I make up my own mind regarding whether or not I like something. I don't require flaming SW nerds to try and sway me regarding TLJ.

Its cool to like something or hate something. No one is 'wrong'.

My man Hudster here smashing it out of the park as per usual.

TLJ had flaws, but all-in-all (especially on my second viewing), I freaking loved this film. My heart sinks a little when I see this much backlash.. I feel like people are absurdly unreasonable.

I read this one dudes comment on Instagram that I found hilarious...
I thought Snoke was going to be the new Emperor or something awesome like that! VERY disappointing Rian... thumbs down!

hahaha... these are the people we're dealing with. He wanted the same-old same-old.

The moments in this film were beautiful. This film did its job... I've never seen people just talk and debate about a film so much in my life.

I honestly don't see anyone complaining that this movie was "too different." They just describe things that they don't like (certain plot points, use of comedy, etc) that *happen* to be different. But, ya know, in a new work of fiction, things are pretty much going to be different. Even as much as TFA was a mirror of ANH, it still has more differences than similarities.

I have zero problem with negativity, as long as you give support and reason for it.

But almost all of it is coming back to "I didn't get MY version of Star Wars."

    Sorry.

Do you know what my reaction was? I was originally planning to see it for the second time this Wednesday, but the negative reaction caught me by surprise as much as the movie did. So I ditched my work and saw it on Saturday again. I let the movie wash over me and all the negativity was washed away with it. So if the negativity starts wearing me down and bringing my mood down, I'll just see it again. It works like a salve. :)

Did I just get rated pessimistic for saying I don't mind well-grounded negativity??

I didn't give that rating (partly because I can't rate things yet!). But, I'm really not seeing what you described anywhere. I see people describe surprisingly specific and well-reasoned criticisms. So, if you chalk it all up to something so dismissive (and somewhat condescending), then yea, people aren't going to respond well to it. Know what I mean?

The more complaining I hear about TLJ the more I actually like it. Yes there were some parts that made me litterally facepalm in my seat, but overall it was really good. Mostly its the butthurt EU anti Disney people.

    FINALLY seeing TLJ tomorrow.

I expect I'll find the negativity blown out of proportion.

I didn't get super into Star Wars until TFA. The only EU stuff I consumed were a few of the Dark Forces era video games and one novel (Crystal Star). I'm not saying your generalization is inaccurate; just providing some evidence to the contrary.

I agree. I was very happy to hear that Disney was wiping the slate somewhat clean and then starting over with a more focused vision. I think that was a brilliant and necessary move. I wish, say, Marvel Comics would do a full reboot -- that kind of thing is necessary when you simply have too many decades of convoluted plot to negotiate.

Comics at this point are a lost cause. Following universes and timelines...blah.
Wait for the run to end and just buy the trade paperback.
It's why I love that the movies are doing their own thing just inspired by comics.

Im not saying all the EU fans, but there is a certain group of them that go out of their way to ruin the Disney Star Wars image. I've seen it with fan's choice and in rotten tomatoes reviews.

I could never get into the EU. I did like the Thrawn trilogy, but I tried others and could not get into them.

I thought half of it was just so ridiculous and uninteresting I rarely found the half of it that was actually good, KOTOR withstanding.

You mean the current comics or the old "Legends" stuff?
I'm fairly pleased with what I've read of the current comics. The Phasma mini-series was SO GOOD! ... made her underwhelming presence in TLJ that much harder to swallow. =(

    What's "fan's choice"?

Also, if the low Rotten Tom's score was just a matter of EU fans hating on the new-canon, why did they spare TFA and Rogue One?

Oh I meant comics as a whole.
But I stand by my trade paperbacks comics. I hate having all the individual ones floating around.

as for the RT thing: They didn't get ballsy with Luke Skywalker. Rian changed something they hold near and dear. They are grieving.
