Well, this took me right back to the early noughts! Parts of the song sounds like a Britney & Shakira mashup :D Also, you get at least 3 songs in one, here!

Also also, Karina's trousers are GOAT!

Also also also, I suspect that "chicke'da" is Korean for "check it out" ;)

Great movie, great song! OOR was a perfect choice for the Rurouni Kenshin movies. (I'm partial to "The Beginning" and "Broken Heart of Gold" myself.)

I've been listening to a few things, building up my 2022 Music List. Here are some of the more recent songs. "Survivor," "Elevate," "Goose," and "Castles" are probably my most listened-to of the year so far. "Castles" gains the benefit of being my go-to song for two manga I've read this year. (Sweetness & Lightning, and Silver Spoon, which I just finished a few days ago.) "Elevate" is very recent - the past two weeks honestly - but it's already proven itself and has been one of my theme songs for my revising of Bleach these past two weeks. That and "Anthem of the Lonely" by Nine Lashes. I used to listen to it years ago, but it's really worked to provide the right atmosphere for rereading Bleach, which has been a blast. "Blasphemy" by Bring Me the Horizon fits pretty well also, depending on the scene and arc.
Anyways, it's weird to hear Papa Roach after all of these years, and a good song or two by them no less! But I'm happy they're doing well, and weirdly, I don't mind the change. When it comes to long-runners I've known for a while, I'm pretty hit-or-miss on the stylistic changes. Linkin Park changed so much that I got used to it, but it was rough at times (although the older I get, the more brilliant it becomes.) Rise Against lost me after a few albums I just couldn't get into, and Skillet's changes did not work for me. But since I liked those bands more than Papa Roach, I guess I'm cool with the change?
"Goose," "Gameface," "Heaven Is Here," and even "Elevate" have been some current inspiration for a game idea of mine, and so I've been reveling in those these past few weeks as well.
Polkadot Stingray is a Japanese Pop-Rock band that I'm still discovering. I'm not entirely sold on them, but I've liked most of what I've heard so far. And speaking of J-Pop-Rock, Miku Kobato, founder of Band-Maid has a spin-off project called Cluppo that's in that exact category (although the ratio of Pop to Rock changes each song). Her full EP finally released, and I've enjoyed a majority of the songs more than I thought I would.
Back in America, we have Chloe's single "Have Mercy." It's explicit and the music video's a little raunchy, so I won't add it, but I like the song nonetheless.

I've been listening to a LOT of music, but I'll just share the highlights. (Which, considering how long this list is getting, should give you an idea of how much music I've been listening to since the last update.) GET READY FOR ANOTHER JOURNEY!

First up is "Ah Yeah" by Robert Glasper. I was looking for a specific sort of "midnight blues and jazz in Tokyo" vibes, and it led me to this song. It captures some of what I've been looking for, but I've also just been vibing to it.

If you like "Ah Yeah," check out "Tadow" by FKJ and Maesgo

"Renegade" by Aaryan Shah is apparently a TikTok song. I heard it for a little short video about a scene in Spy x Family that totally didn't match, but it worked anyways. I like the vibe of this song too.

"Polaris" by Aimer. I do love a good song by Aimer, and this one fit the vibe for a character I've been writing about, along with some nominal connections to said character's family member, so I think it fits really well.

"Storm" by Otyken. This was just a recommendation on YouTube for me. It had a pretty girl in the thumbnail and was music, so I said, "why not?" I had no idea what I was getting into, or what I was listening to. But I liked it. This song is both modern with the guitars and utterly primal with its vocals in a way that I can get behind. Screaming, yelling, keening, and more. It's weird, but it works.

"Sleepy Tea" by Chom. The whole album was recommended to my by one of my best friends after he helped me discover and slightly navigate the world of Progressive Rock or Mathrock. I'm still working through the album, but this intro song is still one of my faves.

