All right, I've got some time to kill. Here's my take on it:

I kinda like Pablo's take on it- it's a detail that different witnesses have different opinions on. Ultimately, it doesn't matter- both were capable of shooting first. Han was the only of the two to walk away from the encounter, so regardless he was the better shot.

I don't know, but I don't have enough in my life.

I don't think we have enough info on this, really. I think the reason the Sith seem so evil is:
    1) We've only seen them from the point of view of the Jedi, so obviously they're diametrically opposed to what the Jedi stand for
    and
    2) We've really only seen the Sith under Palpatine. Maybe he was just a particularly bad apple. It'd be like saying Hogwarts was a bad place just because you only saw it when Umbridge was in charge.

I think it all worked out. Classic trolley problem, with a twist. Once it was clear that betraying the Rebels would in fact not go on to further the greater good, he went out to right his wrongs.

I think Dooku is crazy demonized. The Republic clearly had issues, and he led a separatist movement to merely secede from them. Really, let me follow this up with another question- if Lucas hadn't made him a Sith or Greivous a Jedi Killer, would they have even come across as villains? Seems almost like those traits were necessary for the audience to root against them- kind lazy, honestly.

I mean, in hindsight, I guess he was a fool- Vader could've died on Tatooine without ever coming in contact with the Sith, maybe. But he couldn't have possibly known that, and he thought he was doing right.

    Here's the thing-

The First Order: They should probably be left alone, as long as they're not being aggressive or working on WMDs (which, apparently they are, but we just kind of found that out in TFA).

Republic: They need to keep tabs on the Resistance. They need to monitor them. They probably even should have some sort of occupation of them, as the Empire certainly committed war crimes. But they're not really doing anything. Republic severely dropped the ball here, in favor of a shaky peace that didn't last. Shame on them.

Resistance: I get what Leia's doing here. The Republic was being horribly short sighted in regards to the FO. But I can't help but wonder if the risks posed by a rogue Resistance are worth the possibility of being discovered and causing an even more dire war. But, by the end of TFA, that's not really a valid concern, anyway.

So, in the end, I get it both the Resistance and the FO. The FO feels slighted by the fall of the Empire, while the Resistance feels worried about the rise of a new Empire. The real fault lies with the idiots in the New Republic. They probably could have prevented all of this.

I'd say yes. They were military personnel (even if non-combatant) living on a WMD. It'd be like if a plane carrying nuclear weaponry was shot down- you'd be totally justified in killing the pilot. In this case, there's a significant amount more people aboard, but that's really the only difference.

Maybe! If the theory that SKB is actually Ilum is true, then totally (assuming the fauna wasn't wiped out by FO industry).

You know, in almost situation (character, lines, looks, etc) Leia beats Padme easily. But in this case, and I know in the minority, but I'd take Padme's arena outfit over the slave bikini any day.

I think we're talking about two different dark sides here, if you know what I mean.

I mean, that's hardly the worst thing Ren did in the movie...

Plus, they were both into it, I think.

Like Vader's suit? Or just Anakin in a suit? Because regardless, the answer is a resounding NO.
Jar Jar is clearly the better role model. He lives under water. He has long ears. He is clumsy.

Actually, a pretty decent question. Normally I'd say no, but Star Wars makes droids seem pretty clearly sentient.
I'd say they're on a different (if not lower) level of consciousness than us- lower than animals, probably. So, is it wrong to kill a horse? Yeah, but not as bad as killing a person. So, killing a droid is not as bad as killing a horse. Now I'm starting to sound like a psychopath...

I think they're just cold. Not evil, but certainly not sympathetic. They did what they were good at, and whether or not they enjoyed it (I think they did, at least a little) they did their best to remain professional.

TFA is all about calls to action. Poe is a hero from the beginning, as he's already on a mission for the Resistance. Finn becomes a hero when he decides to leave the FO, and again when deciding to save Rey. Rey becomes a hero when she decides to help BB8, and again when she embraces her Force legacy against Ren.

I mean, he played a major part, but I seriously doubt Palpatine wouldn't have found some other way to rise to power if Jar Jar had backed out.

Why would that be an oxymoron?

It's implied that both have done some terrible things (but Ren seems to have spent less time on the Dark side than Vader, if that counts. Also, Ren may not only redeem himself, but it's possible he could live a good life after being redeemed. That, I think, makes him potentially more redeemable.

    Only time will tell.

Also, on the Meyers-Briggs thing, I'm INTP- Yoda. So I should probably go back and retype all this in Yoda-speak.

hahaha ~ i am amused that you say this.
you have no idea. ; D
that's all tape and spackle, though.
the story doesn't even need to address the aftermath: that's for him to work out on his own (or with the galactic authorities or whatever) over time.
the important thing is that in the immediate moment, he recognizes his bad choices and begins to make good ones.

Interesting post. I looked at the personality test but without any context to the questions I felt all that was being tested was my memory and my projected self-perception!

