The big thing is that "sources dismissed Rambo C3PO." Even though we have leaked merch/poster of 'Rambo 3PO'.

His sources dismisses that C3PO goes "Rambo", as opposed to having a (probably funny) moment where Chewie's stuff is piled on him. Probably a "hold my beer" kind of moment, yes?

I'm guessing that's what that means. I think it would be kinda cool that the memory wipe makes him a badass droid. Like EP2 was almost like a 'teaser' or foreshadowing, so to speak.

Jason's sources, according to him, dismissed the idea that Threepio being adorned with other characters' weaponry is a "big moment" in the film; they weren't dismissing it happening at all, though, so my read on this is that, just as Rian Johnson and others did ahead of The Last Jedi's release, Jason is putting it out there that people shouldn't be expecting that moment to be some big "gotcha" thing that has relevance to the story.

I took that to be a reference to the idea that Ford did not really wanting to do a third film, and felt it would be better if Solo remained frozen as a martyr to the Rebel cause. I think Kasdan and Marquand were also keen one of the heroes should be killed off in ROTJ to up the stakes from the outset.
So I guess (and I might be wrong) he is implying Poe is simply "tagging along" so that all of our sequel heroes are back together for one last adventure, even though all of his development as a character already happened in the previous movie and is not necessarily needed in that sense.

Not sure I agree with the comparison myself though, because the Han/Leia thing was wrapped up in Jedi at least.

    • Wayfinder takes Kylo to Palpy, gets to palpy within the first 20 mins of the movie.
    • When Kylo finds palpy, kylo is 'apprehensive'. Asks palply 'what are you', to which palpy says "not a clone, not yet a man". He's wants to pass the legacy to his granddaughter and Kylo as empress and emperor.
    • Palpy is tricking kylo. Palpy needs Rey and Kylo as the "dyad" to siphon the force through them to rejuvenate himself to "episode 3 youth".
    • When Palpy siphons the force, he gets a new wardrobe as well
    • Rejuvenated palpy force lightnings the sky and takes out some of the resistance fleet.
    • Jason doesn't believe Matt Smith is Rey's dad. Jason still thinks Smith is in the movie, but concedes it could've been cut, but it would be really odd for him to be cut based off marketing evidence and things he's heard.

I hope the rumor that Palpatine wants Kylo and Rey to rule as he is "too old" or whatever is totally false. God that sounds stupid. Like really bad fan fiction. If he is only trying to trick them and lure them into position so he can somehow use them then that sounds better.

I was pretty happy when I heard JJ was coming back, but I gotta admit, if these rumors are true I'm kind of worried about this film. I hope I'm wrong, and it turns out well but sheesh.

If MSW is right, He's tricking them. He's using Kylo to find Rey because when they are together a Dyad is formed in the force. From that Palpy can siphon the force and rejuvenate.

So, Palpy is a Sith Vampire? I hope the execution is just as good as ROTJ. We got At-MTs (At-ATs) in TLJ and now we're getting a new take on ROTJ's throne room scene. The entire sequel trilogy is a ripoff of the OT. When George said these films rhyme I don't think he meant like this. There are so many villains from Legends that they could've cherry picked from, yet JJ decides to bring Palpy back, is lazy writing. As a Star Wars fan I hope I'm wrong, and enjoy this film but it really seems like lazy writing/storytelling.

Youtubers are gonna have a field day on this film... I hope the Disney+ shows can save us from the negativity that were about to face... OY VEY.

They are going to have a field day regardless and already are with each speculative nugget that comes out. Lucasfilm has given up on pleasing everyone and is just going on trying to please the general audience and give the UPFs some great easter eggs. Wrapping up the Skywalker arc as a whole in this final film involves a lot of factors that we still have no clue about. I'm sure JJ and Chris took many months to hash this all out to make sure that the story is wrapped up in the most meaningful way. Regardless of what happens, Disney+ and Star Wars have quite the bright future ahead with live action and animation. Who knows. We may see brand new Star Wars movies on the platform in a few years.

Just been trying to get my head around a few things - I thought I'd stick this in here as this is the closest thing we've got to a "spoiler" thread dealing with general narrative details...

Pasaana = Desert planet, filmed on location in Jordan. The Vanity Fair article said this: "Pasaana is populated by a new alien race known as the Aki-Aki and a breed of horse-like creatures called orbaks."

Kijimi = Described in Vanity Fair as a “snow-dusted” planet - home to a shadowy Thieves’ Quarter, which we know is where we will meet Keri Russell's character, Zorii Bliss.

