    That hat/helmet design reminds me of WWII japanese ones? Similar not exactly.

    Or even british tropical helmets.

    Those are similar to samurai helmets....who often fought served the Emperor of Japan.

    And good catch on the tropical helmets of..the British Empire era

    See? Star Wars really does its best to connect to historical imagery and wardrobe.
