    I didn't wager, but if we've seen the concept before, in canon material, and recently, then how can it be new?

    I guess it depends on if you want to say it's a new live-action (practical) lightsaber.

    Is Saw Gerrera a new character in Rogue One? He was in The Clone Wars animated series.

    What would constitute a new lightsaber then? New color? Unique handle shape? New blade orientation? Different sound?