I'll start mulling over your questions though - some may be just as vague but a lot more fun and less likely to end with a diagnosis of an infamous SW personality.
The man's a known quick draw...so quick it felt like years had passed before I even saw Greedo get a shot off! :p
    How I see it...
As pejorative: a label for someone who's behavior is seen as deviant or offensive?
As term of endearment: a label for someone who does what they think is right regardless or law or custom?
I'm partial to the lovable rogue and independent thinker.

    the scoundrel.png
Hmmm, I don't know who's “right” but think they're all dangerous:
    • The Sith because I find the use of force against others (outside of self/community defence) generally unjustifiable and unacceptable.
    • The Jedi because power corrupts and I'm wary about strangers who:
      • wield great power,
      • adhere to hierarchies that claim authority over others,
      • always approach with a lethal weapon at their side.

Im kinda into nicknames....Darth Tickles :D

    Welcome!!!

Han shot first. That is what makes him a scoundrel :D.

Me neither, sadly. But, hey ho. Sometimes i am one :D so all is not lost :p

That is very smart pov. I like it!

Tell that to Kanji Klub Han! :p

    I agree with this wholeheartedly:)

Qui-Gon was one of the best Jedi, imo.

    Yups!

    A huge one....huuuuuuge.

Hahaha....lolz. if there is plants there is animals and that means it is an ecosystem. Animal lives matter...and how bout interplanetary ramifications of removing a source of gravity as huge as skb is? What if it causes a miniature shift in trajectory of some stars or planets that in billions of years from now would mean a difference between a catastrophe like, lets say an asteroid miss or collision for a world populated with sentient beeings???? (I can go like this ad infinitum :p)

I say....acquire both. For bedroom cosplaying purposes. I prefer this padme eddition tho:

I knoooow. But there's just nothing else darksidey on Luke. The man is a saint!

I personally have most troubles with his killing of lor san tekka

I'd say!!! And then some :p

I meant specifically ani from killing dooku moment till putting on a suit. And i forgot whst exactly i meant by this question. I think in part i just like the phrasing 'presuit vader' and i wished to use it :) whaaa? Cant be serious all the time :p

    Doesnt give up? :p

Hey hey hey....ALL my questions are pretty decent :p
How bout killing Data? Or he is different cuz he is an AI?

Mweh. I still like their toys better than them. Specially in AotC.

Hmmmm. Too many heroes? Time will tell on this one I think :)

Agreed. But also I think those who left a dimwit alone with such position of power bear more responsibility for it.

Cuz he thaught his aprentice all he knew what nade him expendable?

I think so too. His hair and his puppy eyes for some reason play an important factor in his redeemability for many a reyloer. (Not me...i swear. I actually think thats just gets in the way. And in this im most honest. I hate puppy eyes in men and i like to take the high road)

    Omfg!!! You know Larry???

    Dew it!!! ;)

Oh do tell! And its decided. Thou shall be he known henceforth as FNiavelli! FNchiavelli?

Yoy speak in riddles. Must be a yoda then!!

Fun is fun is fun is.....you cant be a jedi! :p

Hahaha. I still dont see Greedo shoot first. I just blatantly refuse.

    I like it :)

    Good reasoning! :)

Interresting thread... don't know where to but me as a "Mediator type".
A mixture of the older deillusionized Luke and Obi-Wan, I think.
A crazy idealistic hermit, trying to accept himself and others with all failures and weaknesses with the right amount of humor :)

"Objective, independent, thorough, and adaptable with well-developed powers of concentration."
    Okay.
"Natural leaders who strive for perfection."
    Sure.
"Talented in bringing ideas from conception to reality."
    Most of the time.
"Expect perfection from themselves as well as others."
From myself, absolutely. From others? Nope, the standards I hold for myself are much higher than those I hold for others.
"Characterized by their desire to produce mastery and achievement that reflects their brilliance."
I am driven to ensure that my work is always done properly and efficiently, though without any cheap shortcuts that could cause the end product to fail eventually.

I still don't really see why Palpatine is the INTJ on the chart. Not to say I would't be summarily kicked off these boards if I actually said what I felt about certain aspects of the Star Wars franchise. ;) But I actually have some small measure of self control. Having a fixation on "unlimited power" and being creepy and manipulative really isn't my modus operandi. Well, except for maybe the creepy part...from time to time...but that's not intentional. :D

The parts that most describe me are:

"INFJs indeed share a unique combination of traits: though soft-spoken, they have very strong opinions and will fight tirelessly for an idea they believe in. They are decisive and strong-willed, but will rarely use that energy for personal gain – INFJs will act with creativity, imagination, conviction and sensitivity not to create advantage, but to create balance."

"INFJs find it easy to make connections with others, and have a talent for warm, sensitive language, speaking in human terms, rather than with pure logic and fact. It makes sense that their friends and colleagues will come to think of them as quiet Extraverted types, but they would all do well to remember that INFJs need time alone to decompress and recharge, and to not become too alarmed when they suddenly withdraw. INFJs take great care of other’s feelings, and they expect the favor to be returned – sometimes that means giving them the space they need for a few days."

Most Virgo's would not understand Cancer's that deeply, so I guess I'm lucky I do, but less emotional pain would be nice.
