I wouldn't mind seeing Benicio Del Toro as Kes Dameron. He looks like he could be related to Poe, and he'd be the right age to be his father.

Exactly. And we all know that Anakin hated sand due to being coarse and getting everywhere. Good job on that gem of a dialogue, GL.

I feel like Luke will try to have to convince Rey to be trained. She originally didn't want the lightsaber.

Karma is about that. Love the things you hate. BTW, she had no choice and Jakku is a perfect purgatory.

Yea but since she said that, she's discovered her force powers and has become quite comfortable with them. She seemed pretty eager to give that saber to Luke.

If anything, it would probably be the other way around. Her having to convince him to train her.

Snoke is building a large Force sensitive clone army. The DNA used for this new clone army comes from the severed right hand of Luke Skywalker, retrieved from Cloud City, Bespin. This means Snoke is creating an army of genetically engineered Dark Side Luke clones!

One of the Force sensitive clones, an accidentally engineered female clone, was rejected by sexist cloners and was destined to be destroyed. The young female clone of Luke Skywalker is rescued by someone sympathetic and taken to the safety of a distant sand planet by the "someone" and is left there to live and fend for herself.

Over the years, she survives by salvaging and restoring machine parts to trade for food portions. The clone, now a young woman, lives inside a fallen AT-AT walker. She has no name, so she assumes one inspired by the previous owner of an X-wing pilot's helmet which she has found and has become fond of. The pilots name was 'Captain Dosmit Raeh'.

    ;)

Well, in the middle of their own trilogies both Anakin and Luke get their right arm/hand cut so...

    Likely:

-luke trains rey. The series of Arthurian trials another poster mentioned make sense...similar to yoda, and tying to the euro centric visuals of ep7...crossgaurd sword, castles forest planets, certain plot elements etc

-finn and poe teamed up extensively for first two thirds of film.

-introduction of new female character, probably two

-resistance and republic in shambles. Finn, poe, leia attempting to fend off first order onslaught

    - snoke trains kylo. Broader strokes of his master plan and origin revealed, but much mystery left for ep9. Kylo conflicted but leaning darker

    Possible:

-phasma begins doubting her superiors. If one of the new females is a villian, phasma may switch a la lando and go good

-del torro is either FO ( knights of ren?) or a bounty hunter.

-backstory on the lightsaber gives us a lando-han scene.

-rey's backstory: lor san tekka was a distant guardian placed on jakku by luke. Unkar was reluctantly a more direct gaurdian via han's influence, who did all he did under Luke's orders

-force ghost chameos: don't be surprised to see Hayden, liam, ewan, and yoda. Or some combo of these

-ancient and recent jedi/sith artifacts play a pivotal role for both luke and snoke

    Personal hopes:

    - a small but dignified role for lando
    - more gangsters and bounty hunters...maybe a hutt?
-we discover luke and snoke have the same goal, actual balance of light and dark, but the two differ vastly on how to achieve this. By ep9 it's actually snoke and luke trying to bring the now irredeemably dark ren back to light
    - perhaps the knights of ren have some inquisitors?
-finn is neither windu or calrissian, proving there are more than three black people in the gffa
-rey has a monent of dark temptation...and essentially fails
    -more maz with better sfx
-riann Johnson really puts his v unique storytelling stamp on this one. Jj was right to use familiar tropes to help invest us in the new cast. Now it's time to throw us into uncharted terrain.
-speaking of new planets. . .perhaps it's important that we go beyond the outer rim...to a FO- imperial stronghold or jedi/sith historical site

Here are a number of possible plotpoints for Episode VIII that might also tie into IX. These are based on on a number of tropes and themes introduced in Episode VII. Not in chronological order.

