It really doesn't bother me if they give us new ships and things my friend as SW is something that can always evolve. I'm down with seeing movies that can have new craft and zero X-Wings or Tie Fighters or any other of the classics cause it is perfectly logical that those ships are not going to be seen in every part of the galaxy but we have to remember that this is a prequel and just sticking new ships for fan service is really a shame. Aside from the Sandtroopers, we never had any rank within the Stormtroopers yet now we have awesome Death Troopers? Where were these guys when the REALLY important events went down in the galaxy? We can see them deployed to stop a handful of Rebel but none were present at the decisive battle of Endor? What was the point of Vader hiring the Bounty Hunters if now we are going to be seeing that the Empire had all of these special type of troops with advanced gear and awesome ships? Back when it was just plain Stormtroopers and Tie Fighter Pilots, Vaders use of the Bounty Hunters made sense but seeing how things are starting to turn out, why hire a crazy lizard guy to find a ship when the Empire itself has vast resources and specialized troops that could do the job? Had this been done in TFA then I would be perfectly fine as these things would be expected since it's the future but before ANH? They can't be more obvious that it's just fan service in order to make more money.

Oh and dude you are so right on the figure prices yet here in Puerto Rico they are sometimes even more expensive! I don't know how much they cost where you live but here the 3 3/4 black series figures cost a whoppin $15.99 plus tax! That's almost $20 bucks! I can get a 6 inch black series figure for that!

From a technological evolution stand point, you are correct. From a keeping it fresh without rehashing the same old stuff we've already seen for 30 years, it makes sense in the movie. There are always plot holes, and such that keep the guys over at "Everything wrong with ..." in business. Why didn't Vader ever sense Leia was his daughter, and even tortured her? Why hide Luke on his father's home planet and have OB1 wear his Jedi clothes for 20 years? Why didn't any of the Jedi sense who Palpatine was? Why do the Jedi seem to lie, and the Sith always tell it like it is? Lots of things that don't really mesh, but we love it nonetheless.

Agreed on the first part of your post as for Vader not knowing Leia was his daughter he seemed to be more focused on finding Kenobi, death star plans etc, sometimes other focuses temporarily outweighed those that could have saved her.

Interesting to note, that the U-wing was already on display when the first pictures where officially released.

My gosh, it's true. Completely forgot this.

In that image I tought it was some sort of rebel drop ship. If you look closer, you can see two soldiers ready to drop (or standing behind a turret, I don't know) on a lateral opening. The U-Wing is some badass rebel gunship, I think.

LOL, I’ve even overlooked that troop compartment in that ship when uploading the picture!

So it is a dropship, it seems even larger than the LAAT/c gunships from CW.

    dropship.png

Now this makes a lot more sense to me, why introduce a new fighter with the cockpit from an Y-Wing and the thrusters of a X-Wing. But complementing the Rebel ship portfolio by a dropship for rapid troop deployment in hot zones, I feel hyped.

Now it starts feeling more like “Black Hawk Down”. ;)

All this new info, I don't think I can handle it lol, I'm to hyped up! Anyway the U-wing looks interesting, it seems that It was made from spare x-wing and y-wing parts, which is a nice little detail recongnizing that the rebellion is very ragtag, and unpredictable. The U-wing was confirmed to have s-foils so, if imagine the engines on the back open up, similar to an X-wings. The tie striker looks pretty cool, I wonder what it's main purpose will be, maybe a used in the planet's atmosphere, as well as in space? Who knows. Nice to see y-wings again after years. Im really interested into seeing those new aliens for the rebel alliance, and where they come from, hopefully we will get a bit of their backstory. The droid really reminds me of proxy from the force unleashed, although I don't think it will have the same abilities.

While we are looking at that pic, any chance this is a droid fighting?

It looks like your standered rebel commando, but you never know. Droid foot soldiers for the alliance don't really fit well, IMO.

That Imperial Tank in Rogue one is already a miniature and I believe from a couple a years ago in a board game Imperial attack or Imperial Assault...

    Look similar?

Hm, there are some similarities, but it seems to be another model nonetheless.

    ImpTank_01.png

What I find realy astonishing is the use of a tracked vehicle instead of one with repulsorlift tech. Even in the clone wars they were not so retro. This is a clear departure from the walker/speeder philosophy in star wars (taken out the Jawa sand crawler).

You can clearly see the tank track incl. guiding wheel in the trailer’s shot, when the thing is blown up:

    ImpTank_02.png

So on the shifting sands of Tatooine, Dewback mounts might be the better choice after all. Well, at least if you’ve forgotten your speeder bikes at home.

    TIE-STRIKER.jpg

It clearly say "aerial" in the text box, so I'd assume it's specifically designed for atmospheric flight. ;)

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Probably a vehicle to counter the airspeeders then.

Wouldn't the walkers sink in the sand and muddy beaches? Or at least get stuck?
