Feel free to answer the poll, and maybe place a comment on your favorite introduction and why?

For me it was Rey, hands down. JJ did a fabulous job of showing Rey's plight and her strong will all at the same time, without having her say a single word.

I'd go with BB-8... mainly as having watched trailers and the TV spot character intros (own choice, own fault!), I already knew a fair bit about the other characters which probably diminished their impact a little. I realise Snoke was shown in advance, but I still can't get the 'Space Gollum' notion out of my head :(

It was hard to chose but I say Rey. The image of the insides of the Stardestroyer and then in de desert with the music...it is just wonderful.

Rey. No words spoken. You get a sense of the kind of life she lived - being alone and fending for herself, which is something we all can relate to. I know I do.

The introduction of Rey was great. Kylo Ren too.

i gotta give it to Kylo Ren. mostly because i went into the movie totally predisposed to hate him and i can be really stubborn (hahaha).

that said, Poe kinda surprised me the most given how instantly i fell in love with him.

Rey, BB-8 and Finn i expected to love, so there were no surprises there; they were just awesome.

Kylo. Although he had a extremly cool start on Jakku I also have a very personal and quite odd reason for that..
You can not imagine my shock at the moment when he was lifting his helmet and he looked like..a doppelgänger of my younger brother lol:)

I went for Finn because seeing him lose his stormtrooper buddy in the middle of the village battle hearing him breathing heavy & the bloody handprint on his helmet got him some attention.

Although there's not a new character I don't like (except Snoke), I have to say I loved Rey's introduction the best. There's not only the way she pwned that jump to the rope in the star destroyer she was scavenging (that was awesome in IMAX 3-D), but her thoughtful look at the fellow aged scavenger woman... I love how she made her AT-AT into a home with the flowers, the doll, and the tally on the wall. Then there's the let's-play-pretend X-wing helmet and the way she scarfed down her food and then licked her plate. On top of that she has to go and rescue a down-on-its-luck droid (who we happen to already be fond of) and kicks anyone's butt who messes with it... Yeah, OK, enough already! I loved her ten minutes ago. Let's see what this girl can salvage from some ruined stuff in this trilogy. ;)

Rey is easily the best for me. That whole sequence is just wonderfully shot, the score is great, there's some gorgeous cinematography, and Daisy is able to convey so much emotion and tell you exactly what Rey's life is like and what she must be thinking and feeling, with just her facial expressions/body language. The direction helps a lot in that regard as well. And the set design, particularly of her makeshift home, also told you a lot about her.

Kylo Ren has a great intro as well, and it immediately starts dropping hints and foreshadowing stuff about his character.

Finn's was quite good as well, with his losing his comrade and the classic "THE HORROR" imagery/sound effects that we often see in war films. The blood on his helmet was also a great touch as well.

BB-8/Finn, but I also liked Rey's. I think the most awkward was with Finn, it just didn't seem quite convincing and his banter with Poe early on seemed contrived. Hopefully they will build upon the character in much more depth in the sequels.

Finn, because it tells us everything we need to know without the aid of dialogue or facial expressions.

Finn. He has the best origin and has the most room for growth going into the next movie out of all of the characters. I'm interested to see where he goes as far as being a warrior and whether they explain how he broke his stormtrooper conditioning. I also hope he continues to use a lightsaber and possibly becomes a Jedi in the future. Also, I think he showed the most range in his personality out of all the characters.

I picked Poe because he's so mysterious but cool as a character and reminds me a lot of myself .

Side note: Could be wrong, but pretty sure I reckonised those flowers, I think they were an Aussie native dessert flower called 'Kangaroo Paw'.

I didn't expect to be as blown away as I was with Rey, though it was a slower, more subtle warm up.

Kylo's intro was amazing, and it was like wow, epic bad guy on the scene.

Thank you for that tip! Here's a pic I found of Kangaroo Paw online:
    kangaroo paw.jpg

I found the flowers incredibly touching somehow, in a more subtle way than the tally on the wall. It makes me sad to think about how Rey would have had to first find them in that desolate place, then notice them, then decide to take them along with her salvage material, and cherish them in some extraordinary way to bring them home uncrushed. I wonder what significance they had for her--was it more than just their beauty?

The homemade doll was cute but also tragic for me as well. Because you figure that:

-She most likely had to make it herself.
-It was likely her only "friend" before Finn showed up, which is just depressing to contemplate.

Rey and BB-8. They do form an amazing duo, after all. She is extremely capable and self reliant, but still seems to rely much more easily on a random droid than on a human being (Finn) coming her way.

I would have voted for Kylo Ren if it wasnt for the two times he got into a lightsaber frenzy with the furniture it was so dumb, if you want to show a characters inner anger please find a little more imaginative way to show it. I still felt that Kylo Ren was the best acted character I just wish they would have developed the persona a little bit more so I chose Rey instead