"OD," "Playing God," and "Nasty" by Polyphia. More Prog Rock! "Nasty" weirdly reminds me of "Mirando" by Ratatat

"Die Young" by DJ Fixx. I just like the song and vibe.

Going with vibes, we have "Clouds" by Paper Idol and "Dreamland" by Glass Animals. Different vibes, but vibes all the same.

"Earl Gray" by FN. This song speaks to me because - as was probably was the intent - it reminds me of a girl. Earl Gray itself is meaningful in that exchange, so yeah, this song speaks to me on a few levels.

"Now or Never" by Meet Me @ the Altar. I can't leave out the ladies of this band, and their latest album is a banger. This is my favorite though.

"Valley of Vision," and "When We Were Broken" by Our Last Night. I finally started listening to some of their original songs!

"Spoopy" by TRIDENT. I've been promising to listen to more of them for years...and I still really haven't done so...but this song came up and I like it! It reminds me of Band-Maid in the best of ways, so I listen to it. That isn't a bad thing though. Meet Me @ the Altar reminds me of Paramore in the best of ways, and it encourages me to seek out them rather than Paramore so I can support the new band.

I've also been watching a lot of Steezy Dance videos, which have led me to some gems I might not have heard or liked otherwise. I'd be sort of a waste to explain all of them, so I'll just link the dance videos and their respective song. ("Ooh Kill'em" by Meek Mill is the exception to this rule.)
"Baguetti" by Smino, JID, and Kenny Beats is one of those songs.

    "Ooh Kill'em" by Meek Mill

    "Light Switch" by Charlie Puth

    "Indigo" by NIKI

"Coldblooded" by Jessi, who I had ironically first heard of maybe a week beforehand.

The above video led me to Taryn Cheng's channel, which is where I heard "Numb & Getting Colder" by Flume

Lastly was a Steezy video called "Reverse Choreography." In this series of videos, a dancer will choreograph a piece, and then a producer makes a song to go with the piece. After the below videos, the dancers got a chance to re-choreograph their pieces to the new song. The below choreography and song are the best, with the song now being my go-to song for Mistborn 3 aka The Hero of Ages.

EDIT: A few songs I forgot above

@Lazarus Dei I like to think I'm expanding someone's playlist by having such long music posts every now and then, even if it's just by a song or two.

Just want to take a moment to gush about Polyphia's new song "Neurotica." Now, nearly everything I've heard from this band has been gold, something I haven't really felt since Band-Maid. (I'd say Meet Me @ the Altar actually has a similar record, if on a smaller scale.) "Playing God" was spicy and brilliant, and "Neurotica" is another masterpiece. It's both hip-hop and techno (leaning towards Future Bass, although my experience in the techno world is limited), all translated through Prog Rock. The chords are having a conversation with each other until the end where they're in sync. It's great. Polyphia is definitely my band of the year so far, and it's going to take a LOT for them to be overtaken.

I've also really been enjoying the vibe of "40oz"

"Sunset" by Tim Henson, one of the guitarists of Polyphia, is apparently my niece's "let's get ready for naptime" song. Then again, it was my brother-in-law who introduced me to Polyphia, so it makes sense.

"Aavegi" by Ritviz has also been really nice to listen to. It's the end credits song for the final episode of Ms. Marvel, and it really just encasupsulates Kamala Khan and her culture in an up-tempo song that fits Kamala's energy level.

"Bad For You" by Vicki Vox was a song that was on a YouTube Shorts video (aka YouTube's not-so-subtle attempt to replicate TikTok's formula and success...which really lends itself to TikTokers uploading their stuff to YouTube as a backup system) and I liked it.

Beyond the cinematography, the story, the aircraft, the acting (superb portrayal of naval aviators....Monica Barbaro just nailed it as Phoenix).....Top Gun:Maverick has a tremendous score too....

    Another Hans Zimmer masterpiece...

My favorite themes are Dark Star, Time to Let Go, and the Top Gun Anthem
