I'm loving the fact that Marvel is putting out Star Wars comics like this. I am excited for all of them, Star Wars, Darth Vader, the Leia mini-series, and Kanan. I can't wait to see what else they end up putting out. I still need to go pick up Darth Vader today lol looks awesome.

Something someone wrote on somewhere about Vader not sensing Luke as his son (there's never been anything to make us believe that kinship can be felt through the Force) got me thinking. I've loved all three of the Marvel comics so far. I'm not nitpicking here, so much as seeing what you all think about this. I was a bit surprised that in Star Wars #2 Vader demanded that Luke take him to the pilot that destroyed the Death Star. I get him not being able to sense Luke was family. However, he didn't recognize through the Force that he was the same person. Kind of surprising considering he was impressed with Luke's Force ability in ANH. We'ce seen others be able to recognize a familiar Force prescence before (ala Vader feeling Kenobi in ANH, Darth Maul feeling Sidious in TCW and Luke sensing Vader on the shuttle in ROTJ). Perhaps it's either simplu a lack of familiarity or the fact that Luke wasn't drawing on the Force like he had been during the attack on the Death Star. What do you think?

It probably depends on the individual and their state of mind. The movies always have lines like "clear your mind" and "search your feelings." The first Death Star battle Vader had the luxury of focusing on individual pilots as he engaged them. In these comics I imagine Vader's emotional state is preoccupied with his recent failures, clouding his mind from things he'd normally sense. Just a theory.

Also, those three examples of force recognition you mentioned: those were all intimate relationships that each was very familiar with, with the exception of Luke/Vader, which can possibly be explained by Luke only having the experience of 2 other force users, so he might've been able to make a clear distinction.

I agree with your reasoning and briefly mentioned it in my post. I was just curious what the Cantina fam thought in general.

I know this thread is pretty much dead as everyone has read the first comic but I wanted to share a related video. It’s a full read through, or audio comic book if you will, of Star Wars #1 that I made. I didn’t want to post on a popular but unrelated thread just to get noticed so here it is for anyone who still lurks on these old threads like me:
