I think it would be good. Or they could just make the new trilogy based on that era and include that stuff in it.

Yes please, and based on the James Luceno book, at least a bit!

I'd love a Ben Solo movie; not a prequel though - if they brought back Maul they could bring back Ben!

Regarding Palps...I think his story was mostly told in the PT; regarding Tom Hiddleston as Young Palps, he looks a lot more like him than his supposed clone in TROS did...

I would be more interested in Ben Solo or the era in-between Original and Sequel Trilogies. In this day and age I am overpalpatined and I am completely OK, with Plageuis searching for eternal life and Palpatine choking him to death with pillow.

There were theories, that Palpatine could've lied about the eternal life stuff to Anakin just because, but because of canon and his rotting highness in Rise Of Skywalker, it probably worked and Palpatine didn't need him then.

I don't have to see every detail from Star Wars universe, not about straightforward and understandable things.
As this was the approach that worked well for Originals, but Prequels expanded upon that, made us spoilt in that regard a bit.
Ironically, this approach from originals killed the sequels. First Order, from where, how, why? Who is Snoke, what happened to Kylo Ren?
Somehow, there is republic that is destroyed in the moment. And Final Order, sorry, was just cheesy.

While I enjoyed as a kid and still have the visual dictionaries, it was extra stuff, that was fun! But not needed for watching the movies.
Yeah, it expanded them for sure, but wasn't mandatory.
Having a trilogy that relies on you having to know the expanded universe and having to read comic books, dictionaries, novel.
That is wrong in my opinion... I will never get over the line ''Somehow, Palpatine has returned'', that was tongue in cheek summary of the sequel trilogy, because somehow, all of it happened. Somehow, the terrorist First Order has more advanced tech, soldiers and ships than Empire and made a Death Star 3.0 out of a planet.

Plagueis for me was explained enough and I can piece those things together... Syfo Dias and Clone Army are probably one of those weird things in Episode II.
But overall, you can relate to stuff based on real life lore, like Evil Galactic Empire, that has Emperor who is basically an antithesis to the good Jedi that he made extinct with his servant Darth Vader. Sure, that is some fantasy stuff.
But Nazis on the moon First Order, who are but actually aren't Empire, that was mind boggling.

As far as Palpatine, Snoke, Kylo, First Order... Yeah there is a LOT to explain there, and probably the "Lucas-esque" explanation would be that it gives them a story to build between the Battle of Endor and when we meet Rey. I found the Palpatine and fleet on Exegol to be very reminiscent of LOTR and Sauron building his army- only not quite as believable:confused:.
I'm as interested about how the New Republic couldn't keep their heads out of their asses for any amount of time and found themselves back to hiding in caves and running from a whiny emo kid with (grand)daddy issues.

'Whiny emo kid'.....so many see him as that, but what he actually was...is this
    https://www.quora.com/Was-Kylo-Ren-abused(Sigrun Ahlquist).
For those who disagree ...Andy Serkis, who as we know played Snoke, referred to his character as a 'predator'.

I'm sure that I'm drastically in the minority but I'm very Palped out.

It could be good. I'll go. I'd be lying if I didn't say I have less than zero interest, I actively do no not want it it to happen and certainly no time soon.

    Let the hammy ham lie.

For me the biggest 'fail' of the ST was bringing Palpatine back.

I honestly thought that the final film in the ST would focus purely on the conflict between two major factions...the FO, led by Kylo Ren, and the Resistance led by Poe, and rather than 'ultimate good v ultimate evil'.....which had already been done in the previous trilogies.....they would be more 'shades of grey' type organisations. Rian Johnson showed Kylo's humanity in TLJ, but also Poe's unexpectedly 'darker' side, his lack of concern for his comrades dying purely so he could cover himself in glory by destroying a dreadnought. DJ's revelation that the Resistance acquired their weapons and ships from the same unscrupulous dealers as the FO was an interesting plot twist, Leia's allies abandoning her at the end, paved the way possibly for a different Resistance, one forced to obtain allies from less scrupulous backgrounds, especially as they had been severely depleted.

The film ended with Kylo gaining a hollow victory - he was Supreme Leader but had lost Rey, and Hux was just waiting for an opportunity to oust him - and seemed to point towards Finn taking down the FO from the inside as a stormtrooper rebellion. I also noticed how Holdo, by nature a pacifist, described the Resistance as 'the spark of hope' yet the more aggressive Poe described them as 'the spark that would burn the FO to the ground'.
ADF's novelisation of TFA began with a poem which mentioned the 'difference only being made right by the resolving of grey'....was that referring to an end to the Dark/Light conflict by the rise of the Grey Jedi? I wasn't the only person who thought that, a lot of viewers felt the same way. Fact is, the final film in the Skywalker Saga could have done something completely new and brought the saga to a true conclusion and a new era that finally put to an end the 'dark versus light' 'forever war.'

Palpatine had had his time. Bringing him back did nothing but make Anakin's sacrifice completely pointless. DLF threw away an opportunity to make a fresh new start for the SWU and instead produced a film that was just a tedious copy of a load of far better films, from ROTJ to Avengers Endgame to Raiders of the Lost Ark, completely retconning everything they'd done and character assassinating all of the cast...and they had the nerve to blame it all on Carrie Fisher's untimely death. Heath Ledger passed while making his final film, Tyrone Power during the making of Solomon and Sheba and Oliver Reed during the making of Gladiator yet they still managed to save the films.
TROS seemed as if somewhere along the way DLF got bored and decided to rush the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga so they could concentrate on new material.

