollywood. He made an impression on me as an actor first, which is mostly what I want him for, but his other contributions to film are just too great to ignore.

I know I already have a powerhouse duo heading up this production in the Coen Brothers, but I still wanted a voice familiar with the GFFA, and a working knowledge of some of the most cutting edge technology in the industry. He would probably have some input on the writing but thats just a bonus, as I have a very specific acting role in mind for him.

    Actor: Martin Sensmeier
    [IMG]

    Why?
Martin Sensmeier is relatively unknown, mostly at this point known for his role in The Magnificent 7 as "The Warrior".

So, firstly, it's a good pick because any character he plays as will be more easily seen as that character and not "that actor as that character", which is really important for fantasy (according to Lucas' original ideals back in 1976/7).

Secondly, he's kind of gotten the rotten end of the stick quite a bit playing varieties of Native Americans and it would be nice to have a role for him that's just a role that's not rooted in cultural political ideologies.

He's familiar with action and drama, and has a good smile that's ready to laugh, so Star Wars comedy should suit him well.
He would be good in concepts such as Jedi, Sith, monks, guides, scavengers, or mercenaries. Essentially, men on the edge of society in one way or the other.

His eyes are quite capable of looking deep one moment, and carefree and friendly the next.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

And in a move that surprises absolutely no one, my directors are the dynamic duo, the super siblings, the rustic Russo Brothers!

    Writer:
    Ari Aster
    [IMG]

    Why?
Ari Aster is typically a horror genre style writer/director, and mostly has done short films with two recent full length films, but both of these attributes are great for the following reasons.

Short films are a fantastic heritage background for Star Wars creators, as much of Star Wars works as sort of sonatinas quilted together into a larger sonata.

More importantly, Ari has an incredible attention to detail and complex symbolism woven into every layer of the narrative, but is able to do so without damaging the functional movement of a story as a simple narrative.
This is critical to Star Wars in general, as if metaphor and symbolism aren't well presented nor balanced, then the whole story can go right out the window for a good number of folks - regardless of the creator's intent.

As Midsommar is able to showcase, Ari is quite capable of handling multiple dimensions of metaphor and narrative relationships with an impressive ease that enhances the character's arcs and narrative values, rather than distracts from them.

Because of his horror background, and because of his personal experiences with the theatrics of films (having ran out of a theater as a child when scared from a Dick Tracey villain who started shooting a machine gun in front of a blaze of fire) he is astute in how to manage key theatrical shticks and use them without damaging a narrative plot.

An additional bonus, because of his childhood experience, and because of his genre forte, he is keenly aware of just how far you can push and go dark before you've pushed a little too far for children, while still being able to push just enough to be interesting for adults.

In other words, Ari is good for three reasons:
    1) He can make a good character-centric narrative.
    2) He's exceptionally good at overt & subtle symbolism.
    3) He has excellent control over theatrics.

    And finally...

If you've seen an Ari Aster film, you're still thinking about the last film of his that you saw as you're reading this.
If you haven't seen an Ari Aster film, you're finding out how to watch them now.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

With my 3rd pick in the draft I would like to select... (Actor)

    Nicholas Hoult!
    4CBFC9F5-60B6-4813-A09E-DBA029A9C26B.jpeg

Hoult will act as my protagonist in the movie I am writing, his character is (I won’t reveal much) very complex. I deliberated a lot and landed on him for this very specific role in my movie. He is especially complementary to some of the other actors I will be selecting later! He is most well known for his variety of roles in many movies such as Tolkien, The Banker, A Single Man, The Favourite, X-men: Days of Future Past, and even Mad Max Fury Road. I really look forward to showing you all how he plays into my story!

Great picks so far from everyone!

For my next pick, we are going "out of the box". As a matter of fact, we have blown up the "box".

Starship Studios is proud to announce, that after some serious negotiations *cough* $$$$$ *cough*, we have secured the services of a creative genius in the Star Wars 'legends' Universe. In this very Cantina there have been numerous calls to bring this man into 'canon'.

For one of our two screenwriters, we select Michael Stackpole, author of 8 Star Wars novels including X-Wing: Rogue Squadron, X-wing: Wedge's Gamble and I, Jedi. In addition he has authored 4 Star Wars short stories and 4 SW Comics. Since Michael has no screenplay writing experience we will pull in an experienced screenplay writer later on as well, to form a team.

Our project needs someone with significant background in starship warfare and especially X-Wings.

Rules question for @RoyleRancor - I hope I can assume that with Filoni pulling various legends items into "canon" (for example) I am allowed to pull a 'legends author' into a Star Wars movie?
