On sheer principle I don't like K-Pop, and it takes a LOT to overcome that. I was revising an old doodle, and this band came up in some of the research involved. So I listened, and hated how it wasn't bad, and then hated how it reminded me a bit of In The Heights due to the Caribbean feel at times. (My sister didn't really hear it, but I still do.) And then I hated this song because I liked it. So...yeah.

Heard this one in and I decided I unironically liked it.

The Post Malone kick has yet to end.

I love my all-girl J-Rock bands, even before I discovered Band-Maid. HAGANE is the latest one I'm putting on my list to do a deep dive into, right after Trident. I don't think I'll like them better than Trident - and definitely not more than Band-Maid - but I want to hopefully become a fan all the same.

Speaking of Band-Maid, "Blooming" is back on the list because 1) I've been listening to it A LOT, and 2) the music video has the lyrics attached finally! Kate may or may not be a good movie (idk, I'm not going to watch it), but it was at least good for giving us official translations of the lyrics!

And since I've been listening to some of their other albums, here's another Band-Maid song.

And here's a live version of Atarashii Gakkou's "Toumei Boy" (aka Invisible Boy)

Next up we have Akamodo's song "All Out," released as a sort of homage/honor to Insomniac's Spider-Man: Miles Morales game.

Other songs I've listened to have been mostly throwbacks, such as Rihanna's "Work" along with other things I can't remember. Here are the ones I do though.

EDIT: I almost forgot, "AP" by Pop Smoke.

I've found myself liking this album far more than I expected... as a NIN fan it's easy to recognise the indelible fingerprints of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross all over it, which probably helps me as a listener.

Not everyone's cup of tea, I'm sure - but i've found a number of earworms and hooks that have brought me back to it several time in recent weeks.

Both great tracks @MandoChip... my favourite from that first album was definitely Aura though

This Four Tet remix of Opal is a rather marvellous retooling too

Ok music listeners, here's a question for today...

    i) do you like lobsters?
ii) do you like indie guitar pop?
iii) do you like songs burrowing into your cortex and living there as an earworm for days?

if no, skip to next post... if yes, play the video below and we can be friends :D

In my mind it can't be an oldie unless it was around when you were in school. Then it dawned on me that I was just out of school when I first heard this and it was a year or two old at that time.

    • Blade Runner Soundtrack
    • Chico Buarque - Genius from Brazil.
    • Caetano Veloso - Another brazilian Genius.
    • TPM Soundtrack.