Kef Bir = Homeworld of Naomi Ackie's character, Jannah, as recently revealed in the leaked pages from the Ultimate Star Wars book. Jannah is also described as "leading a tribe of brave and noble warriors on an ocean moon".

Here are some things to consider in light of this:

    1) The Aki-Aki tribesmen are pictured on location in Jordan the Vanity Fair article, it is clear this ties in with what we know about Pasaana. Finn and Jannah riding the orbaks, however, seems to take place in a totally different environment - predominantly grassy plains. The location leaks featuring Naomi Ackie, Boyega and Isaac from last August showed more of the grassy setting.
    star-wars-feature-vf-2019-summer-embed-04.jpg star-wars-feature-vf-2019-summer-embed-06.jpg #IX_09.jpg
    #1535123274-iso-excallround-starwars-filming136.JPG #Naomi-Ackie-Jannah.jpg #Star-Wars-9-set-photos-show-Naomi-Ackie-s-new-character-1480681.jpg
In fact, the setting seems to have more in common with the location from the teaser trailer where Rey and co view the Death Star remains. We also see Rey and Kylo fighting in this location in the second trailer.
    #FLXWUUU.jpg #EP9-FF-000002.jpg #skywalker-1024x696.jpg
So, either Vanity Fair somehow got it wrong and orbaks are not native to Pasaana. Or Pasaana has several different environments. Or orbaks feature on several worlds, but are only indigenous to Pasaana.

    2) Whichever option seems more likely to you, let's just presume the plains/ocean world is the same location we see both Jannah and our heroes riding orbaks, and the Death Star reveal shot from the teaser.
Some people have debated how likely/unlikely this environment could be where the Death Star remains settled. Some people have even speculated which Death Star it is we are even looking at. In a nutshell: "This doesn't look like the Endor we saw in Return of the Jedi."

It's worth mentioning, although I'm sure most people are aware, the second Death Star was orbiting Endor's forest moon, not the planet Endor.
Here is the forest moon, realised as matte paintings in ROTJ:
    #DcL87z6V0AAi0Js.jpg #endor-ds2.jpg
It is unclear whether the planet Endor ever appeared onscreen in ROTJ. In the opening scene, a red planetoid is visible behind the Imperial vessels as they approach the Death Star, but - to my knowledge at least - it has never been revealed if this is intended to represent the planet or simply another moon orbiting Endor:
    #ROTJ opening.png
And, FWIW, the Ewok movie Caravan of Courage depicted Endor, as viewed from the forest moon, like this:
    #Endor_matte.jpg

So, again, it's kind of up for debate. The forest moon does have oceans, as revealed by the matte paintings. And there is no reason it could not have grassy plains on the outskirts of its forests too, so the Ewok's home could easily be where the Death Star remains settle. But it could also be a new planet (or moon).
The canon that became "Legends" had Endor as a gas giant with nine moons. That may or may not still be the case.

    So...
    3) Finally, the way Jannah's biog in the Ultimate Star Wars book is worded leaves (slight) scope for interpretation. Kef Bir is her homeworld. And she leads a tribe of warriors on an ocean moon. Those two things may not necessarily be the same thing. IE: she could be born in one place, yet lead a tribe someplace else. So, is Kef Bir the name of the ocean moon or not?

Personally, I think this is most likely: Vanity Fair erroneously attributed orbaks to Pasaana, they are really native to the grassy plains/ocean planet seen both in the Jannah shots and the teaser trailer. This is actually Kef Bir, Jannah's homeworld, an ocean moon orbiting the planet Endor, and part of the Death Star remains settled here after its destruction in ROTJ.

But I may, of course, be wrong... :)

I think Vanity Fair got the orbecks wrong. As far as Jannah, I think she is originally from Kef Bir but that is not the planet with the Death Star wreckage.

I said this when it was first revealed. Chewie and Rey have to jump into deep water... clearly you wouldn't do that with heavy weapons and an ammo bandolier. The explanation is simple. "Here, hold this." "Oh my... I've been reduced to a glorified servant droid. How humiliating."

It's not due to "reshoots" you're just getting bad information or your just being a fraud and believing it the bad information. Most reshoots are for continuity errors not to change scenes around to avoid leaks. That's a crap ton of money to waste during reshoots.

They may not be changing scenes during reshoots but conflicting information could be from multiple versions of scenes (including some that are intentionally fake) shot during production. I know that the Russo Bros. shot multiple endings to the Avengers films as a way to try to throw off leakers.

I would do the same thing, Hell you could bring in Ian McDiarmid to film for holocron stuff or flashback stuff and if you didn't know you'd assume Palpatine is definitely alive, or you film many alternate deaths etc.