    - Rey trained by Luke. Rey is conflicted by the light and darkside of the force. She is reminded by Luke that she defeated Ren because of her anger and fear. However, she experiences it as effective. Snoke trains Kylo Ren, but reminds him of the opposite. That his compasion for Rey was the reason for his defeat. Both are confronted with a number of trials throughout the movie which will either force them to the light or dark. These are presented to them as specifically moral choices, conforming Lucas' original ideas for the sequels. I agree fully with one of the above posts that these will likely be influenced by Arthurian literature, in similar fashion to how the Force Awakens was influenced by the first acts in the works of Wolfram von Eschenbach and Cretien de Troyes. Both Kylo and Rey speak with the ghosts of the past. These will be scenes akin to the arthurian 'Fisher King' theme. In IX Kylo Ren will have to bring Rey back to the light. Together they will confront Snoke in the final sequence of episode IX (the main direction and function of the trials in VIII).
    - Luke reveals that he is Rey's father, that her brother and mother were killed as a consequence of Kylo Ren's betrayal. It is also revealed that Felicity Jones' character from Rogue One is Rey's mother and Luke's wife. He is like Yoda, unwilling to train Rey. It is possibly Luke who will be the cause of Rey's turn.
    - The movie opens with a failed Rebel ground and space attack on the First Order command world (an inversion of the opening battle sequence from Empire Strikes Back).
    - The Rebel fleet is hunted throughout the movie. (yes, as in the remake of Battlestar Galactica, which Ryan Johnson absolutely loved)
    - In the movie, we will see Rey and Luke fight the Knights of Ren.
    - From Finn we will have a reveal that he is convinced that he is not the only stormtrooper who disagrees with the first order (set up for plot elements in episode 9).
    - Possible inversion. Rey turns towards the dark, Kylo Ren turns towards the light at the end of the movie.
    - One of the new female leads is a love interest for Finn, the other is an inverted love interest for Kylo Ren. Snoke uses or used the latter's love interest.
    - Part of the movie will take place on Sallust. VIII or IX will also include a return to Jakku (Rey re-visits her old AT-AT home - "Why does everyone need to go back to Jakku". This might actually be the final sequence in episode IX)
    - Finn is Rey's true love interest. Finn wil sacrifice himself in Episode IX. Rey will rescue Finn in VIII.
    - Yoda's reveal to Obi Wan in Empire Strikes Back will return; Obi Wan: "That is boy is our last hope". Yoda: "No there is another". We always thought this referred to Leia. However it is likely that Episode VIII will show that Yoda actually meant Rey. This explains Yoda and Obi Wan's lines in TFA's vision sequence. It will also explain their return as force ghosts to guide Rey in Episode VIII.
    - Luke will have his Gandalf moment. Possibly the moment when he confronts the knights of Ren. He appears to sacrifice himself but unexpectedly returns at a key undetermined moment in IX.
    - Anakin Skywalker's force ghost will return: he will be portrayed as trapped between the light and dark. (each candle light casts a shadow). He will be the force ghost who confronts Kylo Ren.
    - The objectives and characteristics of the knights of Ren will be revealed: the fact that there are 7 and that 'Ren' means lotus in points to their quest to immortality. Both the nr. 7 and the lotus are symbolical for eternal life in western literature. This also explains their allegience to Snoke who will be revealed as Darth Plagueis the Wise. The latter also sought to achieve immortality. Like Anakin, Ren will seek this immortality to prevent his loved one's from dying. Kylo Ren's love interest however is completely controlled by Snoke to keep Kylo Ren intact. Similar to how Palpatine needed Anakin to achieve immortality, so does Snoke need Kylo Ren, Vader's grandson. Rey is the alternative to Kylo Ren because she is also Anakin's grand daughter. (Lucas to Abrams at Variety: "what ever happened to Darth Vader's grandchildren?")
    - Chewie will sacrifice himself and the Falcon (Episode IX) or chewie will sacrifice himself in VIII to save Rey.

The findings of jedi/Sith Artifacts. My only prediction is that Kylo Ren finds Darth Vader lightsaber after he loses or his breaks down...

Okay, this is what I think should/could occur, as far as Rey, Kylo and Snoke are concerned:

Kylo Ren develops in the Force and becomes more mature, more like Vader. He is beginning to seriously doubt Snoke and likewise Snoke has his suspicions too.

Kylo fights Rey once again, this time winning. He is about to kill her but can't bring himself to. (This may have occurred before, at the Jedi Massacre)

Rey and Kylo begin a reluctant friendship - they have some kind of connection whether it be family or romance.

Kylo decides to kill Snoke in his sleep, perhaps with his fellow Knights of Ren. However the assassination attempt fails and it is revealed that Snoke had manipulated the situation to test whether Kylo would kill him, and that he is indeed Plagueis by mentioning how Darth Sidious had attempted to kill him in his sleep too.

Plagueis fights Kylo and completely obliterates him, reducing him to a corpse like state. The Resistance/First Order /Knights of Ren find his body and put it in a life-sustaining suit similar to Vader's.

Rey is discovered hiding out on Kylo's ship by Snoke and he seduces her to the Dark Side...