With Episode IX being heavily influenced by Dark Empire in a sense, I don't have problem with Palpatine being back in the basic sense.
My problem is with how they brought him back. Episodes 7 and 8 for me are solid outings and Episode 8 hyped me up for the finale in a huge way.
I have left cinema thinking, hell, this was a heavy stuff that I would except actually in the final episode, so everything is possible now, what will Kylo and Resistance do next? Resistance was left in shambles and actually, if we were to trust that First Order are Imperial Remnant and terrorists, they got hit pretty hard as well. Until it was revealed through Battlefront II story mode, that actually no, they were rebuilding in Unknown Regions secretly to be quite a force to be reckoned with and able to take over the galaxy back with ease. This is the canon here.

And here comes Episode IX being a mess. The revelations do not flow there naturally and are super imposed.
No explanation beside a cryptic line on how Palpatine came back from being basically desintegrated in a shaft, which is more unbelievable than then somehow, retrieving Luke's lightsaber from Cloud City (they could have said that objects are affected by the respective force users, making them powerful artifacts, unless destroyed - it wouldn't killed the scriptwriters).
And if I toss out all the non existent foreshadowing from the window - because the another bull is the revelation of Final Order and First Order being the beginning. For what reason? He could have said that he was testing the waters with FO to finalize retrofitting fleet of Star Destroyers with planet killing guns in secret and then go forward. The Sith Troopers designs would make sense then, instead of being leftover production designs made for Kylo Ren's Sith poser approach. It's storytelling and writing gone wrong. Not to mention the unrealistic 16 hour window making their adventure itinerary on such tight deadlines, that makes us believe that hyperspace travel across the galaxy takes minutes!

I was excited on the Palpatine mike drop on Celebration and believe, that Palpatine himself is not the problem, but the writing is.
We have a space fantasy with sci-fi elements, where you explain stuff like small ventilation shaft and the strategy around it, plus the status of operation of planet killing weapons and some midichlorians, but then you venture into a full dumb mode.
I created Snoke, the dark side is pathway to many abilities, the first order was just a beginning (but nobody in the first order had idea) and with a hand gesture, I can make star destroyers appear from the ground... Only to get the magic thwarted by simple navigational tower, that the heroes must destroy in the end. Like yeah, we have encyclopedias, lexicons, novels, games and everything is canon - but they should expand on the main media, not the other way.
The whole movie is insane and not really understandable, with the revelations being last minute and cheesy.

In the same regard, I can imagine Kylo versus Rey only being the safe bet for a final movie, but they will still need some bigger agenda glooming over them.
Which is another point, that I can see Kylo's redemption actually work, if he was revealed to be mindcontrolled in a sense (which he is), but not at the beginning of the movie, but in the third act, where you can drop the Palpatine and other revelations.
It could have been so much more. Here they drop it criptically in the intro opening crawl and first few minutes of cryptic info and rest of the movie is just a visual adventure, playing with the same old recycled tropes.

It makes me think on some of the fans wishes being spoilt by Prequels and some being rather unsavory, but who can blame people on wanting to explore extra stuff, as it is not handled well by a broken storytelling.

I think that a lot of problems with the entire ST stemmed from much of what was going on was left out of the films, and had to be found in supplementary material - for example, when a lot of people criticised how 'easily' Rey beat Kylo at the end of TFA, Pablo Hidalgo then said on social media that she had 'downloaded' his fighting skills when their minds had met during the fight - how were movie goers to know that, Elijah Wood made a joke of it, also on sm!

Leaving some things to supplementary materials is fine for bookaholics like myself but people like to know what's going on without having to pay extra for it. The Rise of Kylo Ren comic showed far more of Ben/Kylo's story than the films did, but non Kylo fans aren't going to buy a comic to discover the truth about him....especially as it wasn't published until after TROS was released.

I have to learn how to tackle topics with less novel like approach.
But yes, that is a huge problem with the sequel movies as movie should always work as a self contained medium in itself regarding vital plot points, period.

Actually I don't buy that explanation, and I think he came up with it replying to these critics.
In my eyes the movie itself made clear, that Rey is not an unexperienced fighter, by showing her fight multiple opponents with her staff. And Kylo is injured.
When it comes to her usage of the mind trick, in my head I always see the first meeting with BB-8 as Rey unconsciously showing that power already talking to (yelling at) Teedo.

Kylo had just murdered his father in cold blood. His mind and spirit were broken.

He had just taken a crossbow bolt from Uncle Chewie that not only finished lesser men but tended to send them flying, full mass. His body was broken.

    Rey could scrap.

Rey was able to connect to the force.

Obvious and all the on screen, penty good for me. No explanations the audience would have no direct way to know required.

Yes Please or a couple seasons on Disney +

They can use it to explain how Sith use their death and defeat to move into their killer (Usually a more Powerful Apprentice) They use the darkness that emerges from the assailant as they kill the Sith Master since Bane.

will explain why all the Sith now exist in Rey and why she is compelled to become impress and The Master Sith Lord Darth Despirate. =).

Good one! Very ironic if they brought back Ben Solo as the 'good guy' who ended up having to fight 'bad girl' Rey...but I doubt very much if that'll ever happen.
