Unfortunately, it looks like that expanded score from The Rise of Skywalker is unofficial, according to Discogs (which is usually pretty reliable): https://www.discogs.com/John-Willia...riginal-Motion-Picture-Score/release/15553912. However, it might still be worth the buy if there’s some tracks on there that aren’t included on the standard soundtrack. I know A LOT of the music from the film was cut from the soundtrack, unfortunately, so it still might be worth the buy!

I think that John Williams brings the best SW experience to all of the trilogies. He brings that wonderful Star Wars music to the films. Even of you aren’t a fan of some of the films, John still brings amazing music which just screams Star Wars. He did a very good job in all the trilogies. My favorite ST music song is Rey’s Theme. I like it. It just resembles Rey without any words. Amazing!

Rey's theme is probably the pick of the crop. It does sound like an upbeat of the emperor's theme, makes you wonder if he knew all the time lol. It's not a surprise really because I think he put is heart into Rey. He really loves Daisy. Anyone see that video when he gives her his music sheets and Daisy is nearly lost for words.

I really don't like Rose's theme because it's the first time I have said this about John Williams score. It's irritating. Shame that the Dual of Fates was cut. It really would have lifted RoS.

But John Williams is the master. What else can you say about him. Also loved his little cameo in the film. He deserved that.

Agreed. John Williams is truely amazing. His music has more emotion and power than any song that has lyrics. When you think of Star Wars, that music comes to mind. Weather its The Imperial March or the Force Theme, John Williams makes Star Wars, well, Star Wars.

I found this interesting. John Williams really was heavily inspired by some composers.

IMO, no movie score gives the audience more shivers then Williams "Imperial March".

I think TFA was easily Williams' best work since ROTJ (minus Duel of the Fates)

Rey's theme and the Resistance Suite really brought Star Wars into modern cinema again.

A tad on topic... while reading last night I instructed Alexa to play "Star Wars music".
It played a chap's piano version of the SW soundtrack.
A bit different but wasnt bad at all.

I agree, The TFA score was a real heavy hitter. I think the opening sequence of TLJ with the bombers really cemented for me how good the resistance theme from TFA was. It's so iconic and heroic, and just fits naturally into the existing musical canon that spans the entire saga.

Just as a follow up this was a bust. I never received it. And I never received any responses to my e-mails. I had to file a claim with Visa to get my money back.

Spent the better part of this afternoon listening to music from the ST and I just can't agree when people say it isn't up to par with the other two trilogies. It's never gonna match the OT on an iconic level, and maybe not even the PT but it's so consistently great.

Yep, with you. I love ALL SW music.....and even though I am very passionate about JW, love it that they brought in Giacchino, Powell and now Goransson too. They all bring their own passion, flair and perception of SW through music....

I agree, all of those composers have brought great additions. It took a while for me to fully appreciate Goranssons style in the Mandalorian, but now I think it's unbelievably good. Every time the Mando theme kicks in, I get chills. Solo and Rogue One have some of my favorite movie music from recent years as well. No one can be John Williams, but they all bring in their own touch. I was a fan of both Powell and Giachino from before, but they both surprised me with how "right" the music felt for the respective movies.

I would also like to add that the ressistance theme can be heard near the end of one of the latest Mando episodes! I will not say where in respect of spoilers, but listen carefully at the end of season 2, episode 12 around the 32-minute mark. So great to see some of the ST music lives on.

I have a lot of problems with the ST, but Williams' score is definitely not one of them, though I do think it's weaker than his work on the OT & PT for the most part.

One of the most brilliant strokes of genius the already-known genius John Williams made when he started working on the Sequels was making sure to make themes that integrated with one another. The music, more than anything else in the sequels, might be the most cohesively told storytelling element throughout the entire trilogy. It's really brilliant attention to detail.

I’m not really a fan of the ST, but since the music is one of the few aspects where they brought back the original content creator, I would have hoped that I would still enjoy the soundtrack. Except, honestly... I kinda didn’t.

John Williams is possibly still the greatest composer of all time, and I love the music from the OT and PT. But somehow even the music in the ST just didn’t excite me like the earlier movies did.

Still, the importance of John Williams’ score to all nine films is tremendous. If you could watch some of the major scenes without the music, it would be a really jarring absence.

While it doesn't have Battle of the Heroes, Duel of the fates or Imperial March, my favorite sequence of music is TLJ ending. From The Battle of Crait, The Spark, The Last Jedi, to Peace and Purpose.
