Five character profiles have been released allowing us insight into the Jedi we’ll be meeting this August in the multi-platform publishing event, Star Wars: The High Republic. Starwars.com has released concept art and bios for five of the Jedi Knights and Masters.

Announced in late February, The High Republic event will be set 200 years before The Phantom Menace in a time when the Republic, and the Jedi, are at the height of their glory.

The interwoven stories will be told through adult and young adult novels, children's books and comic books published by both Marvel and IDW.

Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain had this to say about the characters:
Here are our first five Jedi from Star Wars: The High Republic

    Loden Greatstorm

    Keeve Trennis

    Stellan Gios

    Vernestra “Vern” Rwoh

<span>Authors Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, DJ Older, <span>Cavan<span> Scott, and Charles Soule are writing for the project that's due to start this August.

<span>With the pausing of both TV series production and now comics due to COVID-19, this announcement is an optimistic look as Lucasfilm still plans to publish Soule's The High Republic: Light of the Jedi novel (the first in the publishing campaign) on time to meet its August 25th release date.

This is an unprecedented era of scale and coordination in Star Wars publishing and with the addition of these five new heroes, it's setting up to be a wild ride in the High Republic.

Keeve Trennis bears an uncanny resemblance to Rafa Martez...

I hope they don’t drag Abeloth into this because there was a rumor that she was the villain.

I think this is more of a design issue than anything else. “Vern” also reminds me of a young Gamora from marvel but obviously there’s no connection there. As far as designs go (apart from the one you pointed out) I am happy with the High Republic so far. With the golden colors and Arthurian-looking decorative sashes, this is clearly a fresh new era of Jedi. That’s what we need now from Star Wars: fresh, new, original.

I think these characters are looking quite interesting, (with the possible exception of Kriss; see below).

I'm definitely most interested in Vernestra "Vern" Rwoh at this point ('cause being young, carrying impossible expectations, and have the odds stacked against her makes for good drama).

And I wonder if Miss Goody Two-Shoes -- Avar Kriss -- will be the one to fall to Darkness in this story cycle... Either that, or there's more to the character than it appears ('cause all-good, trouble-free, über-heronie/hero characters are themselves very boring).

It'll be so much fun to delve into a brand new Star Wars epoch and story cycle! Can't wait! :D

I had a similar thought. Based on this description, I'm guessing she either goes bad or dies in the first book. They're just setting her up too much.
