Now that my Japanese classes began, I would like to introduce everyone to an amazing singer - Ayumi Hamasaki. Her music made my youth a lot brighter and now helped me to overcome my dread of the hardest writing system in the world.

    @Jack_Forest Ganbatte!

A weekend phase after watching Shin Godzilla, but still beautiful.

It'll be my go-to soundtrack for Sanderson's new book Skyward, so I've been listening to this pretty much nonstop for a while now.

I've just been really, REALLY feeling this song for the past few weeks.

I love this developing genre from Mongolia!
ESPECIALLY Zorigoo's music (Zorigoo is the one doing all the singing and throat singing in the song)!!

It's a little hard to keep track of in the U.S., but Facebook makes it a little easier (Zorigoo's FB: https://m.facebook.com/zorigoo.battsooj
...though FB only helps a little bit because unless you can read Romanized Mongolian...which is these days a Slavic fusion - which I cannot, then there's a language barrier that FB is helpless with in most cases).
I would kill to be able to find Zorigoo albums somewhere!

    Cheers,
    Jayson

    That's pretty cool!
My girls got hooked on Utada Hikaru after they played Kingdom Hearts. :)

If you like that one, check out my personal favorite from the period where he dabbled in EDM/Mongolian folk mashup.

Literally won't here anything like it anywhere!

I hope so, because that would be one awesome midlife crisis! lol

My favorite part is 3:35 because that's just his voice! No effects.
He's just damn good at throat singing!
I mean...seriously. He's all over in Mongolia as a staple of traditional Mongolian folk music; awards and shows all over...he's in Netflix's Marco Polo as the musicians group at the camp.
And then he does stuff like this!...??! (*mind explodes*)

He and his music seriously make me rethink a lot of things...and I don't even know what he's saying! lol! :p

    Cheers,
    Jayson

For example...by the way...Zorigoo causes me to want to know what all Native peoples' folk music fusion take would be.

I live in Alaska, and Native Alaskans, through a few genetic hops, are relatives of the Mongolians, so I've pretty regularly wondered what Native Alaskan folk hip-hop/EDM fusion would sound like (and I might get to hear it, because there's a new boom in the youngest gen. in recapturing their culture, but they still like the modern styles. *crosses fingers*).

    Cheers,
    Jayson

This came on the radio during my morning commute today...

It was beautifully ironic when Buffet sang "searching for my lost shaker of salt" as I was passing a lady who was spreading rock salt on the sidewalk to melt the ice.
    :D

Massive +1 for Susanne Sundfør - love her stuff!

Today's earworms down my way are this recent classic from Chvrches...

...and this new slice from Grimes

Susanne is awesome. Glad to know others love her music too as she's relatively unknown. One of the best around imo.

    @Jayson
I'm not sure what your rating's all about.

Amen to that - I’ve got all the albums, seen her live 4 times and switched a number of friends onto her talent :)

You might have to cut the J-man some slack there... he’s just outta hospital and likely still so high he could be classified as a kite! :D

    Dammit. Sorry. That's an accident.
I just got of the hospital yesterday and the drugs they had me on in there was 10mg flexeril, 15 mg narco, and 1mg dilaudid, and sometimes valium.

So sometimes I would be surfing and the next thing I knew I was asleep with the phone on my face (had to stay flat on my back).

So...yeah..sorry, that wasn't intentional. Just drugged browsing accident.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

God I was. That dilaudid is no joke. 1mg of that and all of a sudden you're wrapped up in cotten clouds and slurring off to night night. lol

I didn't know that you were in hospital. Really sorry to hear about that.

    Thanks.
I'm home now; still on bed rest. Apparantly my dura is really slow at healing. I've probably another 2 weeks before I can return to a basic form of life. I thank the geniuses for the internet...if I had to do this in earlier times, I'd go crazy from boredom!

    Cheers,
    Jayson
