    This is my Snoke theory:

Brendol Hux, father of General Hex, was ordered by Sheev Palpatine to seek out the the source if the dark side beyond known space. He found it and was consumed by the raw power of the dark side. Possibly even being possessed by it. He becomes known as Snoke.

Snoke influences the creation of The Knights of Ren from afar. Still being beyond known space, he holoprojects his communications with Kylo Ren and his son General Hux during the events of TFA.

The tension between Kylo Ren and General Hux is Jealousy.

This is just a theory. Please feel free to prove/disprove.

Sounds plausible, where'd you get "brendol hex"?

Brendol Hux is a character in Servants of the Empire: The Secret Academy (one of four junior books about Zare Leonis from Rebels). He is General Hux's dad.

I am inclined to agree with this line of thinking. So...General Hux is the offspring of Snoke and Rae Sloane? Not too bad. I like it.

Then snoke isn't plaguesis, that'll disappoint some people. Not me, but there are some die hards out there! And he would be around 60 years old, at the youngest. Interesting...

My question is that, if this is the case, why wouldn't he just train Hux sinceHux is "pure evil?"

I like that idea, now let me add my own twist. Snoke is not Hux, but was found by Hux. Snoke, is an ancient Sith Lord, a cross between Darth Plagueis and several other Darths in the Expanded Universe, banished and exiled away from long ago, rediscovered and inadvertently brought back by the Imperial Exploratory Team. He reinvents himself as Snoke once back in civilization, and begins to recruit Force sensitives and Jedi learners like Kylo Ren to join his dark side cult, the Knights of Ren. I have absolutely no basis of any evidence for this theory, lol. Its just a cool plot that I think would work, and consistent with Abrams consolidating several EU characters into a single villain.

Just curious. Was it ever implied that General Hux does not believe in the Force?

I think it could be implied that Hux is disgusted by The Force .

Is Hux's dad Snoke or did he find Snoke? If he is Snoke, how did he become an alien?

Maybe Benicio Del Toro's character in episode 8 is Huxs dad, and is also the Fleet Admiral from the ending of Aftermath. My theory is very similar with Stu Rocket, but Snoke is instead Darth Plagius who cheated death and exiled himself to wild space, waiting for a time to strike. When Hux arrives, he takes control of the first order.

In all seriousness, an interesting theory that sounds plausible. Though I still think Snoke is his own character that we will get to know more about in future media. He was there during the Clone Wars and before that but we just don't know what he was up to back then.

I'm inclined to agree with @Devizz here. One thing I do like about this theory, though, is that it gives a compellingly personal reason for Hux being present when Snoke is communicating via hologram.

    regarding Brendol Hux:

we now know he's a pretty low-level Commandant, all things considered; in charge of the academy at Arkanis, but hardly a clever strategist or fit military man. he's basically described as a "pig" in Life Debt and his behavior on Rax's Shadow Council demonstrates that he's not terribly smart politically. but he has value to Rax (whether for his knowledge and ideas for training up new military cadets/stormtroopers) or for something in particular about his son (we don't really know).

either way, he's definitely not Snoke and it seems doubtful BDT will portray him.
